A historical post

Post by Thatnewguy1 » 14 Nov 2017, 13:09

I have created a forum for the Metas of marines that have long since past. while they may have left us, the memories will never be lost.

My favorite of the meta's lost to time has to have been mass deploying m41a rifle's back on the sulaco to stop alien assaults. when vended they automatically had their ugl with a grenade in the chamber. this allowed for multiple marines to carry up to fire a continuous barrage of grenades, stopping and damaging all who would oppose them

Rest in piece grenade spam, gone but never forgoten

You want some history.. Sulaco's un-meltable walls and a 1x1 entrance into the barracks, that was a 1x2 hallway about 4-5 tiles long. the ideal location where the last stand would take place.. Then Stationary MG's were introduced... My god one two rounds of that and that stopped... it was still horrid for the aliens as they had to charge and die in droves. Good times... Pre-alpha times..

When patients had to be wheeled up ladders because hangar was downstairs and med was up. Docs fought bloody wars for the lone OR in the hangar you had to beg RO for a surgery crate to stock. I honestly miss that OR.

When cargo would just get more rifles when they ran out of ammunition instead of ordering more since rifles came loaded.

When xenos brough the rasputin back up in the same spot that it took off from, resulting in a vicious final battle for control of the lower deck.

When the super matter really super mattered :(

A passe of his loyal fans told me to stop draggin him, I told em to fuck off cause I was a medic not even two seconds later, I gotten into a fight with those dipshits and killed by them. Later a baldie dragged my dead body off somewhere and decapped my corpse so I couldn't be cloned (when we used to have that) Ahelped it and everything and all of em got off scott free

When firing range had many earmuffs. AND I only found out they were useful only much later, when sulaco no longer existed.

When napalm grenades were OP and would basically murder everything and forever heat it to ungodly level.

When you could make so called "knightnades" also known as acid nades, that would both kill aliens and humans alike within no time at all unless you had the reaction speed of light.

We going really old here, when someone would steal some c4 and c4 the only shuttle console and eventually blow a hole into space.

Also lets not forget those lovely yellow bravo jumpsuits we used to have with the c20r's.

Going back not to long ago but a thing that was a thing for a long time.

Back when playing PO was actually risky. No CO-Pilot, no sentries, your windows in your cockpit could and would be broken by asshole xenos coming to rape you. Back when your only friend was the shotgun you took from the RO and you only had to press one button every so often. Sometimes I long for the old days of living fast and dying just as fast. If I was as robust back then as I am now, oh the hunters I would have killed. Now with the sentries and all the other new fangled dodads that PO's have they've gone soft. Now when one of their sentries gets slashed or doors melted they cry like massive babies about how the LZ is "to hot" and the FOB "is about to fall any moment now". Cowards. Back in my day, you'd get slashed up, kidnapped, murdered, and all kinds of other things multiple times every round. And that was all before even the fog lifted.

Back when you could decap a marine, cut open their chest to remove the larva inside, then reattach their head and defib to bypass the chest burst even if they were moments away from it.

The only thing that Sulaco atmos was ever useful for...
"Huh, would you look at that... We are screwed yet again."
Plays as Phil "Termite" Smith

You can give a smartgun to every marine, and they would still find a way to FF with it.

I REALLY miss Sulaco evac/SD, to get out alive, you had to give it everything you had to defend that 3x3 hallway and get on the escape shuttles. Best part was that you'd leave while the ship explodes with the xenos still on it. Oh, and my favorite was the midi that would play. Made me feel like there was a true goal to accomplish or something like that.
