Unable to Launch Into Col Mar Game

Post by KyojoKen » 10 Nov 2017, 12:08

Hi guys,

Need a bit of help. Here's the following list of problems I'm facing with Col Mar:

1) I can't launch into character creation screen
2) Cannot launch into Guide
3) Cannot launch into USCM
4) Cannot launch into Xeno

I can, however, observe games till my heart's content. I have contacted the admins in-game and asked them for help, which they've courteously provided. That said, nothing's worked.

I've cleared my cache. Reinstalled my game shifting drives. Re downloaded all the files. Given my computer herpes of the harddrive trying to look for a solution for the past week. Today, out of frustration and in a vague attempt to cleanse my computer of any and all ailments, I formatted.

Still nada.

And the very few times I've been able to login to the game, as in actually play it and enjoy the experience, none of the machinery works. I can't get myself food or dispense bloody weapons, leading me to RPing my squadmates to drop me weapons with some LOOC clarifications. I've gotten to play a marine with limited access and an Arab whose access has been revoked due to being Arab (go Bravo), which was fun.

So yeah, I'd like someone or anyone who's able to help me fix this, well, fix this. It's frustrating being told stories by friends about their ludicrous adventures in chat and death. So much like in the game:

MEDIC!

Thanks.

Hey Phil,

Yeah. Pretty much. Nothing works apart from Observe. And the only way I get into games nowadays is to sit as an observer and hope to be around when the game ends to hammer away at the 'Ready' button, praying that it works. Even then, like I've mentioned above, when I get in I can't interact with equipment.

Can you go into a bit of detail about your system? Your operating system, maybe a screenshot of your game while at the ready screen and while observing? I could think of a few things it could be, but it's strange that the issue persists even after a full format. When you try to use the vendors, does nothing happen at all, or does it pop up a blank window?

I've had similar issues, but not as bad. What fixes it for me is to wait. Let everything load when the window opens, give it 30, 40 seconds, then try to click. Does it help even a bit ?

Did you update Byond to the beta version? It might be causing issues.

Thanks for all the replies. Sorry I hadn't gotten back earlier - sort of went to bed.

Yeah I've waited for hours. Literally spent a game and a half before I gave up and decided to play something else. Once got stuck on the post-game ready screen.

Nope. Haven't touched it at all. That said I should try that and see whether that makes a difference. Also since I don't think I've mentioned it I've tried to recreate my account thinking it's an account issue and working through a VPN hoping it's not a network issue. Did the cache clear and removed cfg files from documents. Thus far nothing.

Yeah, normally with interface issues I suggest deleting the skin.dme and skin.dmf files from C:\Users\Username\Documents\BYOND\Skins\exadv1\spacestation13 and rejoining, but a format would have definitely cleared those up already. Give it a shot anyway, just in case. To start with, I'd suggest trying either the byond beta, or a slightly older version of byond.

I'll have a try at this when I get on later. Still don't get why it launched the first time and let me build my character the one time before tu whole thing decided to crap out

Ive only ever used it to play Col Mar and nothing else. I'll have a go at SS13 and report back. Good idea.
