question about general chat being removed
Havent played with this change yet but I'm wondering why this was done? General really didn't change much before imo. Was this supposed to be a nerf to the marines?

Re: question about general chat being removed
Quite a lot of discussion about this already on the larger threads.
No this wasn't a "Nerf" to marines.
Shipside roles still have access to general comms so you can still communicate between departments when needed.
As far as my opinions go on the matter, it was done for a number of reasons:
Stem the swarm of memes at roundstart etc where everyone is trying to have coversations and memeing on the Almayer.
Stop rambo behaviour on the ground. With only being able to speak on your squad comms it is much harder for someone to think "fob dutee sux lolol, imma be sh00t the xen0s" and run off to join another squad.
Improve cohesion in squads, I've noticed a lot more comms in squads after the update for the better, people are talking with their squads rather than just chatting with 'meta buddies' in other squads!
Stops marines ignoring command and orders. Taking away the squads abilities to just discuss things over general comms on the planet and come up with their own plans and ignore command entirely the SLs rely moreso on their OW for info on other squads and what they should do.
Improve info relay. Squads and SLs relay more info nowadays as they need the SOs and XOs to relay info to other squads to ensure something is done!
Can this be considered a "Nerf" i wouldnt say so, althiufh, possibly in some people's eyes.
Does it affect the marines amazingly? No I wouldn't say so.
Does this rely on competent SLs and SOs/XOs to make work properly? Yes more than usual!
