Are disposal units broken or someting?

Post by Evan Stelf » 12 Jun 2018, 00:35

Today I was playing as survivor and since defenders are still t1s I knew I wouldn't have good odds with surviving as survivor if I walked around the colony. I decided to hide in a disposal unit because that's always a good way to live for a little bit till marines land and the pressure is lessened on "GOTTA GET THOSE TALLHOSTS". So I went into the disposal unit, after TURNING OFF the pump, and it still sent me through disposals critting me. It also happened again when I was being harassed by a defender and my injured other colonist that I somehow hit with a slug that I wasn't even aiming at told me to put him in disposals, I turned off the pump again and it still sent him through disposals killing him. Is something wrong with the disposal units or am I doing something wrong? This was on ice colony by the way

The situation that happened was intentional for good or ill.
Coders changed disposal units to make them send folks down disposals quite awhile ago, even if depowered, even if pressure is empty, etc to prevent folks hiding in them. Didn't put it on the changelog for some reason though.
And given they arn't commonly used these days, not too well known unfortunately.

Damn, that's a real shame. Even less chance of survivors actually surviving, good to know though. Thanks

I agree. Does suck quite a bit, since a disposal is actually a logical place for a survivor to hide.

However, let's be honest...

Did you -Really- think that you could increase Stelf on a Shelf's life expectancy? The curse is in place, friend. There is no going back.

This also happened to me once, was a doctor survivor on ice, tried to hide in the disposals same way you did with activating and turning off the pump so I don't get sent, get sent anyway. Funny part is I lived regardless, healing up my wounds best I could with a medkit I had, and somehow managed no broken bones during the ride in the tube. Was a wild experience.
