Your appeal, including evidence (screenshots, etc): I would like to continue using the name James Booker, as I've been using the name for sometime now, trying to build a good repute within the community, and having to change the name effectively flushes all of that down the drain. Kerek alerted me to someone ahelping about the name, because it belongs to some obscure jazz artist. I mean, honestly, it's not exactly a unique name, in-fact I decided the name because it was indeed generic, trying to avoid snowflakeism and what have you. However, fame is relative, it might be obscure to me, but hell, there might be some dude out there listening to James Booker all day, sent into a state of mild rustling because he saw the name in a 2d spehssmen game. Fame is relative, which is funny, because the name of Kerek's character, Ryan Steelburg, is also famous, he's the CEO of several multinational corporations, and would also probably be famous to those that it mattered with. Kerek has yet to provide evidence of the ahelp, which I'd appreciate if he would. It's not the end of the world if I have to change the name, but y'know, it just sucks, and seems unnecessary.

I have been roleplaying with the character James Booker for some time, and I think it would be a shame if Guts would have to cut out all of that for the sake of the name change.

I believe this is quite a positive appeal, and should be taken up, especially since the subject known as "James Booker" is so obscure, that they should not be considered a famous individual due to his frivolously minimal level of notoriety.

There's someone out there who could log onto SS13 and gripe about Kerek's name, thus making it offensable. I'd also like to note the rather blasé attitude with which this issue was addressed in the discord
Regardless of whether or not the logs have to be supplied, the attitude was not particularly helpful or professional.

Anyway, I'm not gonna make this about Kerek, bc he's just a good mod trying to do his job (although the hypocrisy is honestly laughable). Like who actually has that much beef over a generic-ass name as "James Booker."

We police the server: we see infraction - we apply punishment. Now it is up to Admin+ staff to make rule 0 exception for you.

Point is, if you don't invocate the character in appearance and/or manners (backstory) then in cases of more obscure RL people an exception can be made. IF heads will decide to make an exception for that name, most likely they will be checking this to make ruling.

The rules specificly state that if you disagree you make a post on the forums so I consider this valid enough.
I myself have no issue with the name and think most people on the server do not.

Alrighty, thank you for the input. I understand then in that case, and I trust you guys that the ahelp actually exists, it was just my salt from last night demanding to actually have proof of it.

Right, I've never heard of James Booker outside of what I just looked up and I asked some other people and no one else really knows the guy off the top of their head. Unless we get a lot of complaints about the name, you're fine to use it assuming your IC character is not based off the how the guy was in real life. Resolved - James Booker is a fair name to use as long as it doesn't pull lots of complaints.
