Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
Absolutely. Nobody is above the Rules, it is the binding contract of the server. All members of the server should be punished accordingly and equally.
Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
I do, it is used when a Commander sees fit to execute any personnel onboard the USS Almayer, excluding MP staff, the Corporate Liaison, and medical staff. It is used by the Commander for executing any Marine for a reasonable rational they believe in. An example of this could be an unruly Marine inciting a mutiny onboard the USS Almayer, or a Staff Officer ignoring your direct orders and going above and beyond to undermine your authority by grave actions that endanger the lives of Marines.
Any mistake or flaw in your logic could result in your whitelist being revoked. It is the Commander's duty to take precaution when executing a BE, lest they are de-whitelisted. It is also important not to forget that, just because you can BE, doesn't always mean you should.
Do you understand you are not above Marine law or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Yep, as a player who has enjoyed playing as an MP I understand Marine law to the best of my ability, and as a Commander, I would not be another CMP or MP. It is also that it is the Commander's duty to remember that the Warrant Officer outranks everybody on the Almayer in accordance to Marine law. However, it is also the duty of a Commander to abide by Marine Law in certain scenarios, but if Marine law stands between the operation and the lives of your Marines and crewmen, it should not be taken as a sacred oath. This should not be exclusive to just these two scenarios either.
What do you think is the job of a Commander?
The role of Commander is to provide the crew and Marines of the USS Almayer a leader, a man who would be willing to go above and beyond for them in ensuring cohesion between each squad, as well as organization overall. Continuing, the Commander should make sure each department is accomplishing their tasks, achieving this through his rank and ability as a competent Commander, as well as helping shipside services achieving essential functions if necessary. Continuing, a good Commander should always be attempting to learn more and delegate tasks to his subordinates, such as Staff Officers, Synths, and especially the Executive Officer.
While it is easy just to remember the Marines, it is also good to remember that Xenos are players too. A Commander should make the round enjoyable for all participants, no matter the faction. It is always important to remember roles like the Corporate Liaison, Medical Researcher, and smaller roles when making decisions, though they should not clout your mind. It is also to remember the expense of each decision you make and remember the cost of each action you might make in a round, though sometimes you might be unable to.
If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
Usually, whenever a member of the Command team goes against orders, they have a good reason for their decision. This could be from retrieving useful new information, at the cost of not telling me or somebody else I can safely put my trust with. At the same time, it should be noted that in certain scenarios communications could take too long and it would require the certain staff member to react quickly, or if communications are unavailable entirely. It could also be an entire misunderstanding between the Commander and his staff, as it can happen frequently.
In these scenarios, I would not punish the staff member, but instead, warn them in the future to attempt to reach me or somebody I could trust first. On the other hand, there are staff members who would continue to warrant action. For example, if a Staff Member went above and beyond in attempting to undermine your authority as the Commanding officer of the USS Almayer and would continually ignore your direct orders and who push off warnings. There are also scenarios where the staff member had the option and time to contact me or somebody I trust with orders but still did not. This is especially dangerous if the order is vital and important, such as evacuation from the planet and orbital bombardments that could risk the lives of the ship's Marines.
For these situations, this would warrant a punishment ranging from brig time to a battlefield execution in the most extreme scenario, all depending on the severity of each case by case situation. It is always important to remember that you should not abuse your power just because you have it, as I went over in the BE section of the application.
Why should you be whitelisted?
As Peter Bates, and subsequently Erwin Dietrich, I have been in love with playing as roleplay-based roles like the Corporate Liaison and the Medical Researcher, as well as playing Squad Marine and other combat based roles. Most importantly though, I enjoy and put a special place in my heart for playing as the Executive Officer and other CIC staff, like the Staff Officers. It is this that I believe would make me a capable Commander, as I have four months worth of experience in the CIC since I first started playing as a Staff Officer in March.
As an Executive Officer, I try my hardest to strive through roleplay and having fun in the role. Aswell, I occasionally become the aCO due to a dead or absent CO from the CIC staff team. I attempt to learn from my mistakes every round, although I am not superhuman. I have experience in every Marine department, excluding the tank which I have been unavailable to play yet. It is in my honest opinion that as the CO, I would create more opportunities for enjoyment and fun for Marines almost every round.
Thanks!
