Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
I do.
Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
Yes I do understand the power the BE gives to Commanders. I believe Commanders must apply the BE in very specific cases such as: the Operation is being threatened, my life as a Commander is under risk and when the life of Marine or any member of the ship is at risk either on the ground or on the planet.
Commanders should not apply a BE on minor offenses such as disrespect or insubordination (unless such insubordination had led to one of the specific criteria already stated above) because there’s a reason why we have MPs and their job is to take care of such cases. BEs should never be carried out for cowardice as it indulges fear in the Marines and fear in a fighting force never goes well no matter how it’s implemented.
Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Yes, I do. I play CMP/MP frequently and I know what a Commander can and cannot do with the Marine Law.
What do you think is the job of a Commander?
A Commander is someone the Marines can look up too, either with fear or with admiration. For the Commander, Marines or any member of the ship are not tools but rather, followers. The way a Commander treats his followers is what will define him as either a “Ruthless” or “Comprehensive” Commander. A ruthless Commander requires fear in order to guide his Marines into victory no matter what, this usually ends up in BEs that could be easily prevented or the Marines themselves making stupid decisions as fear is induced into their behavior. A comprehensive Commander will listen to their Marines, let them voice their opinions and most importantly, no scare tactics are used in order to keep the Marines at bay.
If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
This will depend in the situation the Insubordination has occurred, a key element in leadership is preventing Insubordination because it shows weakness in your command and will usually spread to other members of the Command Staff. I shall mention some situations where disobedience has happened and how I will handle it (ordered from the less threatening first to the more threatening last:
• I exit the CiC in order to oversee the other departments or handle a special or critical situation where I’m needed. I appoint the XO to man the helm while I’m busy just to come back and see he is resolving a matter with the MPs.
A: I will ask why, if the reasoning given by the XO is credible I shall let it pass. If not, a verbal warning is enough and remind him that repeating it gain may lead to the application of the Marine Law (Insubordination).
• A SO is giving conflicting orders to the squad.
A: I will proceed in questioning him regarding the conflicting orders, if the SO has a valid reason behind his actions I shall let him proceed (i.e.: the squad is unable to push due to low numbers). If it was just plain confusion, I will just apply a verbal warning. If his reason is not valid I shall order an arrest for Insubordination, the time is up to the MPs, if the situation repeats, demotion.
• An OB is fired killing a large amount of Marines.
A: I shall look into the reasoning behind the OB and also take into the account the losses. If the losses where major and the SO shows regret, I shall order the MPs to arrest the SO for several counts of manslaughter with no execution. If the SO shows no regret whatsoever and proceeds to take an offensive stance on me, I will go for a BE as he has clearly met two of my BE criteria.
Why should you be whitelisted?
I want to change how Marines see the CO. We’ve seen the classic, ruthless CO that threatens Marines with BEs, insults them and outright treats them as tools rather than followers. My playstyle as CO is to be focused as a comprehensive one that places the lives of the Marine into his thoughts. Always asking feedback from not only the SOs but also, the Marines themselves as they’re the ones that possess the most information of what is happening on the ground. I will refrain from using scare tactics such as BEs or suicidal charges due to them always leading in very negative consequences. I may be deemed as too “soft” but sit down and think, would you take out the life of a Marine just because he fears death? Yet, I will make sure that such “softness” will not be my weakness and I will never let my guard down as a Commander.
During my XO rounds, many users (even Commanders) have requested me to make an application. This what has convinced into making this app due to many people knowing that I will handle the job of a Commander with no problems.
