Ban Appeal, IP blocked due to Wineskin wrapper

Total Ban Duration: Access Denied, I assume this is a Permaban

Remaining Duration: Forever, I guess

What other servers do you play on? None

Are you now or have you been banned on any of them? Nope

Reason for ban (): Threatening to DDOs the Server. This isn't really a threat, because we rent a VPS from a data-centre, and have FAIR amount of bandwidth, and DDOS protection through the company.

Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc): This is what I think has happened. AliStilinski was trying to get BYOND to work through a Mac and downloaded WineSkin and a wrapper to make the game compatible with the mac. However It appears someone has used this wrapper for nefarious purposes in the past, so Ali got hit with the ban when the server recognized the wrapper. So after AliStilinski couldnt get it working on the Mac she then tried to log back into her PC (windows) and finds her account locked from the server. She then tries to make another account and finds that one is banned too. I try her original account on my computer (windows) to see if its an general ban or IP specific ban and find it still banned. I then try to login to my account and find that its banned now as well (all the bans described share the same above message). So I think I got IP banned on the basis of trying to login with AliStilinski 's account which was identified as malicious....

I understand you will probably need to do some checking to verify the story, but I hope this misunderstanding can pass as quickly as possible.

You cannot usually post an unban on behalf of the other person, however if the other person posts in here. You MAY be treated as one case.

I would still strongly advise the other individual post a seperate appeal however.

Whatever the result of this appeal, can I recommend that this wineskin issue be added to the server rule list under rule 0.3 NO VPN or PROXY. Looking around this is not the first time this issue has occurred in the CM community.

I just mentioned AliStilinski because they did not have a forum presence at the time of posting (hence my second response) and we were not sure exactly why the ban happened at the time, only that was related to the wineskin wrapper. As you have replied to her actual appeal I assume the situation has been resolved for her?

Am I still banned by affiliation of attempting to login with her account or am I in the clear now as well?

EDIT: For clarification, my account is NEzara. Ali's ban seems to be lifted (as well as the associated IP ban) however mine appears to still be in effect, not sure why. I would appreciate that being lifted.

If you tried to login as her, you'd be tagged as a multikeyer, that's probably the issue.

But as the only reason I logged in with her account (with her permission) was to try and understand the ban (eg, was the ban specific to her mac or was it an IP ban due to the mac or an account ban). We were not sure what happened or even why it happened at the time and our actions within the first 20min were simply made to understand it. Ali hadnt broken any rules as far as we understood and we certainly didnt try to DDOS attack the server, we are both just confused as to what was going on. I assume everything is ok now?

We were both new to the game but I was slightly more familiar with the Byond engine. My login attempt was purely for diagnostic purposes to try and figure out what was going on. As we are now familair with the ban and appeal process, I can promise you such behaviour on my part will not happen again.

I would greatly appreciate if my ban was removed.

I'll try to get an exception working.
In the future, leave diagnosing this stuff to us, it makes it less work for me.
