Any way to get promoted to acting RO?

Sometimes I see rounds that don't have cargo techs or ROs, so I join as a cargo tech in case someone more qualified wants to join as a RO. However, sometimes I also end up being the only cargo around. So I wonder - is there some way to get promoted to acting RO during the game to get access to the stamps and what not without having to break down the windows / doors, etc?

Acting roles and promotions to an acting role like that are always handled by CIC. If there is no RO, and there needs to be an aRO, make a message out in the Almayer radio so they know what's going on, or ask someone with command radio access to let the CIC staff know.

I had a particularly memorable round as an MP where I noticed req was empty so I volunteered for RO. The XO changed my ID and I was set. I would recommend asking the XO since the CO will probably be busy doing command announcements.

I'm pretty sure there was a rule you couldn't do something... but that was awhile ago. Making an aRO until an RO does get on should be fine.
