Name/Designation of the Synth Character you’re requesting to use (Follows common naming rules, and requires a first name with no last name): Jim
Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14417)? I've read it over quite a few times, I understand the guidelines and server rules.
Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):
► Show Spoiler
After the disappearance of the Conestoga class troop transport called the USS Sulaco and numerous bouts of CLF activity in the LV-726 sector, a Synthetic named Jim was assigned to the USS Almayer to assist the very understaffed engineering and medical departments.
Jim was currently in the engineering department fixing up a generator that had broken down, listening in on the general communications channel to see if anyone needed any assistance. After repairing the generator and replacing the low fuel cell, he switched over to the engineering communications channel to tell the Chief Engineer.
*bzzt*
“Hello? Chief Engineer Schofield, please respond.” Jim asked on the headset, waiting a few seconds before attempting to reach the Chief Engineer again, maybe he could be napping with his headset off? He heard from the marines that those Hypersleep Chambers were terribly uncomfortable, though he would not really know since Synthetics like him were generally limited in terms of feeling, even though they had the ability to emulate human emotion and feeling to a certain extent. Either way, Jim put this thought aside for the moment to focus on the Chief Engineer, and reasons for why he could not be responding. He realized that there were also two other Maintenance Technicians out of Hypersleep, but they were not in the engineering department at the moment and were non responsive like the Chief Engineer.
“Chief Engineer Schofield, please respond or I will be forced to come to your office to check on you. I would also like a response from the two Maintenance Technicians, otherwise I will also have to alert the military police of your non responsiveness.” Jim said, only to be greeted with silence again. With a worried expression, Jim quickly exited the generator room, heading to the nearest ladder to climb up and check on the non responsive Chief Engineer and Maintenance Techs. After reaching the top, he walked towards the CE’s office, noting that his window shutters were closed for some reason, and that the place was basically empty. Attempting to open the airlock with his ID proved unsuccessful, with the card scanner giving off a light buzz after being swiped. The airlock also seemed to be bolted shut.
With a confused expression, he noted that the maintenance hatch to the Chief Engineer’s airlock was screwdrivered open, with all of the wires cut. This was Damage to Government Property, the wires were deliberately cut to lock out any personnel from entering. He would have to inform the Military Police about this. Switching over to the general communications channel he asked for the Military Police to come and assist.
“Excuse me, I would like for someone part of the Military Police to come to the Engineering department, I believe that an airlock here has been deliberately damaged by someone. All of the Engineering department is also unresponsive.”
After waiting for a few seconds, he was replied to by the Chief MP. “Apologies Jim, Chief MP here, we’re afraid that we’re low on manpower here and it would take a long time for one of us to get over there. The marines are being quite rowdy today, we’re making quite a few arrests. I implore you to try to fix the airlock or investigate yourself though. If you find something of high importance then by all means, call out on comms and we’ll try to respond as soon as possible.”
Nodding to himself, Jim responded politely. “I understand, I will attempt to fix the airlock to check on the Chief Engineer, thank you for the advice. Looking around the room, Jim spotted a toolbox and a pair of insulated gloves. He walked over to grab both items and briskly walked back to the damaged airlock. Putting on the gloves, Jim looked inside the toolbox to pull out a pair of wire cutters. Carefully mending the wires one by one, he took a multitool out of the toolbox to get ready for fixing any mechanical issues.
*tap*
Hearing the noise approaching him, he turned his head around to look towards the source of the noise. It was one of the Maintenance Technicians, a male. Reading the ID card on his uniform, his name was Jerry Cougher. The Maintenance Technician’s face looked surprised for a second, before he regained his posture by coughing a bit and then looking towards Jim, with a nervous face.
“Good day, Maintenance Technician Cougher.” Jim started off.
“Er, ah, yes, hello! What might you be doing there, Jim?” Cougher asked.
“Chief Engineer Schofield has been unresponsive ever since I tried to speak to him after fixing the generators in the power room, and so have you and the other Maintenance Technician. Would you mind telling me why you all have been so quiet lately? This behavior is unlike you all.”
With a nervous undertone, Cougher attempted to redirect the conversation. “Well, before I tell you, can you please pronounce my last name right? It’s pronounced Koh-er. I’m sorry, it just really irks me when people say my last name wrong.”
Nodding towards Cougher, Jim apologized. “I’m terribly sorry, It’s just that your ID card leans towards the more common way of saying it. Either way, would you please stay with me here so that we can both check on the Chief Engineer? I am quite worried about him and he may need assistance. Also where is the other Maintenance Tech, Violet was her name, correct?”
Cougher breathed in sharply, before quickly responding with an excuse. “Oh yeah, Violet’s off in the recreations room, she’s been workin hard and she needed a break. I’m feeling really famished right now, I gotta go to the lobby for a sec to get some Kepler Crisps or something. Be back soon.”
Nodding towards Cougher again, Jim smiled and went back to fixing the last wire in the Airlock. “I understand, please come back soon though. Thank you for telling me how to pronounce your last name as well, otherwise I probably would’ve said it every time I greeted you.”
Chuckling, Cougher walked off towards the lobby, opening the airlock with a swipe of his ID and exiting. Having finished mending the last wire in the airlock, he started pulsing each wire, making sure to reverse the wire that would electrocute the door by cutting the wire and mending it again. Pulsing the final wire, the door clicked and emitted a light beeping sound. Smiling to himself, Jim decided that he would attempt to contact the Chief Engineer again before entering his office, just to make sure he would not be intruding on anything.
“Chief Engineer Schofield, I have repaired your door and will be entering soon if you do not respond, please give me a sign that you are okay within 10 seconds or I will enter immediately.”
No response again, Jim took out his ID card and swiped the door, and quickly took note that all of the lights in the Chief Engineer’s office were off. Feeling around for the lightswitch while standing in the doorway, he found it and flicked it on.
A shocked expression registered on Jim’s face. The Chief Engineer was on the ground, tied with cable coil by the hands and legs, with multiple stab wounds in his chest, there was a tiny pool of blood under him.
Running towards the Chief Engineer, he turned him over and attempted to find a pulse. A relieved face registered on Jim, he found a pulse but it was getting slower. He had to alert the Military Police and Medical staff immediately.
“Attention, all available Military Police and Medical staff to the Engineering department please, the Chief Engineer has been found in his office with multiple stab wounds and is dying. I repeat, all available Military Police and Medical staff to the Engineering department please. I will attempt to stabilize him.”
“We’re in the middle of a meeting he- Oh wait, holy shit, MPs, get over there now, that’s an order!” yelled the CMP to his MPs.
“Two doctors to the Engineering department now, bring a rollerbed and prep for one wounded.” said the CMO, although his tone was more urgent than usual.
Running out the door into the main room, Jim found an emergency medical vendor on the wall. Quickly dispensing a Tricordazine injector, a roll of gauze, and some ointment, he ran back into the Chief Engineer’s office. Unzipping the Chief Engineer’s uniform so that he would have a clearer view, he injected him with the Tricordazine so that he would stay alive and hopefully improve. Taking the cap off of the ointment tube, Jim squeezed some ointment into his hands before lathering it on the Chief Engineer’s chest to prevent or combat any possible infections that could’ve been acquired during the time he was left here, and patched the wounds with gauze.
Untying the cable coil on the Chief Engineer’s legs and arms, Jim carried him out to the main room of the Engineering department. Vending a health analyzer from the emergency medical vendor on the wall, Jim analyzed the Chief Engineer to find that he was improving steadily and at the 45% mark now.
Running into the room, Cougher and Violet looked at the hurt Chief Engineer and then at Jim. Cougher moved towards Jim alongside Violet with a regretful face, they also both appeared to be holding something in one of their hands.
“Cougher and Violet, do you two feel alright? Would you also please help me watch over the Chief Engineer? His condition is steadily improving, but I would like for you two to stay for when the Military Police arrives.”
Suddenly, Cougher runs towards Jim with his screwdriver raised high, acting as if it was a knife. Caught off guard, and in a crouched position near the Chief Engineer, the screwdriver drives into Jim’s shoulder up to the handle part, before Jim is punched in the face by Violet, knocking the communications headset out of his ear.
“I’m sorry that it had to come to this, Cougher and Violet.” Jim said to the two.
Jim reacted by grabbing Cougher by both of his legs, dragging him towards himself and tripping him in the process and then shoved Violet away from him to get the chance to stand up. Leaving the screwdriver in his shoulder, Violet pulled out a kitchen knife, most likely made from the autolathe near the Pilot’s office and landing zones, and ran towards Jim.
Jim grabbed Violet by the wrist as she swung towards him, twisting it hard enough to make her drop it, before chopping at her neck and knocking her out. Jim then turned towards Cougher, who now had a monkey wrench in his hand.
“Cougher, you can lay down your weapon at any time and surrender, I do not want to hurt you, nor do I think that you want to hurt me.”
Cougher paid no mind to Jim’s words, instead running at Jim while screaming “For the CLF!”
Jim ducked under Cougher’s swing, grabbed his wrist, and yanked the wrench out of his hands before delivering a controlled hook behind his ear, knocking him out.
“Guh, wha, where am I?” The now awake Chief Engineer mumbled out.
Looking out the airlock windows, Jim could see a group of 2 Military Police and 2 doctors with a rollerbed, and looked towards the Chief Engineer.
“You are in safe hands now, do not worry. You will be taken to the medbay soon, I will accompany you while explaining the situation to you and the Military Police.”
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
► Show Spoiler
Jim tries his best to be polite and calming, although he may come off as creepy in the calming part. You can swear all you want at him for attempting to help you pilot a dropship, at best he will probably stop his work to ask you to stop and resume. If he has to resort to fighting in a situation, he usually tries to do it quickly while aiming to prevent hurting the target as Synthetics are designed to be the ultimate utility worker, needing to be stronger, smarter, and faster than the average human. He will try to apologize to anyone he has to engage, as he usually believes that it is his fault that it had to come to fighting unless proven otherwise. If a marine is near death on the ground, Jim will try to soothe the person before attempting to treat them or transport them to the nearest medical center instead of flat out telling them that they will die. He will mainly focus on engineering roles, such as maintaining generators or building FoBs, but he can also take up the mantle of a doctor if needed. Jim will attempt to interact with ship side crew such as doctors, MTs, or even SOs if they have the freetime, and talk with them about certain topics like their opinion on Weyland Yutani or what they think of Kepler Crisps, mainly to build relations and to help the people that don't trust Synthetics see that they aren't all that bad.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)
Medical: I know how to do surgery and will try to heal people to their fullest if supplies permit it. I've been a doctor before and I go CMO sometimes.
Engineering: I have played as a Squad Engineer a lot, I'm able to build pretty decent FoBs given enough materials and I go MT or CE sometimes to get the rust off of my generator repairing skills.
Science: I've played as a Researcher a few times, and I've dabbled a lot in this area as CMO on rounds where we don't have a Researcher.
Command: I do not trust myself with CO or XO leadership responsibilities, but I have played SO quite a few times and I interact with my squad a lot to check if they need supplies.
Millitary Police: I've dabbled in this area quite a bit, I know Marine Law and It's similar to playing security on regular SS13 servers, barring the marines with guns part.
Why should we whitelist you? Ooh, this is a hard one. I'd like to think that I'm pretty experienced with this server, and it's encouraged me to set up macros if I wanted to use shotguns and other items effectively. Heck, I even know how to set safeties on guns at this point. I think I behave pretty well, definitely a lot better then when I first started out on the server, though I might accidentally take a pill as a standard, because I'm still trying to get the old medic habits off. I like to think of myself as an okay RPer, though some other people might not see it that way since I barely punctuate my sentences, though I usually only do this when I'm something like a standard marine since I don't have much importance in the whole shindig, and I'm usually only playing to have fun and not RP much, so I don't need to sound really professional. As a role of higher importance like an SO I put more effort into punctuation and sentence structure and overall trying to not sound like a boot. I play to have fun, but I like to help out others to improve their game too.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? I believe that the only ban I've ever had was because of accidental EORG, it was only for a few hours and also a few months back.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? Nope, I'm clean.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline? Yeah, I understand this.
Any criticisms are welcome, tell me what you don't like, what you like, anything, thank you!
