CHILDHOOD: Smith(age 11) and his brother David Smith(16) were found on a cargo freighter hiding in the wake of a pirate attack. Smith's Parents were never identified (Smith believes they were killed or taken as slaves and never revealed their names)Smith and his brother then lived in government establishments on Luna and in Earth Orbit until his brother bought a small freighter on which they lived until smith was old enough to enlist in USCM, During this time smith was believed to have learned how to fly Air/Space Craft and was know to have worked alongside his brother for criminal front companies as smugglers(though this is unproven)

Parents: Unknown (believed to have been killed or kidnapped during a pirate raid along with two brothers Tim and Michael)
Smith has not revealed much about his family and has never given his parents name(psychiatrists believe this is because of PTSD regarding his childhood and family)
RANK: Was Flight Lt second class, was demoted to Ensign for disciplinary action

MILITARY CAREER: Joined USCM pilot branch in 2180, completed Flight school top of his class.
First deployment was to the frontier world Artherius, where his ship was downed, Smith was awarded the distinguished combat medal for his actions behind enemy lines during his escape.
Over two dozen small operations in the Sol sector during the lunar revolts, was mentioned in dispatches by his CO for his precise CAS strikes and in the EVAC of the Armstrong crater.
Was the senior flight instructor at Herculis Chinook 91 GSO base until 2184 was disciplined for insulting a superior officer.
Was attached to 1st Colonial support group, was praised by his CO for his role in repelling CLF boarders on DS-588 "Gallipoli", however was not recommended for an award as he disobeyed orders to abandon the vessel.
Was attached to O'Neil Base's Aerospace protection detail, Flew an AD-17A Strike-ship, provided dozens of protection details to senior USCM staff and Vessels, notably repelling a suicidal terrorist attempting to ram the USNS "BlueGiant" which at the time was carrying Rear Admiral James Melbourne, Commander of UAAC Spacelift Command, as well as over 200 crew. However, in the attack Smith was seriously wounded and as a result lost his left arm, depth perception(due to eye injuries) and has a disfigured face.
Was attached to second battalion,4 brigade, "the falling Falcons" on USS Alaymer in 2186

PERSONALITY: (report by USCM physiatrist Dr Alice McAllister) Smith has been described as a cold and efficient soldier by many marines, however, those who are better acquainted with him know that although he is often too serious and pessimistic (hence his nicknames Sunshine and smiley) he is actually quite happy most of the time. He has a strict sense of discipline, however it seems certain officers annoy him, this has resulted in him insulting superiors on a number of occasions, furthermore he has been known to disobey orders to save lives (see Armstrong Evacuation; where smith disobeyed orders to return to base as not all the wounded had gotten on board). As smith is relatively new to the Falling Falcons he only knows a few marines from the unit. Smith was deeply affected by the death of his friend Flight Lt Goge Mountbatten at Artherius, Smith stopped using the nickname smiley when Mountbatten died as this was the name Mountbatten gave him.

Flight Lt Goge Mountbatten - was the lead pilot on smiths ship during the ill-fated Artherius deployment, Goge and Smith were close friends, Mountbatten died in the crash of the dropship at Artherius. Mountbatten is believed to have been the man responsible for smiths nickname smiley
