The New Ice Meta - Absolute Mutiny

Ice round. We all know what's going to happen. Beno mains vote, vets log-off.


      Rex Tex is the CO. Hilarity ensues.




Step 1: Deploy Delta to LZ1, TComms. Easy.

Step 0: Engineers are bald summer pubbies.

Step 5: Alpha and Bravo get stuck inside LZ2 because they need a power control module..... for 20 minutes.

Step 10: Delta engy gets stuck trying to figure out how to repair APC..... for 20 minutes.

Step -21: For 23 minutes CO, XO, SOs, CE, and marines complain loudly on comms about engineers. Seething rage is plentiful.

Step 78: Ambush. Half of Delta gets wiped, comms down. Charlie rescues Delta.

Step -22: Command blames Delta. Insubs all.

Step 6: 'Full' 'Retreat'.

Step -1337: All of Delta arrested by MPs, brought to brig upon landing. Every. Single. Delta.

Step 22: Alpha SL meets with Bravo SL in North Canteen. Agreement to mutiny and to 'Free Delta' from security.

Step 66: All squads ordered to CiC.

Step 100: Rex Tex surrounded by 30 marines in CiC. UNGA! Someone pulls a trigger. MPs throw pepper nades.

Step 101: Alpha 'VIVA!' mutineers fight Charlie 'loyalist' marines in CiC, hangar, medbay, and briefing with Bravo split and mostly neutral.

Step -88: Firefight breaks out on Normandy, Charlie wins, kills several Alpha.

Step +30: 90% of Command Staff murdered. Some Delta freed from sec.

Step B: CiC flip-flops between Alpha/Charlie/MPs. Alpha losing. 'Avalanche' Murray rescued, revived in CiC.

Step &#*@: Benos want in on action, crash Alamo into lower engineering.

Step DUNGA: Bean-men meet 'Battle Hardened Tank Crew' and 'Elite Loader Mechs' in rec room.

Step -990: CL faxes Wey-Yu and takes escape pod.

Step PIZZA: Death squad dispatched. Lovingly assists mutinous marines in killing benos. Kills hive. Takes no action against mutineers. Leaves.

Step -1: Marine major.

Rex Tex was actually just an LT but despite that he managed to fuck up an entire ground operation and incite a full-blown mutiny by himself. I actually joined the mutineers as an LT and let them into CIC. After I got captured by an MP and thrown in the brig I convinced a different MP that the mutineers had captured me and put me in the brig, and he believed me because I was an LT. So he just let me loose in the brig and I went and released all the captured mutineers, let them into the MP armoury, and we butchered all the MPs who came back with their own guns.

He wasn't the aCO, even, there was a CO and an XO. They were just powerless to stop Rex Tex. I felt bad, holding the CO at gunpoint in CIC, but it was the way things had to be. Rex Tex had to be stopped. It's funny that, even though they were in a firefight with the CO and the MPs the mutineers still stopped to make a triumphant announcement when someone managed to blow Tex's head off.

In essence, TL;DR : To win Ice, you must bamboozle the admins into sending a Death Squad. Goonstation-style, the retardation levels must reach critical mass. Rinse, repeat.


@ Dauntasa - I heard about that, how you got out by convincing the next MP in that it was the mutineers. Brilliant scheme, Daun.

I was the CE during this round, Vito Cordoba.

Wanted to be a surprise loyalist but when I reached CIC I didn't know who was evil and who was loyal due to a lack of communication from MPs/Command. But I can understand that, since SLs were listening to Command channel.

I ended up following Murray in maint, not sure what was his side, I opened doors for him and accidentally helped him and another marine decap Rex Texas.

CO showed up later and took control of the CIC peacefully, mutiny was over when the aliens crashed. Me, the rest of Command and the CL escaped through pods just before the Death Squid arrived. We wouldn't have escaped if the Death Squid were announced but their arrival was really a surprise.

Go Delta.

I don't remember if he gave the initial command announcement or not. The situation, though, was that Comms were down pretty much the entire time. They were down for half an hour at the start of the operation, up for a few minutes, and then TCOMMs fell and they went down again permanently. The CO and XO had no idea of what was going on on the ground beyond Rex insulting Delta and the Charlie SL screaming about how the LZ had fallen during the brief period when comms were up, even though the LZ was totally fine. Meanwhile, Rex is sitting at his OW console meticulously giving every single Delta an insub charge and berating them over squad messages.

Hi, CO here.

I must say I didn't get shot a single time, nor participated in the firefight that issued. I just sneaked my way out while MPs threw 12 tear gas nades all over CIC.

I also would like to say that I ordered the arrest of Delta squad on the ground... But Tex set everyone for arrest.

It was a fun round besides everything that happened. But next time I must BE all SLs when this happen. Or BE Tex. Works too.

Actually the CO and/or XO backed everything Tex said and did. Every little thing from his constant mocking and humiliating of Delta through OW messages instead of having another squad send an engineer to get comms up to marking every Delta, including those of us who stayed at T-comms despite his bullshit and people who woke up after the fact, wanted for insub after the Delta SL told him where he could go before storming off once the comms went up. Hell, the MPs didn't even arrest all of Delta, I walked right into the brig (as a Delta) and shouted in the MP's face that Rex was the one who sabotaged the OP and half of us never even disobeyed his orders and they just said "we already know" before letting me back out of the brig. I think at that point the MPs were actually torn on whether to put down the mutiny or just arrest Rex Tex for neglect of duty and like 12 False Arrest charges. Delta was briefly involved in the mutiny but stopped as soon as someone decapitated Rex to rally and help hunt down the xenos.

I was in this round. Joined rando squad, happened to get Charlie. Hear about the mutiny and move to assist command in holding the CIC, I’m too late or something. Go down to the Normandy, ask two random Alphas what side they’re on, they both say Mutineer. Of course I’ve already told them that I was a loyalist. They pull out their guns, firefight insues. I kill one and maim the other but get fucked up during the fight, find out Raz McSky it whatever is just a mutineer trying to pose as a loyalist. In my last act I get into a firefight with him, get a few good ahots in but get my head blown off by an MP from outa no where.

Best thing is I had NO IDEA what was going on the entire round.

Interestingly it's been a running joke between Carson and me that the moment the two of us are in the CIC together we'd end up killing each other and setting off a mutiny that'd go down in legends. Just had a round with him as CO and me, as Goddard Pearsall, being LT and he jokingly said I'd need Kelo by the end of it, but it worked out extremely well...

Rex was actually the CO on my first XO game. He made me ref a basketball game but it still turned out to be a marine major.

Well, looks like this approach might not work anymore. We recently had a 4:30 round on Ice where an MP was antagonising everyone and getting most of CIC arrested. A similar mutiny happened more or less like this, again, last night. However, this time it was Balto as CO and Charlie performing the mutiny.

I trust Ice mutinies will become a regular occurrence.
