On blankets on the USCM Almayer

Post by edda » 03 Dec 2017, 12:16

Why do marine bunks get blankets but POs and SOs, oh noo, they don't get blankets?

Blankets? You mean the cardboard the marines use to sleep with.

That's just deflecting. Sure, POs and SOs deserve more than cardboard, but right now they have NOTHING. In that situation I'd just throw my flak vest on for warmth.

Because marines are the ones who go down there to risk their asses, they deserve a nice, warm blanket at least.

CM doesn't even have woobies. Or PT belts. This is severely limiting its realism.

Answer is simple. The marine bunks have blankets because the blankets haven't been washed in literal years. The POs and SOs, however, are having their blankets washed on an unmapped area on the ship, and they will be returned at some point after the end of the round.

They use the cryo pods, no need for beds unless it's actually an long operation in which they use the bunks and beds I guess.

The beds are used to extended operations, when going to sleep via cyro is not viable and they need men to be a bit more active but still rested (since thawing does take a bit more time than rubbing the crust out of your eyes.)

That is a good question though. Why do SOs have to sleep without blankets? It is bad enough they get these crappy little rooms to sleep in, but no blankets?

No wonder people hate being an SO so much, they get treated like shit.

SOs get their own rooms on a ship where space is at a premium. They might be terrible rooms buts it better then sleeping 20 to a room or on the floor where all the other crew members probably sleep. Even CMP and RO don't get beds. Maybe SOs don't get blankets but they might have some kind of heating in their little rooms.
