Have marines won a zombie round?

Post by Survivor » 11 Feb 2018, 22:23

Another zombie round happened today, and could you guess it? We got wiped. Has anyone ever witnessed the marines overcoming the zeds? My closest thing to a victory was surviving till the SD went off.

Yeah we did manage to persuade the admins into giving us the cure, but otherwise I just ran around like an idiot for the last 10 minutes till SD because everyone wasted the cure

Marines lost the second I cryoed; 3 synths were needed to make the cure and filter it through the vent system.

One round a few months ago I swear we came close getting rid of all infected personnel. We'd walled off the Alamo to where the only entrance was through a long path to medbay where we could control who made it through, meaning we drag a zombie out and dispose of their body in a timely manner.

It all went to hell when the admins sent ERTs of more zombies. Reward creativity and teamwork with getting dunked on.

The issue is the creation of the cure itself. Im sure plenty of the researcher old guard are capable of creating maxcap bombs within ten minutes of roundstart on other servers and were behind the creation of doomsday nades before the grenade system got nerfed. Any competent researcher could therefore get a cure not too long after first contact with the infected. Therefore, the admins probably hold off on the cure for the sake of not implementing a meta whatsoever.

Didnt the round crash? Or did I facking miss a zombie round?
“Here is the wild Homo Sapien hunting its prey. The humanoids are pack hunters, using their shoddy armor as a pitiful defense against the towering Insecta. The human is quickly downed by the Insecta’s powerful slash. But, sheer numbers of humanoids rampage the abuser and Insecta is eventually burned to death, beaten, and dismembered.”

So, long ago when I would play researcher a lot, I got the cure. I vaccinated the highest ranking people on the ship, but when evac got called a lot of infected and non infected fled the ship. I decided to hop on an escape pod knowing that the only existing cure left on the ship would be in my body, and that once we were found we might synthesize a cure to prevent the spread.

Funny. Last night, I was one of the last remaining survivors, if not the only one. I had a sample of the cure in my lab coat pocket, and had made my way all over the ship, even dealing with a power game wheelchair zombie that may or may not have had B18 on. I tried my best to evacuate the ship with the sample of the cure, but not a single pod or dropship was active, but to my dismay, SD was activated. I decided to die on my own terms, and got blown up. I almost escaped with a sample of the cure.

Whenever I play, there's just so much broken shit for zombies that admins give them so many advantages (Don't use a powerloader; it's so OP against zombies that admins will blow you up) due to them being broken that it's nigh impossible for zombies to loose. This includes sending in more zombies in ERT or on the cargo lift, if cargo is one of the strongholds of resistances.

the point of zombies isnt to win or lose, its how fun blasting them is, I always have fun just unloading all kinds of shotgun ammo in their sponge corpses, when I die im not even mad.

its very difficult to win those rounds because the way the transmission of the disease is delt with is very clever and sneaky. being around or on vomit is bad, items handled or used against Zulus physically can get contaminated (you'll notice a sprite overlay of a tar-like substance on your weapon), and zombies only have to hit you once to spread it. best part is you might not even develop obvious symptoms for 5-8 minutes.

Zulus have a sort of process where fresh ones are quite speedy, but each time you kill them they seem to get slower yet tougher. Admin-spawned Zulus tend to actually sprint, so there's that too.

pretty much the only way to win is to find a way off the ship without getting infected, which is almost impossible now.

Winning against zombies would be boring as fuck.
The only way to currently win, is to give yourselves the vaccine, kill a zombie, inject with the vaccine so he doesnt revive.... rinse and repeat on EVERY zombie.

This is one of the things I've noticed about CM admins.
They'll set up events and then won't let it organically play out. Obviously it's ok to step in if the game is being broken and stuff but I still feel like a lot of times it makes for a better story and experience for players if the round is allowed to continue untouched. I swear I've seen several stories that boil down to "We did a cool/unusual thing that doesn't happen very often but then the admins sent an ERT and shut it down."
I play as Evan Haynes.
Mostly main xeno, though.

Admins really don't like it when rounds go off the beaten path. How dissappointing.

bah, maxcaps in 10. 22 separate remote detonators ready in 15 min, WITH instructions to not blow everyone up with it written well enough for BALDIES to understand it, in each bag! now that was the run.

legit max-max cap grenades done in 30 minutes if you could sneak into the shuttle and grab some stuff. haha!

But! you always had to horde it till late in the round, only honorable way to play, no powergamin' 20 minute victories.
