Aiming a gun at someone is tantamount to firing one practically, it can cause a firefight when a shot goes off and is pretty much the same as just shooting people at that point. I'd say that situation would justify assault but not outright shooting them.
If they actually were repeatedly saying that I think that would have been best just to be taken to ahelps as that seems more like being a dick than anything else, or the mps for being disruptive. Generally firearms are the last resort, not the first.
This is something that has just occurred as well.

Extreme though it may be seen I prefer to keep it roleplay for as long as possible before going to admins, aditfionally I am not going to get in melee range of someone with an array of sharp metal tools when I only have my fists. Especially as he may have been carrying a flash. As for aiming being basically shooting, the actions of the CE indicates he was not carrying a firearm, meaning keeping him still and at bay by aiming at him would be the best way to diffuse the situation without having to shoot him. Unfortunately he decided to try his luck.

I was the one who told them to upgrade the ban to include the jobban. Upon hearing that you resorted to using firearms and killing the CE in the process as an SO. I told him to upgrade it. SOs are held to much higher role of responsibility and when abused can and will result in harsher punishment.

Solarmare provided the reasoning why using a firearm is a terrible idea. Especially over something this trival.

I'll say this ban can stick then, this is the sort of thing you shouldn't be doing as any marine let alone command.
I don't think I should have to say that aiming a gun at someone is aiming a lethal weapon that only makes the situation worse.
If you cared about carrying out roleplay you could have sent a message or fax to high command about this behavior as well, or to the CMP.

I still think that a perm job ban for XO and SO is extreme for my first command related offence, especially when it’s borderline on allowed with rule 16’s specific of arguable RP. As for fax or CMP, fax is just rp aHelp so I’d avoid it for that incident, CMP is not likely to do anything.

However, I won’t continue to press for a lift for the time being, there is not much point arguing against it if you’ve decised to upgrade it from something simple.
