Survivor styles

Post by JennerH » 27 Nov 2017, 08:30

How do you survive as a survivor? Do you prefer to snatch a body bag and wait for 30 minutes, or do you like to robust your way to victory?

What tactics work best for you?
What tactics don't work at all?
Most successful survivor run?

I tend to find a body bag if I'm craving that shipside RP, but for the most part I set some sort of goal and try to RP it out, like fixing Tcomms, or holding sec armory, ect.

The one time i survived as a survivor, all three of us went to a medical section and one was a engineer who moved a vendor infront of the door so the runners could get in. That and i had a hold out pistol, somone had a revolver and i think the third had a crowbar or something. Marines came before a acid spitter got in/to us.

This may have been sulaco though.

Edit: basically only sure fire way of surviving, find a engineer and then hide somewhere with once entrance so you have a good fatal funnel.

Go Marshal and hold security. It's all fun and games for hunters until they pounce the guy in front of me and get stun flamed to death by a point-blank incendiary slug.

I rarely roll survivor but when I do I loot and scavenge as much as I can in the first five minutes and then hide and cry until I die or the marines arrive.

In big red, I usually either :
1-Fortify and wall off the body scanner next to surgery, and just get into the scanner and wait.
2-Rush the mini-armory, get the two Mod88s and the two SMGs, and then just get into the morgue and chill inside a tray
In LV, I just rush chef shack and fortify the living hell out of it.
My most successful run was in LV, where I and 2 others holed up in chef shack, Killed so many xenos that they got pissed off enough to send a pair of ravagers and a crusher after us. Marines chased them off and saved us, though.

A long time ago, I used to grab the pickaxe and build myself a cave fort in the far north of the map with many tunnels and a deadly chokepoint, armed with a SVD I was unbreakable, survived the whole round there until a withdrawed marine went after me because, unga dunga. and we ended up killing each other.

One of my best rounds was when i stole an ID and a welding mask from one of the default corpses and laid down on top of him. Runner stood on me and the 2 survivors died in the room next to me without ever knowing I was there because if you looked at it it said colonist ted jerka instead of Madison Delaney. I lived and caused drama with the CL that made him try to kill me, commit suicide and cause an admin event that sent 3 assassins after me and a death squad that eventually blew up the ship. Oh, and when the marines found me I used my appearance to SPOOK the shit out of them

I also got PMed my own assassination orders by accident by Apop,
Super awkward

Our goal is to provde players with a sense of pride and accomplishment when they don't die 5 minutes into the round as survivor.
Or you can pay 2.99 to get an apesuit and a SADAR at round start as survivor

Depends on the map, generally it's grab guns, grab metal, go to power or t-comms depending on the map, fortify, defend until help arrives or death.

Could always try barricading yourself in at the predator ship and camp the ladder.

My most successful run as a survivor was on Big Red when I decided that I wouldn't be a pussy boy anymore and would instead beeline straight towards the armory. I met two other people there and we all contributed to breaking into the armory, where I managed to nab the whole incendiary slug box. We then ran around the colony fighting aliens, killing two or three, before the marines came while we were holding out at the bar fighting a prae. Two of us got instantly shot up by the turret once we made it to LZ1, I died almost instantly. My strategy from there on has always been to beeline towards where there are guns, because chances are that other people will also be there.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Hiding in a locker (classic) works surprisingly well. It's boring, but works (xenos can't see you, and they rarely check there).
Runnin' and gunnin' is a no go for obvious reasons.
If you team up with some buddies, you can hold out TComms or similar positions. That would be my best run also.
I play as Robert 'Scotch' MacMillan.

they rarely bother to pry open every room in the dorms building in ice colony to check every locker there. remember to crowbar the door closed behind you and turn off your flashlight so it doesnt shine thru the locker in case one of them is clever enough to check by turning off their night vision

not a lot of good lockers on lv, though, they often check most if not all of the ones that you can open. remember when thinking about good lockers to hide in, your id might not unlock them all!

refridgerators can be ok because people forget that refridgerators can be hidden in like lockers sometimes

prison station is a pretty big place, try to find a room or cell with a locker in it and crowbar the room shut behind you and etc. and you have a fair chance

never been survivor on bigred

Running and gunning is the only way to glay survivor. Gotta get in those early T1 and T2 kills. Hiding in lockers is for pus pus.

Maybe, but I don't know how you're meant to 1v20 a hive for 15-20 mins. It could be that I'm just an awful shot.

Buckshot shotgun or Inci shotgun, that's even better. Also not all 20 Aliens come at you at the same time. Being fast and not using armor helps you dodge Aliens and ankle-break them. Early aliens are easy meat.

Definitely don't ever let them mass up around you in a cramped space with few exits. They already have 10-20 monkeys by time they go after you, think they mind losing one or three t1s storming your castle?

So now survivors can't fire for some time after leaving lockers because 'muh abuse'.

You can still fire immediately after getting out of disposals, and xenos can't get you out of them without melting the can, so use that!

Best part is if you don't move when you get out you can't be pounced by a warrior caste.

Well, I always tend to go hunt for survivors as sentinel, once i spot one of them, it's about getting close enough to them without being seen, and by the time they notice, i neuro-tox them and pull them to-

Oh shit this is not the hive. Yeah, Marines, Shoot these xenos and shit

Now, Seriously, I have never played survivor before, though it seems interesting.

Do survivors know everything about xenos from the start? Stuff like facehuggers and ventcrawling
