LocalizedDownpour - Commander Application
Byond ID: LocalizedDownpour
Player name you use the most: Sepherina Cato

No applications, Whitelists, appeals, or bans in the past year.
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
I fully understand.
Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
As I understand the Battlefield Execution can be used ONLY by the commander and admirals, it can be used without due process, and it should only be used if the Commander feels like the individual is a threat to the mission, even so, the commander must state WHY he has executed the crew member, and the player is still held responsible for his actions, and if the reasoning isn't good enough then you could see yourself removed from the whitelist.
Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Only MPs are allowed to enforce marine law, and while you can order someone arrested for breaking it, you are not to dispense justice yourself as that falls to the MPs. No one is above Marine Law...not even the Commander.
What do you think is the job of a Commander?
To coordinate the ground forces and the shipside operations of the marines. To work in tandem with your bridge staff to ensure supplies are sent and orders are being followed. I believe it is the Commanders job to oversee the 'big picture' of an operation and ensure all departments have what they need to run at peak efficiency.
If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
It would depend on the pace of the round, and the nature of the insubordination. In the frantic last moments of a ships defense it might be let go, the crew member in question arrested once things were settled. However in the case of a marine, or bridge staff member couter-acting orders because they think they know best, true or not
Why should you be whitelisted?
I rather liked the command role before it was whitelisted, and the role itself seems pretty fun to play with all the additions to the command aspect of the game. I play bridge officer on occasion, once or twice a day abouts. I'm fairly decent on following rules, and I feel I can make the rounds interesting as I do like to RP in roles and I feel like the Commander has a good amount of leeway to do that on a broader spectrum.

Re: LocalizedDownpour - Commander Application
I do not think that I recognize your character out of the back of my head, especially XO or heads of staff. SO is a good leader role, but there is a bigger sense when you are the XO without a CO, and, there are a lot of people who play SO, and they do not stand out much.
Your questions are standard, but not bad. You have clearly have been playing a lot, and theoretically have enough skill and smarts to play commander role, but, again, one of the only factors is that I have not seen you in-game much.
Quick question, how proficient are you in other roles or skills(medical, engineering, cargonia, etc.)?
Neutral for now.

I play as Monday "Scatter" Williams, he is the guy that takes no one seriously, except his good friend, his work.

Re: LocalizedDownpour - Commander Application
Mainly I play marine roles, SL and Medic mostly, though I have been playing ALOT more SL lately as I find leading a squad fun...if not abit nail biting.Lukey111 wrote: ↑25 Jan 2018, 13:14I do not think that I recognize your character out of the back of my head, especially XO or heads of staff. I have played Doctor and CMO afew times, as well as CL, I play Pilot, both CAS and Transport.
I even play CT and RO, and I think I am rather efficient given the fact I never SSD in roles, or go Cyro as there is always something to do in this role.
The only role I never really touch is Engineer and CE, but I do know the role from an OOC standpoint.
Also, I've started using 'Sepherina Cato' after the character wipe due to hairstyles, but my older character is Reina Sanada, if that helps.

Re: LocalizedDownpour - Commander Application
Haven't heard of him either, which happens for marine main people, I reccomend playing as more department heads, SO, and XO... mainly XO.
I am gonna have to put a +.5 just from your in-game reputation and your lack of XO activity
P.S. May change from future comments.

Actually called me out on things that I did wrong today, which would mean that they have a good grap on the rules and marine law.
Albiet your a snowflake. But I like your flakeyness.

Ugh, you won't like what I'll say, so don't take it close to the heart
Don't like people buckshotting applications with you having mod app and CO app at the same time, it spreads your attention. Will you be playing as CO, or will you moderate server after (or if) you are accepted for both?
App formatting is really baaaad
Seen you few times in game, had no contact with ya, which is usually a good thing
What can I say is if my first two issues were somehow addressed it would be solid +1
But I also can't give -1, because you are not known to be a bad player
Right now all I can give is +0

I used to format given to me, but if you have tips for a better format I'd be more then open to the criticism.NethIafins wrote: ↑08 Feb 2018, 04:56Ugh, you won't like what I'll say, so don't take it close to the heart

As for the 'buckshotting' applications, I did make this one first, and only considered being a mod due to SLC saying mods were needed, and given I am former staff I thought it would be good to return as I did like moderating the sever and I believe I had a good track record in doing so. That said, the 'split' attention thing is not really fair I think, alot fo the mod team plays and moderates, and it isn't like I would be CO every single round of course. Though given the stresses of command AND the stresses of modding I could see myself going Deadmin on rounds I play commander as to not do a poor job on two fronts.
I hope this answers an concerns, though I would like to know what you mean about formatting however as I have no idea how to fix the format given.

Re: LocalizedDownpour - Commander Application
Valid point.
But you have to understand that being on trial you should be moderating every round you can, as we (and heads) should have ample time to assess your performance as mod and fix any issues/troubles that you will 100% have during your trial
Fixing formatting is on you, check other apps - you should make it clear where are questions and where are your answers. All this is on you, and maybe you are right that formatting should be updated, but you also should have some idea about readability
However, that being said, the fact that you cared about my response sways my answer into +1 territory.
