Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
I am very aware of this. It's a privilege that many people don't get, and all the whitelist roles are very important with the progressions and outcomes of rounds. If one abuses this or doesn't take it seriously, they shouldn't have it, simple as that.
Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
Indeed. Battlefield Executions are used for situations in which a Commander believes that someone apart of the Almayer is a risk to the operation at hand. This leaves that person out of the round marine-wise upon execution and depending on their role can really do damage on the Marines themselves. Of course, upon doing this the Commander must announce it and explain why it was carried out. I hope most issues that happen ship-side don't have to be resolved with this, and I plan to only use it when I deem it appropriate after having all necessary evidence and understanding of the offender and situation. I say this because I have witnessed several BEs in the past in which the Commander did not fully understand what had been going on to lead to a specific situation that had occurred, or simply overreacted to something quite small, leading to the death of someone who may have not done much bad in the first place. I can list a specific situation if necessary, as something like this happened roughly a week ago.
Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Of course. The CMP and their MPs are the ones who carry out Marine Law aboard the ship. Even though I am the Commander leading the ship and it's men, I still must follow Marine Law, as by breaking it in various ways can jeopardize the operation going on. If there is a crime, I can question it, learn about it, but at the end of the day it is the CMP and MPs job to carry out the justice, not mine. Unless of course I want myself getting in trouble, which would be bad.
What do you think is the job of a Commander?
Well, obviously it is to provide the main leading role to everyone aboard the Almayer, whether they are a Standard Marine, Cargo Technician, or a Staff Officer. The Commander helps devise a plan that they and the rest of the command staff believe to be effective in helping in the operation at hand, along with leading said command staff to properly order and take care of their assigned troops. The Commander also makes sure everything is going steady on the ship, as various things can happen such as the ship's generators going out, intruders boarding the Almayer, or simply people not doing their job. Also, as the Commander you help in some way to add more RP to a single situation or a whole round, whether it's a normal round of LV, or a special event. Your decisions and behavior ultimately effects everyone else and decides the outcome of the operation, making rounds either bland or interesting. Regardless of how good or bad a situation is going, they must continue to motivate their troops and keep them together till the end.
If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
Well, first off, I need to figure out the overall issue with this staff member. I'd probably ask if I had done anything to encourage them to disobey orders, as perhaps I said something or did something that led to this. Even as a Commander, you're not perfect, and won't always be agreed with.
If the situation isn't horrible, I'd let them off with a warning, and ask them to focus and help with the operation, in which later we can attempt to settle any general issues that had come up. Now, if the situation was bad- and our forces were struggling with this member being incompetent and disobeying orders, that's when I'd take more action, and the person better have a pretty good and valid reason to be doing so. I would most likely suggest the member for some Brig time, not only as punishment, but to also have them think about how their decision is shaping the outcome of the operation. However, if it's seriously bad- or you've really messed up to where many have died or we've borderline failed the operation- that's when I'd possibly believe either major Brig time or a Battle Execution would be deemed necessary.
Why should you be whitelisted?
I've been playing Colonial Marines for a little over a year now, shockingly enough. It's been a hell of a ride, and I've been trying to sink into various important roles such as CT, Spec, a tiny bit of Smartgunner, and XO, though a majority of my time lately has been as a Standard Marine in Charlie, which is where most of my heavy RP comes from when playing. Though I haven't played a considerable ton of XO or Squad Lead in the past few days, I believe I've had enough experience to finally step up and be a much bigger role than I've ever been yet. I try to really express my character Stiggs, and try to make all situations fun as I can to the people around me with RP- so doing this for the entirety of the Marines and others in the round would be a great thing to do. When it comes to plans, I'm willing to at times go out of the box to change up the round- even if it may result in an unfortunate Xeno major. I may not be incredibly well known, which may quite possibly be my downfall with this application, but I believe I possess the needed leadership, knowledge, and overall responsibility for the Commander role, and hope you all agree. Thank you.

Fair warning, it is fairly late where I am- so I must be heading for bed. I can try to answer any concerns or replies later in the morning, or during my lunchtime. My apologies if you do not get an immediate response.

I'll sit as neutral for now. Haven't seen too much of your in the CIC personally. But I will keep an eye out for your XO. SO rounds to get a feel on your style.
Other than that I can say I've seen Stiggs around and can only recall good interactions with you so that's a bonus. Plus you picked the best squad so double bonus for you.

Good to know at least that you've at least had good interactions with me! I'll definitely be playing much more XO and SL the next few days- thanks for the feedback!x31stOverlord wrote: ↑03 May 2018, 04:31I'll sit as neutral for now. I wouldn't respond so rapidly to +1s or -1s, it clutters the page. But anyways, here's what I think.
You've been my XO twice. You were very competent both times. You are good on comms, have a solid understanding of the battlefield, and can function independently. You could have been slightly more proactive.
As a player you are reasonable. I'm happy with that.
I can definitely give a +1. CO apps aren't meant to be too tough anyways.

Re: Jackson 'Stiggs' Hopper - Commander Application
Okay, so my opinion is incredibly biased because we are both Charlie mains and play quite a bit together, having a close IC bond.
That said, you've recently taken to play command and one round that I was SL we had unusually high intel of what was going on around, with you as XO. You were stellar then, great communication skills making the life of us SLs so much easier and the squads so much more effective. You probably had good SOs as well.
In the other rounds you've been command you've been good and I've heard nothing bad about you in that position yet.
You also take very well the mantle of aSL whenever is needed, and are a great soldier to command, always reliable and able to lead FTs.
I'll +1, but take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm far from impartial here.

Slightly more proactive, got it. I'll make sure to note that when playing XO. I'll try to be more towards taking action rather than waiting for a situation to fall into my hands. I appreciate the feedback, and I'm happy to know that to you and other players that I seem reasonable enough to take the role!edda wrote: ↑03 May 2018, 06:46I wouldn't respond so rapidly to +1s or -1s, it clutters the page. Re: Jackson 'Stiggs' Hopper - Commander Application
Quick question, was this round you're talking about when I was constantly announcing enemy positions by chance? If so, I can gladly explain this, as it was one of the two recent rounds I played as XO. The Commander had decided to head planetside, as the Runner on the ship had finally been eliminated, and he told me to be ready to start calling out enemy locations wherever he or anyone else saw. Most of the call-outs came from the Commander, which I sent through via announcements, but several were from other SLs. It really helped that our squads were spread out, not SUPER spread out, but enough to where we could cover the colony fairly quickly to where we could keep relocating the Queen and the last few xenos.IMVader wrote: ↑03 May 2018, 07:47Okay, so my opinion is incredibly biased because we are both Charlie mains and play quite a bit together, having a close IC bond.

Anyways, thank you for believing in me, and also a big thanks for being a cool Charlie marine to play with! (Even if you slightly bully me with my last name at times..)

Yeah, I've never had the best luck when it comes to keeping my arms... I do try to RP to the best of my ability, even when playing as less important or RP-heavy roles simply to improve the experience for me and others interacting with me. Re: Jackson 'Stiggs' Hopper - Commander Application
Yep, that was exactly the round. The circumstances favored you, but I feel you did very well there. While each overwatch is a link between the squad and what's going on with the rest of the operation, the best XOs and COs are a link to the global panorama. If they are fast in relaying information like you were we become much more effective. I've seen countless of times command ordering retreats from positions already overrun, or being completely unaware of what's going on, even from whitelisted commanders.AmazinglyAmazing wrote: ↑03 May 2018, 16:40Quick question, was this round you're talking about when I was constantly announcing enemy positions by chance? Was my XO today and before, I was handling alot of the minor stuff today while he did all of the major work.
Clearly he can run an op as an XO, So its quite obvious what my choice is here.

Neutral, leaning to +1 due to the effort placed in the application.
I'd like to see you more as SO and XO, in the days to come because in all honesty, I can't remember you being either once.

You were my SO yesterday, and you did not do too bad, like a normal SO, and you did put quite a bit of effort into this app. Neutral leaning heavily on +1.

Re: Jackson 'Stiggs' Hopper - Commander Application
I've seen Stiggs a lot in Charlie and I've always enjoyed riling him up for his ghost hunts. While I haven't seen him personally in too many command roles the guy sticks to character and RP's well. He's a pleasure to serve with and can turn an otherwise stressful round into something fun and engaging. He gets my +1.

Good to know I'm doing something right! Like I've said- I plan to play Command a bit more often which has included today so far, and hopefully tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback!Lyiat wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 11:12I've seen Stiggs a lot in Charlie and I've always enjoyed riling him up for his ghost hunts. I've seen you in the XO role plenty. You seem to have a good grasp of commanding, running the CiC. You also seem to have a knack for running the show while lacking SO's.

I'd like to update my statement - I've now seen Stiggs as XO several times since my original post and he does a good job. Even while I was yelling at him to order an evac.

Re: Jackson 'Stiggs' Hopper - Commander Application
Very good RP in charlie squad and highly competent when I've seen him as XO, even with horrible meme command all around him. My one bit of constructive criticism would be maybe go a little lighter on the "I messed up and this is my fault" because it very rarely is, but that's super minor.
Easy +1 from me for what that's worth!
