Hugger defense?

Post by JennerH » 07 Nov 2017, 16:19

Are there ways to keep them from getting you? Like welding helmets, compression suits?

Push another marine towards them, that is the only surefire way to avoid getting hugged. I don't think ANY headwear other than the predator's biomask can be used to block huggers.

Be very observant, and you will survive.

Too often I see marines just walkin into eggs that are in plain sight. Remember, don't get narrow-vision in the field of battle, an open eye means you will live to fight again another day.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

The B18 helmet can block a hugger or two. But like Reno said, if you keep an eye open, you'll live to fight again.

Compared to old huggers these ones are more forgiving and a hell of alot easier to see just don't rush in and check your footing ahead for hugger traps

B18 helmet can block like 7 huggers or something it's very good

but usually if they're taking huggers they are pretty fucked anyways

Heard if you have your knife on you when you get hugged you can stab it off you before your infected. Haven't tried it yet.

B18 Helmet blocks three hugging attempt I believe.

Using a knife to kill a Hugger that's on you did work for me..... once, a long time ago. Its very hard to pull off and I would never rely on it as a viable tactic. Also who knows if it was considered a bug and removed or not.

These days most people get facehugged either if they get captured, they don't mind their step or a Queen screeches and rushes some poor schmuck.

I remember when I flamed a hugger trap on the ground in a recent round, and to my surprise it was still alive while in the fire until it leaped across 5 tiles onto my face. Xenos were super aggressive that round though and killed basically all of the marines, including some infected like me.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Baraclava only work once
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

Keep an eye open for resin holes and surprise Carriers and you'll probably be fine. Huggers are slow enough to jump that you can usually tap them dead before they actually get on your face, unless they land right on you/you walk directly onto them or something.

I think compression suit helmets do actually block huggers, I had to kill a guy as xeno once because he had that bulky helmet on and huggers just wouldn’t work

Welding helmets don't help though? One of the guides said to keep it worn when you're a survivor

remember to shoot unmature eggs. they're just as dangerous if not more dangerous than matured eggs. it's funny to see an egg mature suddenly and an unsuspecting marine get face hugged.

Really bites when you watch a guy destroy a resin hole with a flamethrower and the hugger that comes out of it doesn't die instantly from the fire but instead sits in it for a few seconds before leapping 3 tiles of fire to hug your ass. 9/10 Id take this over old huggers, but plz fix
