Most accidentially robust moment you've ever had

Post by Hastati » 10 Mar 2018, 11:53

So, we have a thread for unrobustness, and one for being a badass mofo, but the really special moments are when you stumble your way into doing something cool with 0 actual intention by yourself.

I'll start.

FoB duty manning the barricades, see a crusher coming right at us. I flip the barricade to stop it, only it's too late and it gets past. Except I DO get the barricade up, just it is now trapped in a double layered barricade system, where it is promptly shot to death by a dozen marines in CQ.

The marines were ordered to make a general retreat back to the Nexus after the benos at hydroponics were too strong. Hydro was extremely well fortified and had 1 sentry facing north. Me and 1 other boot were left behind in the chaos buckshotting every tier-1 trying to get inside while our squads left us. We ended up holding the dome entirely and having the marines push back to us. It was great.

Roundstart, I am a survivor. I am thinking of hiding because I am incredibly unrobust. Found another survivor. Had a sawed off shotgun and she had the shotgun from LV-624 nexus.
We decide we should barricade some place and defend ourselves. We end up a killing lot of the hive up. Queen sends us runners and spitters and we just buckshot them. Then I buckshot the Survivor. Twice. Then i get slashed by a runner. We are both dead at this point and marines have arrived to get the power up. We get revived and get on to USS Almayer.

Last able bodied marine on the surface; get hands on dead SL's OB; think there's 2-3 xenos on the other side of a wall so i plant the beacon and call in a strike; accidentally kill ENTIRE hive (between 7-15 xenos) and win the round with said OB (only a random pair of runners left after the OB, xenos were massing for a final push to murder me and a few paincrit guys hiding behind FOB turrets).

oof. I dream of OBs like that, but I've never had the opportunity to witness ones like that. Was this in the past where OBs dealt more damage to the queen?

Once I chased down some elite runner because he was bothering medics, I went alone because the only people around were either injured or medics. Yeah well I ended up shooting it up quite abit dancing around it, but then the hunter hits a pounce. I'm thinking it's all over but it fell into crit right on top of me. Some predator nearby was laughing about watching it. Another time I was playing engineer and some crusher was messing with my cades, so I'm up there repairing them when he comes for another charge and breaks down the Cade, I beat him up with my welder because it was all I had at the moment, and he ended up dying two tiles out of my Cade line.

I was the CE on UPP event round.
The entire CIC staff was dead 'cept for me, I hid in the dark throwing slugs into UPP heads while at it.
After this goes on for a while and me yelling at the ground marines to come up, they finally got up, looted a dead spec for their NV googles, retook CIC (it was empty) but the comms console was broken (admemes probably), seeing this I remembered a thing: THE CMP FAX MACHINE, so we went down and sent a fax to HC, sadly there was no reply.
Anyway, in the end all we did was wander around the ship and knock out lights while hunting UPPs.
In that moment I truly felt like the ULTIMATE BADASS.
Until DS2 crashed and I got caught in the fringe of the explosion and got put into paincrit.

Not mega robust but I found it pretty amusing and it happen'd recently while playing engi on BIG.

Was moving a barricade to the front to fill in a hole when a crusher charges through the breach I was gona repair towards me.

A quick last second panic turn and I ended up accidentally dragging the baricade behind me and in the process blocking the charge.

this was when the ob was 3 blasts, and you needed to hit the queen with all 3 to kill her.

Alpha squad was supposed to stay at LZ1, but I broke away to medical to loot shit.

I encountered two survivors about to get wrecked by two aliens. I killed the first xeno and wounded the other with buckshot. By now more marines had come to investigate my gunfire and they chased the other off.

Pumped my shotgun again and had the survivors explain everything on the spot or end up like the steaming pile of gibs. They complied, marines steamrolled the rest of the round with their insight.

As a meme I took both PO's Mod88 holsters from the dropship on pre-movement buff ice, ended up soloing the queen with them.

As queen, I was assisting at the front lines after hitting Elite Emperess. We had hit the Cafeteria on Prison, and I was setting up a hive there to return to Ovi. Taking a moment, I walked around to check our surroundings, and headed down the one hallway with the bathrooms that went towards the LZ, with only the end of the hallway, being a wall, in the way. Forgetting I had my charge on, I plowed through the wall, straight into the middle of most of the Marines in the middle of that section of their defenses. They had built up barricades everywhere else, except the walled area. While both myself and the marines panic'd, myself getting fired upon heavily, I panic screeched, bringing down almost all those poor marines. It was at this point that the hive had figured out I had fucked up, and came running. The whole entirety of the hive poured out of the single hole I had incidentally made, slashing, biting, and burning the marines.

They didn't stand a chance, and I was praised for my fuckup. We took the bird soon after, and won the round.

Yesterday I and another deltard got lost and killed multiple tier 3 xenos, before shooting the queen in medical. Happened on big red. Never underestimate a pulse rifle with a QF and EB.

Not mine, but we were holding the drop ship about to lift off to evac the planet, queen runs in and screeches, then sprints into the cockpit and locks the drop ship while 40 marines were still inside.

It was a slaughter, a few is us made it to LZ 2 to evac but the round was well over by then...

The round after mortars were introduced, the map was Ice. I ended up manning the mortar, with the guy who I forgot the name of[/s] Dothgar "Fire" Folk being the spotter. I only "missed" one shot, and it was a calibration shot (The shot not meant to land anywhere near the enemy). I proceded to hit every single co-ordinate pair after that, and after running out of lethals I fired a flash, which hit two boilers(Who were not finished off). Me and Dothgar were recommended for medals, no idea if we got them because after being wounded and evacing the planet with the rest of the muhreens, my wifi dropped and I was unable to rejoin the round until the next one started. Otherwise I am the single most unrobust marine ever to walk the earth.

I once took out 2 smartgunners as an Elite spitter. Figured out marines were aware of me and looking for me, then i reached ancient, which makes you a neurotoxin machinegun, and i engaged this deltard smartgunner who had BC, managed to dodge most of the burst he fucking shot on me, and my well calculated neurotoxin spits got him in a masterfully calculated spit after an intense show off of ranged skills. ̶N̶a̶h̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶k̶i̶d̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶i̶ ̶s̶p̶a̶m̶m̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶s̶h̶i̶t̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶h̶a̶r̶d̶ ̶i̶ ̶a̶l̶m̶o̶s̶t̶ ̶b̶r̶o̶k̶e̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶m̶o̶u̶s̶e̶'̶s̶ ̶m̶i̶d̶d̶l̶e̶ ̶b̶u̶t̶t̶o̶n̶.̶ , after that, it was old good pull, slash, neuro, slash, slash, slash, neuro. Took out three smartgunners, a shitton of PFCs along with some MPs and armed civs at the alamo (I legit killed more than 13 people, not even kidding.)

Point of the story is, if i hadn't stunned that one smartgunner, i would have definitely died, because BC smartgunner is just fucking nasty

I uh.. Uhm. Set down an OB, thinking it was a SB once. And then someone said somewhere something about an OB, and the SO sent it, and it just so happened to be when a HORDE of like, 12 xenos rushed in. Marines ran, someone threw a smoke grenade. Queen stunned no one. Then this god awful screech as like, 10 xenos died from direct OB that was accidentally sent instead of a Squad resupply.

I got a pretty cool one. It was on prison. I was SADAR spec and went to the front. There was a hunter around the Corner right infront of me and a runner was sneaking up from the flank. The hunter went into my line of fire, so I shot, directly hitting the hunter. The runner that was trying to flank me tried to jump at me, but missed and got hit by my backblast, which fucked it up good. I then finished both of them with my SMG. Was pretty funny.

Was running to SD as a doctor with a bulletproof vest and a tacticool shotty in hand. Was gonna go in a pod with Charlie SL, but suddenly, an Ancient Hunter jumped on him. Me and another marine just pulled our shotty out and blew the ancient meme the hell away. After that I evacced out safely. After that, in dchat, the ancient hunter told me that it'd missed every single tackle on me.
