Quick Warning of an Non specified rule (Survivor)
Well, today i was mostly wishing to get Doctor Role with survivor Preferences ON (Wish I hadn't them activated) and then I got the Role I wasn't expecting for but was good enough. After starting at the Engineering zone, I decided to run into the Canteen (Ice Colony by the way) to get some guns and fortify somewhere else that could be a Good Spot.
After getting lost and mostly just found a shotgun, I ran into a Fawrara (Or Yiren, not quite sure of these) and i thought: Actually if all Survivors are aware of the Xenomorph Cycle of live, why I don't actually kill a possible host that could make the Aliens more powerfull than fighting them without any chance ? Then I took a few shoots to the Yiren, killing it and thinking that it could be allowed due the RP Knowledge that is given to survivors, then I got PMed by a Mod asking me if i actually killed some Mobs, it seems that Killing possible hosts at the round start isn't allowed but it isn't specified on the General Rules as well. Then after talking with a few mods about this Issue i decided to create this quick post.
This is a Quick warning to anyone that could possibly make this mistake as well an advert for Managers or similar to take care of this possible rule with isn't specified and add it on the General Rules so no one else makes this mistake by accident, that would be all I got to say.
PS: Warriors are great at screwing talks with moderators at certain moments.

As a survivor you should also be worried that gunfire could alert the Xenos to your location.

Yeah but most of the times, you're going to get killed so anything you can do for the rest of the players of the round could be usefull (Writing a Note about the Xenomorph Threat/Infection/ALIENS USING VENTS and such.)

Seems reasonable. You know about infection and xenomorphs. No reason you shouldn't be able to kill mobs.

It may seem but it is classified as Powergaming still, could be valid as a Marine and such but a survivor would have all the rights to do so. Even that could change the way like the xenos start the round, instead of running and killing the survivors they would get to worry about grabing all mobs and then fight the survivor.

Hey there. So as a survivor you can use any information you can come up with, to a reasonable degree. Hell, if you are dressed as some planetary CL or researcher I'll be completely fine with you knowing names and roles of every xenomorph.
That being said, aliens, especially if you know something about their process, steal part of DNA to go thru the process. Now, even W-Y, masters of Xenomorph science, use more expensive and risky human test subjects to hatch project X (see Prison Station). Hunting "small hosts" for aliens is a last resort effort in strengthening their hive and this behavior was never recorded since, you know, there are humans to use.
Nowhere in lore and extended lore I found them using small creatures to hatch, so assume you don't know it.
I mean the ONLY living things that left were those smallhosts. While humans we're collected already for a long long time. Why you think they were left living by aliens until the very last moment?

Yeah I see, pretty reasonable but then why we got mobs instead of unconscious humans? If the staff managed to add animals on it why not SSD humans ? (At least in prision station) Probably due the complicated way of creating a code for it in ss13 ?NethIafins wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 03:13Hey there. Re: Quick Warning of an Non specified rule (Survivor)
This has been ruled on in the past if I remember correctly and while roaming across the map murderboning all of the monkies as fast as you can find them was frowned upon, capturing a few and using them as hostages or pets has been done before.
Also, this was directly addressed in the rules at one point, but only for marines killing wildlife afaik. Apophis since rewritten most of them and probably cut it as an example of metagaming. Which is where the confusion about the admin/moderator that was PMing you believing it to be mentioned in the general rules came from.

Thanks Bronomin for saying I am doing my job mediocrely.Bronimin wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 04:35This has been ruled on in the past if I remember correctly and while roaming across the map murderboning all of the monkies as fast as you can find them was frowned upon, capturing a few and using them as hostages or pets has been done before.

The player was specificly told in this case it was not in the rules but still considered against the rules. Part of the general metagaming rule.
Marines killing monkeys would still be listed under metagaming when I asked a manager they said so. Survivors is more iffy but in this case:
I was specificly intstructed to pm the player about this. So there was no mistake doing this is against the rules. And if mods see it they should pm you if they do their job correctly.

Re: Quick Warning of an Non specified rule (Survivor)
because they have to behave like survivors. They have to run around, trying to save themselves, so either complicated AI behavior or players.
What I would advocate is to make aliens spawn from monkeys with some defect or do that slower to reflect lore a bit more.

Nah you we're doing your job and duty correctly so dont worry, shame that the specific rule wasn't on the General Rules though.awan wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 06:39Thanks Bronomin for saying I am doing my job mediocrely.
