Death From Above - Introduction

Post by Karmac » 07 May 2018, 06:41

As his subordinate officers tapped away at their over-watch consoles and kept in radio contact with the various squads under their care, Commander Heinz Meuller sighed to himself, surely Admiral Gibbs knew he had been joking at the time, surely he hadn't taken his suggestion seriously.
Yet here he was; re-reading the details he had been given in regards to the founding of a new type of infantry platoon. The exact details were of little concern to him, it was what the Admiral had attached to the report that concerned him;

I'll keep this brief Commander, I know I may seem hasty in my decision to take your idea to heart, but after taking into consideration the rising number of pro-CLF colonies I had no choice other than to revise our current tactics and you provided me with the perfect stratagem.
I fully expect you to cooperate with the Wey-Yu techies and mad scientist types in order to make this work, after all, the sooner we quell this little 'insurrection' of sorts, the sooner the United Americas will realise we're the only method of defence the human race can truly rely on.
I don't know if you've noticed but mercenary companies have been steadily growing in size, and we've been receiving less and less distress calls from some of the less-desirable colonies. We can't afford to be outdone by some psycho gun-runners, so show everyone why our men are
proud to call themselves Ultimate Bad-asses,
Signed - Admiral Jethro Gibbs.

"Alright, how's the platoon doing Elizabeth?" Meuller quizzically asked the SO,
"It'll be another day before they're done shifting out of current platoons and a proper chain of command is sorted out, basic training can begin after that, Wey-Yu's really holding up their end of this; all the necessary prototypes have been produced,
they reckon the stuff's safe for a combat drop but we'll see soon enough if it's the real deal" Elizabeth replied, sounding none too amused by the matter;
it was something to be expected, after all Heinz had put her in charge of all the busywork required to get the platoon into working order ASAP,
which was no small task according to the stacks of paper taking up her desk-space,
"Good, send me a report on the structure of it before they start basic, I may need to change some of the placements, these are our trouble-makers after all"
Heinz was equally un-enthusiastic about his situation, the Admiral had high hopes for him, but all he could spare
for this project were the absolute lowest-of-the-low amongst his men, after all, he wasn't going to waste good soldiers on something as dangerous and experimental as this.

It's been a while since I've done any writing and after skimming through my notes I was reminded of the time I received a job ban for 'joining the experimental paratrooper corps after being told not to by admins' I took a bit of inspiration and thought I might do something,
this is probably gonna be slow-going though because I'm good at wasting my time doing pointless shit.

I'm currently sorting out my Meido RPG campaign so this is on the backburner but it's still happening.
