As he exited the stasis pod, John was thinking back to the stories his great-grandfathers had told him about their times in the Second World War. He was wondering what stories he might tell to his kids, or if he never had any, nephews. He would be certain to tell them about his first deployment, which would soon commence. As he stared out towards the stars, the other ships in the invasion fleet started poping into veiw. He looked down towards the green planet, and walked away towards the prep rooms. He, and everyone else above the planet, had no idea what was going to happen to them. Those poor bastards.

15 Minutes after awakening from Stasis.

As John looked down on his checklist, he looked at the supplies that he had gathered for himself on the table in front of him. He was marking off what he had on the table with what appeared to be a newly - bought pencil.

As he put the supplies into the pack and boarded the dropship, he listened to the others around him.
¨Did you hear?¨ A middle-aged man with black hair said to a young women next to him.¨The rebels barely have any troops. It´s a wonder how they took the planet.¨
A blonde woman with shoulder-length hair, as they were tying it into a ponytail, told the private next to them ¨This drop will be over in a month. Maybe two at most. We will be back home on leave by Christmas.¨ As the dropship touched down at the capital cities spaceport, John unbuckled himself and walked out along with the rest of the marines onboard, to the sight of mass mobilization. As per orders, John walked over to a small train with a black trim and entered through the main door. As the brief had stated earlier, the marines from his ship, as they were so few, were all going to be deploying to the same area. The marines were also divided into 4 squads, though some, like John
were moved to a fifth squad, which contained medic, engineers, and the like to be shuffled around depending on the needs of each squad. They were heading to a small town called Calax, which was about 5 hours away. As he fell asleep in his seat, John wondered what Calax would be like.
