LV-2843-B was a jungle world, it's surface being covered almost completely in dense jungles, occasionally interrupted by clearings and monumental ruins of times long past. It was in one of these ruins, a pyramid to be exact, that a Xenomorph queen had created a hive, undisturbed for decades. The adaptation these xenomorphs have gained from the local fauna made them particularily tough foes, having incredible speed and a resilient hide. Their claws could easily pierce through human armor. It was here that countless young bloods sought to claim their first R'ka trophy. And it was also here, that countless of them have lost their lives. It would have been another standard hunt, if it weren't for the conestoga-class transports in orbit around the planet. Of course, the sleek yautja ship was cloaked, and unable to be detected by them. A smaller transfer craft launched, in in multiple young bloods. This would be their final trial. To reach the rank of blooded, and thus recieve all the priviliges associated with the rank, they only had to claim a serpent. This however was easier said than done, and it was common for young bloods to die during this last trial.
The three young bloods sat across from eachother, in a row of five large seats. Among them was Ko'naya Sato'ja, a young blood who had made quite a reputation for herself as a calm individual, preferring to plan ahead and lure her prey into traps before revealing herslef. This trial was not her first hunt, as she had previously hunted the soft-meat twice. During her second hunt, she also proved herself to enjoy playing mind games with her prey, using the dead bodies of those who had fallen victim to her as a way of scaring the remaining prey. As their numbers diminished, they found themselves being stalked through bloodier hunting grounds before finally meeting their end.
Still, Ko'naya had to hunt the hard meat in order to become a blooded hunter. While some of the other young bloods saw this as an easy task, she despised their arrogance. The single biggest weakness of a hunter was arrogance. Underestimating their prey could be the last mistake these fools made, or so she thought.
Only the faint hum of the engines could be heard as the transfer craft descended smoothly through the atmosphere. Although all of the young bloods, including Ko'naya, were excited to finally defeat a serpent, they remained silent, trying to appear calm. It was Ko'naya who broke the silence, reciting a prayer to Paya.
The craft slowed down, and started hovering in place roughly twenty feet above a small clearing in the jungle. A small hatch in the floor opened, and the yautja lept down, onto the planet. As soon as the last one of them had left the craft, it began to soar away, quickly returning to the orbiting ship.
From here, they were on their own. With the two other yautja heading south- and northeast respectively, Ko'naya started running west. As the overgrowth began to grow thicker, she climbed a tree, so as not to give herself away while moving. She lept from branch to branch, zipping through the trees for two hours, before reaching the edge of a clearing, where she detected multiple tracks, both of the R'ka and the soft meat, some of them recent. It appeared that they passed this location frequently, and the clearing would give her space to fight the serpent while being aware of any threats. Thus, Ko'naya decided to wait there.
Perched on that tree, Ko'naya observed the clearing, her thoughts beginning to race. This was the day that the young blood had been training for. Her entire life, she had been looking forward to the hunt, training for it both mentally and physically, studying various combat techniques and the mannerisms of her prey, both R'ka and Oomans. She reflected on her training, the pain which she had endured, and dthe other un-blooded during training, some of which had perished. The mere thought of sharing a clan with such unworthy yautja sent her into a rage, but knowing that any amount of noise could alert her prey, she kept silent.
Waiting on the branch for roughly an hour, Ko'naya's patience paid off.
As she heard a group of Oomans approaching, she turned her cloak on, watching intently. A distant, echoing roar broke through the hot and humid air, signaling the arrival of R'ka. Ko'naya watched the Oomans intently, recording their speech with her Bio-mask. She'd use the recordings later, if any of the Oomans survived their encounter with the source of the roar, which she identified as two serpents.
"Sir, did you hear that?! WHAT THE FUCK was that sound?!" one of the humans shouted, obviously panicking. This one wouldn't survive the confrontation. She was sure of that. "Keep your fucking voice down if you don't want to find out, Jackson," another one hissed. She gazed over to what appeared to be the leader of the group, as he motioned for his squad. "Keep together and watch the trees" the human let out in a hushed voice. Another roar emanated from across the clearing, two R'ka leaping out of the thick green foliage. "CONTACT!" screamed one of the humans, as gunshots rang through the air. The serpents dashed into the middle of the loose formation, causing multiple humans to be wounded by friendly fire. The wounded were immediately attacked by the serpents, standing no chance. One serpent pinned down one a human, as he cried desperately for
help. Bullets riddled the xenomorph pinning him down, horrific screams filling the air as the creature's acidic blood made contact with his body. The remaining serpent attacked, charging at the four remaining humans. It lept at one of them, slicing the human's throat with it's claws, while using it's sharp tail to violently impale another. The two remaining humans began running, but the R'ka was faster. Being a merciless creature by nature, it killed both of them.
Ko'naya roared, uncloaking as she jumped from her branch. This was her opportunity to claim an R'ka trophy, to prove herself worthy and become a blooded hunter. The xenomorph immediately span around, racing twoards her on all fours. As the creature slammed into her, Ko'naya was thrown off her feet. She rolled to the side, quickly recovering and extending her wrist blades. The serpent roared at her, continuing it's unrelenting attack. While she parried it's claws, the serpent struck her arm with the tip of it's tail, leaving a long and deep gash. Green luminescent blood spilled out, covering the serpent's tail. Roaring in pain, Ko'naya slashed at the tail, cutting part of it off. In response, the xenomorph once again lunged forward, savagely slashing at Ko'naya. Unfortunately for it, Ko'naya thrust her wrist bldaes forwards, impaling the serpent, stopping it dead in it's tracks.
Picking up the freshly-killed creature, Ko'naya tore it's head and part of it's spinal cord off, roaring in satisfaction. She then knelt down, marking her face-mask with the acidic blood of the killed R'ka After that, she proceeded to mark her forehead with the corrosive substance. The pain was intense, but the thought of becoming a blooded hunter was enough to let her endure it. After completing this ritual, she deplyoed her Medicomp, preparing a gel from the components included inside, and applied it to the wound on her arm, roaring in pain as she cauterized it. The serpent had wounded her, but the injuries, while appearing to be serious, were quickly healed by whatever substance she had applied. With one final roar, she headed off into the jungle. The hunt was over.
Ko'naya had finally completed her trials, an killed a serpent. Finally, her clan would accept her as a blooded warrior.
There was no doubt that future hunts would bring her even more glory, but for now she made her way back to the ship, having a trophy to boast about. She thanked Paya for the successful hunt, eager for a new challenge.
How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator)?
I intend to play as more of a stalker, observing battles and then stalking those who I have chosen as my prey for a while, eventually chasing/baiting them away from their squads and into areas filled with traps. I intend to RP with my prey whenever possible, and seek to provide them with an entertaining experience. I do realize that some players might get angry over being removed from play regardless, however I will try to make the experience fun for them instead of just silently murdering them. I would also try roleplaying with xenomorphs whenever possible, although I realize how limited interactions with them usually are. As I kill more and more prey, I would decorate the hunting ground with their bodies.
My interactions with marines would also encompass honor duels, although these would be rare, and never initiated by the marine. Prey do not get to choose their fights.
Ultimately, my goal is not to change the outcome of the round or ruin the game for others, but to add a new source of conflict to the round, and provide players on both sides with memorable experiences. The focus of a predator round, for me, would not be racking up the most kills, but creating conflict, adding a small twist to the usual marines VS xenos gameplay.
I also aim to roleplay with other predators, should they appear in the round. In fact, they are most likely going to be the ones that will get to roleplay with me the most, simply because of how marines and xenos often offer no chance for roleplay, swarming predators, or ignoring them. As my story might have already let you guess, Ko'naya would be slightly arrogant, boasting about her achievements. She would hunt alone most of the time, slightly reluctant to team up with another hunter. Of course, this would still be possible although it would be rare.
Many predators deviate from their mentioned playstyle on occasions, but while certain circumstances may force me to adapt, I would try to stick to what I have mentioned above as much as I can.
Why should we whitelist you?
Having played since pre-alpha, and since summer 2017 on a more regular basis, I have interacted with predators many times. Some of my most memorable moments on the server stem from interactions with predators. I intend to make the round more interesting through both RP and killing. While this might make the round more interesting for others, I am aware that sometimes players will get upset at me for removing them from play, and I can understand that. Remaining calm in OOC and deadchat even when players might be salty isn't an issue for me. I believe that I am capable of following the rules and the honor code. I believe that as a predator, each kill should create RP or be done in self-defense. Killing just for the sake of killing does not create any enjoyment. If a marine is killed wordlessly and is dragged off to a corner of the map, before being turned into a trophy, it might have been a succesful hunt for the predator, but overall creates no opportunities for RP. As a predator, I would seek to create RP with each of my kills, as far as possible. There are some obvious exceptions, like a lodge defence or SDing, but overall I would try to keep my bodycount reasonably low.
