Sandbagger Engineer

Figured I'd share the to-be new meta:
  1. As field engineer get nothing but sandbags as an engineer from your vendor, and like maybe 20x of Plastasteel. Be sure to keep an entrenching tool on you.
  2. Get a bodybag and rollerbed (and maybe a medikit to put them in).
  3. Get M56D crate.
  4. Fill sandbags.
  5. Make barbed wire if you can.
  6. Deploy bodybag and roller bed.
  7. Put M56D parts, a gun with a rail light attached, sandbags and barbed wire into bodybag.
  8. Buckle bodybag to roller bed.
  9. Drag roller bed wherever you need an instant barricade/push base and extract/deploy sandbag stacks and M56D.
  10. Fortify with barbed wire to taste.
  11. Use entrenching tool to disassemble when finished, then pack up materials into bodybag and buckle.
  12. Continue your engineering adventures per the above process.

Why does this remind me of a Felix the Cat episode?

I've been sandbaggin' as an engineer, ordering/supplying only sandbags from/as the RO (with a tiny bit of metal for barbed wire) and praising the wonder of sandbags over metal cades since 2018! Use sandbags, they are superior in every way (AS LONG AS YOU PUT BARBED WIRE).

Utterly useless once phase three kicks in, tho. Also, I can bet it will be nerfed soon, since Surr posted this.

Sandbags are already time consuming and require teamwork...something we all know can be hard for the marines.
I doubt they need or will get a nerf.

On another note, that shared meta is hilarious.

What do you mean by 'phase three''? As in mop up? At that point you've already won. Even during actual pushes this is great since you can fortify any position and make a fall back in less than a minute.

And nah, I can't see this getting nerfed for the simple reason that it's the only way sandbags are actually good as opposed to being durable albeit second rate FOB building materials.

Nah, they're not innately better, and metal is generally better for FOB as long as you've got MTs/Engis manning them for repairs (though SBs are good for closing breaches quickly), but when it comes to making fast push bases, as long as you can haul completed SBs there is no comparison.

On that note, I haven't seen a single other engineer hauling completed sandbags with rollerbag carts, which is what makes them actually worth a shit.

I think the concern is that with the fill times removed when leveraging sandbags offensively this means of carrying them specifically will be nerfed, though I don't think that should happen because this is the only real niche sandbags fill well.

I remember one of the chief concerns of letting bodybags be buckled into roller beds was that people would do this exact thing.

The moment someone so much as pokes one of the sandbag cades, you'll get only four bags on dismantling them.

I don't think it's a problem; like I said, it's what makes sandbags actually worth a shit, and capable of fulfilling their role as an aggressive, fast build barricade. Also, you do tend to be a little vulnerable in transit due to dragging taking up an arm.

However, I *do* think that the carry capacity of bodybags may be a tad too high. When i initially suggested this, I thought that might be a problem: https://gitlab.com/cmdevs/ColonialMarines/issues/1456

Personally I'd like to see an actual supply/hauling cart of some kind be a thing, since using bodybags feels janky.
