What happens to your character lorewise?

Post by Weaselburg » 17 May 2018, 23:57

Right, so I am confused on whether most peoples characters survive lorewise after the aliens (Who I KNOW take the ship, storyline wise) take the ship? Do they escaped on a drop pod? Die? Hide in a locker for 7 years? Do they escape to the planet only to have Bill Carsons endless attempts to reproduce with you untill the paralysed CMP comes on a cargo tug and pepper sprays them? Post it here!

And a question, what happens if you are in cryosleep(As in it stored you into the bowls of the ship) when the ayys take over?

I will start with my characters escape in a pod or onto the planet. This is lorewise for my chars and gameplay wise. (I almost ALWAYS make it out.)

I don't think this is true, hasn't Hive Alpha been taking W-Y colonies for a while? Not to mention, W-Y developed apesuits literally to deal with benos. All this being the case, it's unlikely that it's even the USCM's first encounter.

It's probably something more like: You average, run-of-the-mill USCM patrol group runs into the universe's best kept secret.

Usually died like a lot of people so... Yeah. But I'd prefer my character died a hero beside his buddies.

But if he survived somehow. Welp. He'd eventually quit and retire soon because aylium PTSD. He'd likely be afraid of W-Y's doings and hate them a bit more due of him finding little evidence about WY in the planetsite while fighting ayys along Almayer. And lastly he'd even given up being local hunter back home planet as his fear of wildlife predators arise. And probably start fishing instead.

(CMP hmmm sounds familiar)
I would like to think that he either died protecting the people he cares about or running away to fight again if the people he cares about aren't around that game, so he just goes groundside and scavenges until help arrives, then he tells them to blow the hell out of the Alaymer and leave and never return

It heavily depends on the outcome of the round.

William Crimson as SL would likely either:

Marine Win - Squad Intact - Remain in the marines for a number of years, returning to officer academy and working his way to Commander - Becomes a firm, straight edge commander but not unfair.

Marine Win - Squad Lost -
Immediately request a transfer to Officers Academy, works his way up to Commander exceedingly fast - Becomes a cut-throat, machiavellian Commander who is detached from the lives of his marines.

Marine Loss - Squad Intact - After escaping with the majority of the squad, he would brief high command on the threat, if High Command chose to bury it, he'd likely resign or go AWOL with any of his men willing to follow him and set up Crimsons Crusaders. If HC managed to convince him to stay, he'd remain a career NCO.

Marine Loss - Squad Lost -
After losing the majority of his squad and escaping on a pod, he would likely resign his post, be discharged or go AWOL, after this, he would set up a freelancer group known as "Crimsons Crusaders" and recruit any Three World Empire loyalists, before they would roam around the sector, combatting pirates, slavers and other unsavoury groups which threaten the colonies, eventually setting up their own orbital station.

If I am correct, we probably had a thread similar to this where we asked the question "What happened to our marines after the battle?"

Honestly, I doubt Weenie would have a good time afterwards.

At best, he'd resume business as usual after the battle of [map name here] and survive more brutal engagements against pirates, CLF, and maybe even UPP if shit hit the fan, his military career rolling along until he is soon too old to serve and leaves behind the USCM to work in some dead-end job somewhere (probably as a janitor), rambling on about his military adventures to anyone willing to listen to his nonsense about "fighting giant hellbeast" that one time many years ago, going so far as to brag a tad about his achievements, no matter how small they might really be. In the long run, his military career might be the highlight of his rather humble life, at least as long as he can forget the nightmares of past horrors and watching what few friends he had die throughout his time in service.

That is, of course, he even survives in the first place.
Sometimes, bravery comes from the most unlikely sources.

Lorewise almayer goes silent too (surely because the xenos board it) so yes everyone could be dead except for a few civilians that escape in the pods.

John Vex would die on the ship, or for the small chance he ever escaped would retire and probably open a barbershop for retired marines or marines in general.
Eirik Almstedt would escape when he saw there was no hope left, and continue as a solider until death.
Hunter Dryden would die by accident, no other possible futures. (Probably by not reading the instructions for safe cryo use)

If my guy somehow survived the Almayer's first encounter, he'd probably continue serving until his inevitable death at the hands of UPP scum or being humiliated by CLF nerds.
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Given in-game trends Kestrel would almost certainly die trying to save someone who got dragged off by xenos on the ground.

Percy, depending on the circumstances leading up to the finale, would either go down with the ship if unable to purge the xenos, or escape and go AWOL, going freelance while impressing nobody everyone with his revolver tricks.
