The update to the timeline.

So i had a look on the wiki today at the timeline again. its been updated and apparently the current year is 2186. After the release of Space beast and before it got outlawed in fact theres a good chance half the marines have at least heard of if not read it themselves. Wouldn't this give marines grounds to know about the xenos and therefore metagame? Not to mention the USCM has dealt with the Hadleys hope colony ordeal on Archeron (LV-426) even if the whole squad was wipeo'd and the sephora went dark too the USCM still got Hicks message that led the sephora to follow. Not to mention Amanda Ripleys recovery of the Nostromos BB would have given some info even if it went to wey-yu. Then there would be any event's Post Sevastopol.

Not saying i am or anyone else should use the timeline to give a reason to meta-game. But some might if they notice like i have. And to those of you who say "in resurrection the betty's crew didn't know about the xenos aside from Call", Res was like 200 years after Fury prison events, plenty of time for people to completely forget about Morse and his book.

I guess its all a question of whether we try to consider Almayer events semi-canon or not (it cant really be considered full canon cant it?). or is it an alternate timeline. And where do we want the canon to meet the non canon for game purposes because by this point in time the USCM has long known and been at war with the xenos (Hicks by rights had already fought xenos and lost his wife to them, hence the heart under lock and key(thanks alientheory for filling in gaps i didnt know already)). Would a change in the Almayers lore be allowed to cover the fact that these marines dont know anything even though the info would be free use by this time? Maybe something like changing the christening date to before the Sevastopol events so theres less chance of having info leaks.

Hadley's Hope was never successfully investigated, and no messages were received by USCM command after the Sephora got boned.

Some parts of Weyland are aware of xenomorphs, but other than that they are a complete anomaly.

All other events in the timeline were assumed to be caused by either the CLF or UPP. Which would make sense if marine ships are being destroyed or 'lost' (the CLF have anti-sat missles and the UPP have robust spacecraft)

Could the marines have read "Space Beast"?

I mean, yeah, you could have. When's the last time you grabbed a tabloid to read?

Or a science fiction book, but by an author who insists that it's real, despite no proof?
