A general overview of a single round's political spiderweb.

Post by Jerkface00 » 23 Mar 2018, 19:49

Ran an event; people asked for an overview of everything that happened because to be in it as a standard was a confusing, exciting, and chaotic ride.

TL;DR Politics strong.

1) CLF raided solaris ridge and discovered a bio-weapons production lab. They set up shop so they could steal/destroy the weapon.
2) the colony distress beacon goes out and the USCM eventually show up. uscm and clf fight
3) at some point a clf* whoopsied and activated the bio-weapon (stepped into a xeno egg and had a larva burst from them). New born xeno imprinted and obeys clf faction along with all other zeta xenos.
4) zeta xenos join the clf fighting the uscm.
5) UPP scouts land on the colony to find out what the distress beacon was about/attempt to loot.

6) Beta xeno is born and escapes CLF held location without interaction with clf. runs into upp and is murdered. UPP discover bioweapon and report to upp high command that uscm has violated the peace accord keeping the cold war from going hot.
7) uscm commander realizes the upp are aware of the bio-weapon and preemptively reaches out to upp high command to resolve situation peacefully. upp in an effort to maintain peace agrees to send a representative.
8) upp and uscm come to agreement that the bioweapon is the product of clf terrorist group and that once they have been removed from the colony both the upp and uscm will jointly take possession of bioweapon to ensure balance of power and peace remains intact.
9) welyand receives report from CL that their creation of the xenomorph bioweapon has been discovered and that evidence likely exists on the colony that they are at fault - WY sends large force of pmc's to eliminate xeno bioweapon and any forces that attempt to preserve the xenos.
10) clf forces succumb to combined effort of upp/uscm/pressure from pmcs. majority of xenos from zeta hive are eliminated. Alpha xenos born of marine escapes compound and attempts to establish it's own hive; encounters monkey and becomes feral without human imprint. uscm manages to steal eta xeno eggs without upp/pmc knowledge.

11) uscm commander plots to backstab both upp and pmcs. marines/upp discover alpha xeno hive. uscm begins growing their own zeta hive on the almayer.
12) alpha hive eliminated. USCM commander gives the order and hostilities break out between uscm and upp.
13) upp forces secure lambda but take heavy casualties. *CLF launches last ditch effort to escape from colony with xeno bioweapon and attempt to board almayer.*
14) pmcs discover zeta xenos on almayer, hostilities break out between pmcs and uscm.
15) report to weyland arrives stating that they've been made.
16) weyland deploys death squad to forcibly set off almayer sd. USCM commander manages to get aboard and evacuate in escape pod before system is disabled by deathsquad.
17) upp HC get report from colony surface that they've been betrayed by uscm, forces are deployed in attempt to take almayer.
18) weyland death squad successfully sets of self destruct.

/endround.

Well run event overall.

I think things got a little chaotic and hectic after the CLF and Xenos came onto the Almayer, and it led to a little less immersion, however, it was a really well done event.

I was the CMP, I thoroughly enjoyed calling the CO backstabbing the UPP. He had me gear up my MP's to detain the UPP team onboard the Almayer, and just as we were about to initiate it, the CLF and Xeno's show up.

In the mix of this, Charlie squad and the rest of the marines brutally attack and mortally wound CPL Reinhard Shriver. He manages to escape with a single UPP soldier on a stretcher to friendly UPP lines. While attempting to keep himself and his new allies alive, he notices a PMC sniper lining up a shot on the UPP medic, and heroically steps into the line of fire. The UPP attempt to revive him but are driven back by USCM forces who leave CPL Shriver's body to rot.

The PMC's knew both the USCM and UPP had stolen eggs. Or atleast a couple of us did. The rest of the PMC's were being to dumb and forgot their objectives, scattered the fuck out, and got eliminated before we could do anything. I screamed about the other factions taking eggs several times on PMC comms but no one ever listens to me :(.

It was a really fun event up until poor Lyla got buckshot ff'd, preventing her from killing the flanking CLF scum. STILL SALTY YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

That dirty CO betrayed us and started a hot war between UPP and USCM.

The UPP Admiral survived though as well so yeah, probably not gonna go well in the grand scheme of things.

From my side of the story, CLF was shooting, my character got injured, had to do surgery and got locked inside a cryopod( due to SSD) with no chance to escape. The end

Don't forget when the W-Y Deathsquad went murderboning, killed the CL, and subsequently got gibbed. God bless the USCM.

I was ER-BETA that that round I had a good time, minus being swamped with wounded CLF members but, it still provided some decent role-play out it.

I was on that round and enjoyed it a lot, but it was a bit too long.

See, the best events run on a crescendo of tension until a big clash occurs. If you go too long past that you'll have less than one quarter of the players actually playing, while the rest just observes.

The moment you've killed a good share of the non-combatant forces is when you have to wrap it up, in my opinion.

All in all it was very good. High quality, my comment is not in the sense of diminishing its value, but add for a future one.

The lambda lab fight was going to be the end of the round; but marines rushed in there and murdered the poor alpha queen before i could make sure they would have a fight of it.

So you got a shuttle full of CLF and corrupted xenos headed to the Almayer followed by self destruct being forced by a death-platoon instead.

Ahhh, makes sense. I did find it odd how easy we killed that Alpha hive. I guess no matter how much you plan an event things get out of control and you have to implement plans B, C and D...

I had an amazing plan to bring lasting peace between the UPP and USCM.

I was going to deploy groundside and make an amazing bar with infinite vokda and other boozes. But the CO was to iffy on whether or not he was going to backstab one side, both sides, all the sides?

That plan got scrapped once the CLF got on the ship and i got gunned down when I accidentally hit my rest macro.

I was the CL and me and the PMCs plotted to attack the UPP in order to get the USCM to believe that the UPP is hostile and that they attacked the PMCs. Which more or less was succesful. We tried to shift the blame of the bioweapons on the CLF/UPP instead of WY. We then tried to 'steal' the eggs from each other faction and sotred them in my office, we also tried to kill the UPP Admiral before killing the last xenos on the Almayer. Then I got killed by deathsquad, which wasn't so nice, but eh. The Event was a great USCM vs CLF vs UPP vs PMC(WY) vs DS (WY?) crossover
