Report against moderator Adralimas

Post by CubaFromCoderbus » 04 Dec 2017, 21:56

Your Byond Key: CubaFromCoderbus

Your Character Name: Beatrix Von Bohlen

Their Byond key:Adralimas

Approximate time and date of the incident (Central Us Time for best results): 12/4/2017 8:28 PM US Central

Which Staff Protocols (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=5647) were broken: - Do not try to heavily influence the game unless it is for very good reasoning such as for an event, a player purposefully holding up the game, dishing out punishment for rule breaking (Examples: a commander killed a marine unjustly, a squad of marines are killing other marines for no reason, a queen is slashing every host known to man, aliens have stacked too many huggers) or other such things.

Do not abuse your power
- This should go without saying, but abusing your power as staff can - and will - result in swift punishment.

Description of the incident: During an emergency evac of the LZ1 FOB, Alamo was nearly full. Chen 'Disco King' Westinton attempted to prevent me from closing the doors as aliens were physically entering the shuttle (Note, they were quite literally physically inside of the shuttle and being followed by a cadre of very large aliens). After the fifth attempt to shut the doors (the aliens crossed into the ship interior after the fourth) I shot him in the head and succeeded in closing the doors.

The ship returned to the Almayer in-tact as the aliens boarding had been dealt with. Adralimas contacted me and told me I should not do this. I said any reasonable person would fire on someone who was killing an entire shuttle full of their best friends, let alone causing themselves personally to be mauled by horrifying monsters. It's also clear to me that Chen would have died regardless of my actions, so killing him was simply a way to preserve the lives of others when his was guaranteed forfeit already.

I accepted Adralimas' judgement and noted that his rule is of course law in the given round, but informed him I would submit a report because I believed this was not in line with the rules, which state (I did not quote them at the time): "Lethal Force Do not physically attack any other human without a legitimate, explainable, roleplay reason that could be applied in a similar, real-life scenario. Even if you are justified, you are still susceptible to Marine Law. If staff don’t believe your reason is good enough, it will be classified as grief and you will receive a ban. Additionally shooting someone because they accidentally friendly-fired you will probably get a ban."

Evidence (screenshots, logs, etc): I'm sorry, but my client crashed and I am not able to produce logs at this time.

How you would punish the accused: I would not punish Adralimas at all. He was extremely polite during the entire exchange, did not assess a punishment against me, admitted he might still have a lot to learn about the rules, and offered to help me learn how to submit a report (although I already knew). I would, however, explain that a person who has a legitimate RP reason such as the threat of not only their own life but also that of others, may violate normal protocols if it is something a reasonable human would do in real life. My intent in submitting this report is for a clarification of the rules, for both me and himself.

How would an admin ever possibly judge the situation without personally viewing it.

Seriously, we get no logs for someone blocking or pushing you away from a button.

So its your word VS his

That's okay, I'm not reporting him (Chen Discoking), as he acted completely in-character and did not do anything unreasonable at all. and I'm quite sure the mod in question and one other player who I know personally can back this story up if for some reason you require that (You shouldn't, I am not asking you to determine whether or not the situation actually happened, but asking you whether or not my understanding of the rules would be correct as applied to the situation I claim has happened). I do not expect Chen to contest the facts of this story and you can contact him if you like, as well as the mod in question. The primary thing I am looking for here is a clarification of the rules. Would it not be correct to say that, when a shuttle has aliens physically overwhelming it, a reasonable person would take any action in their power to protect both themselves and their fellow Marines, and that this is not in fact a breach of the rules?

Regardless of whether or not you believe my account of the events is true, I am asking you to rule on the account which I have presented. No punishment has been assessed against me, I am not asking you to overturn something. I am asking for a clarification of the rules, which clearly state that an action such as shooting a fellow crew member is justifiable if there is a clear RP reason for it. Further, if it's my word against his, there should be no reason to claim I am violating the rules for acting within RP guidelines.

Thanks again.

But this is a Staff Report.

You're legit reporting a staff for breaking rules right now.

Yes. I believe that Adralimas was incorrectly enforcing the rules. Is this not the mode of reporting that? If not, how, other than a staff report, should I report a staff member for failing to enforce the rules properly? My primary concern is not wanting to be banned in the future for acting within the rules of the server which I have carefully read. If I have misunderstood the rules please explain to me how I have misinterpreted the rules, or direct me to the appropriate forum to lodge this type of complaint.

You very clearly broke the escalation rules and blasted someone based on your own opinion. If we allowed everyone to shoot someone because "they believed they RPed it well", half the server would be dead at roubd start.

You didnt roleplay shit with Chen, you and him got into a bumper cars situation and pushed eachother around. Thats not a valid reason to blow someones brains out at all.

Youre now reporting a staff member for enforcing said rules and using actual logs of you shooting said person while claiming he didnt investigate.

I dont understand, your ban is legit and youre reporting a staff member for properly enforcing the rules and banning you.

So to wrap this up;

If youre asking if Adrama did anything wrong, the answer is no.

If youre asking if you did anything wrong, the is yes.

If youre curious if Chen is a known shitler, the answer is yes.

For the third time, I have not been banned. I am not reporting a staff member for properly enforcing the rules and banning me, nobody has been banned.

I am asking if I did something wrong.

I was curious if Chen was a known shitter.

Now that you have explained to me that I have done something wrong, please explain to me what it is I have done wrong, so that I do not do it again. I do not understand how what I have done deviates from rule one of the Marine-Specific rules, which states "Lethal Force Do not physically attack any other human without a legitimate, explainable, roleplay reason that could be applied in a similar, real-life scenario. Even if you are justified, you are still susceptible to Marine Law. If staff don’t believe your reason is good enough, it will be classified as grief and you will receive a ban. How did I violate the clearly stated rules of this server, which say that it is acceptable to use lethal force on another human if you would also do so in the same situation in real life?

This is resolved, as it isnt a staff report.

We have a rule clarification thread in GENERAL DISCUSSION.

You werent banned, so clearly Adrama thought you reason for shooting Chen was acceptable.
However, it is not something you should do so freely and may result in a ban.
