Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
the most famous combos for each weapons are generally :
-Mag harness, angled grip and a BC/Bayonet for a buckshot-based shotgun.
-RDS, Shotgun stock and bayonet for a slug-based shotgun.
-Red dot sight/rail flashlight, vertical grip and extended barrel/bayonet for the M41A.
-HPR is mostly given a QFA/RDS, Vertical grip and a suppressor/extended barrel.
You should never use the SMG, but if you have to, build it as if it was a (shit-tier version of the) M41A.

M39 isn't a gun to kill things, it's a gun to defend yourself.
Laser Sight/MagHarness/Stock and AP you can get. You can burst fire it one handed with more accuracy than most BC M41s get wielded, very useful as a medic when you're making mad runs dragging a Marine on a stretcher. Saved 2 marines from being pounced and even got a warrior to fuck off last time I played running evacs from Hydro to LZ1 on LV, because Delta couldn't make a Nexus fob to save their life.

Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
If want somethin heavy hittin. Well good old Balto ere can help I usually roll either as grunt or SL rockin a Standard Rifle with Bayonet+Red Dot+Rifle Stock+ Masterkey shotty (Optional). I do like puttin the rifle towards burst fire, due to accuracy and other attachments sorta counter each other a bit. I tend to grab bunch of Extended mags due to it bein about 60 and can reload em by hand with standard ammo also take few AP. It is a killer at range and somewhat close range more so mediuem, can kill boilers real good due to distance, damage and accuracy. Heavy hittin rifle that I quite enjoy, juat fun heavy hitting rifle I tend to go time to time. At close range got that bayonet plus rifle stock so that can do a bit at close quarters.

You tend to defend yourself by firing something that will threaten to kill. I can tell you that as a xenomorph I won't even try to dodge your M39 bullets unless if I'm a young runner. That's how weak they are. You will only chase away new xeno players, due to the psychological impact of the sound of the firing gun.Davidchan wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 12:25M39 isn't a gun to kill things, it's a gun to defend yourself.

Your AP SMG shoots bullets roughly as strong as those of a vanilla M41A, but much slower and with more spread.

Tell that to the Elite Runner I killed and the warrior(s) who kept retreating from the bursts. With Stock and Laser the M39 has basically no spread on burst and if you're close to the FOB then that fire will draw the attention of unga dungas looking to make something bleed. Added bonus that dragging the stretched makes you nearly immune to pounce and grab bs.IMVader wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 14:28You tend to defend yourself by firing something that will threaten to kill. I see no reason for a young warrior to retreat from those bursts, and the lunge can go through corners, so a stretcher will be a poor defense for you. Stun is the name of the game here.Davidchan wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 14:32Tell that to the Elite Runner I killed and the warrior(s) who kept retreating from the bursts. Good luck is all I can say.
EDIT: I've also 1v1 a spitter with a boot knife before. I wouldn't recommend the knife for a ranged stunner, though.

Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
I logged in just to point out that you never fucking take stocks, ever. Slug shotgun has more than adequate accuracy with any kind of booster without needing one of the worst attachments in the game to supplement it.Gnorse wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 12:11the most famous combos for each weapons are generally :

You should never use the SMG, but if you have to, build it as if it was a (shit-tier version of the) M41A.
Also the best attachment configs are:
M37 (Buckshot):
BC/Bayonet + Mag Harness + Angled. The bayonet version also works well with slugs/flechettes, and can hit with them reliably out to mid range (5 tiles).
M37 (Flechette/Slug):
Bayonet + RDS + Angled.
M41A:
- Suppressor + RDS + BFA (currently the deadliest/best M41A build, but you may well prefer to spend your attachment allowance on a buckshot M37; use AP and attack at mid-range for best results)
- Bayonet/Extended/BC + RDS + Angled/UGL (BC on an M41A is a waste though, given that it could be on an M37 one shotting aliens)
- Bayonet/Nothing + Rail Light + UGL (this is what you use as your secondary weapon as a PFC after you've spent all your attachments on the M37; add bayonet if you have a BC on your M37)
Don't bother.

I know, stocks are trash.
I'm not saying take stocks for the accuracy boost because that's just retarded.
the reason to take stock is to couple it with a bayonet and get some sick melee hits to capitalize on the slug stun

It literally adds like +5 melee damage at the cost of killing your vastly superior ranged DPS, and the frequency with which you can hand out your ranged stuns; it's irredeemable trash.

It still makes the gun look real cool. If you get an extended barrel you could also shoot skeet.Surrealistik wrote: ↑13 Jul 2018, 16:01It literally adds like +5 melee damage at the cost of killing your vastly superior ranged DPS, and the frequency with which you can hand out your ranged stuns; it's irredeemable trash.
As for attachments, I'd usually say stay stock and get some nades for your UGL or some other fancy underbarrel like the sad mini flamer for weeds. If you do wanna try hard specializing is the way to go. BFA RDS Silencer is probably the best bet for a rifle because it's about the only way to bump up your damage capabilities in a meaningful way. I don't really mess with mag harnesses because I've got a pick up macro, isn't 100% successful but no accuracy loss.

Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
I'm gonna' have to go with the rail light and bayonet and here's my honest opinion as to why:
I'm not a huge fan of attachments in general (I'm not really interested in waiting in the RO's long queue line and I rarely ever order things from REQ myself to begin with.) and 99% of the time, my weapon will have zero attachments on it unless I take a gun off the ground and it just so happens to have attachments already installed.
My reasoning for the rail light and bayonet combo is: 1. Rail light gets rid of the need for a flashlight in my pockets/anywhere else (I usually play MT and the armor in the armory don't come with flashlights.) and 2. Bayonet for me is like a two-in-one. I'm not great at being the most robust player, not that I want to be as I'm perfectly fine getting my butt handed to me, but having the option to either be at range or rush up and melee is nice.

For a shotgun generally nothing, a BC if I can get my hands on it but I don't normally ask for one and a gyro if it comes in my role vendor.

Hey Liz, first things first.HPR, i just got out of a round where murta i think dropped a HPR with roughly 100 rounds left that i stole, had a silencer, quickfire and angled grip on it, was actually a good setup, probably the best ive used on a HPR actually, so i suggest trying it.Silencer is optional, but does have a few good factors going for it that out-weigh the damage drop.
If you dont have them attachments but other ones, try switching between using burst and single fire, as it changes everything in certain situations.
As a private i usually always carry two M4 rifles at a minimum, sometimes three :
Support/Utility
M4 with flashlight and vertical grip/UGL.This stays in the armor slot as a last resort rifle and also to make sure you have as much lighting as possible stacked with your armor light.
Support/Utility
M4 with long range railscope and loaded UGL.This one goes on your back as a information gathering/rushing gun to ambush with the UGL, try not to shoot with it at short range though as the ROF is too slow.I used to also run a vertical grip and extended barrel on this, but the vertical grip is better on your light rifle in the armor slot and the damage decrease with the extended barrel is too much of a negative on a scoped M4
This is the latest rifle setup ive been testing and is a great third rifle to carry as your primary,
Primary
M4 with RDS and burst fire adapter carried in your hands, simple, effective and is probably the best accuracy/ROF combo you can get on the M4 its looking like.
Dont usually carry a shotgun(unless its a tactical), but when i do its also got a light on it, RDS preferred if shooting slugs and generally dont want anything hanging off the end of the barrel killing the accuracy of the RDS.
No M39, and definitely no handguns unless your a spec or something with a 88mod or better.88 usually gets a light/RDS/quickfire on top and a burst fire adapter underneath.

Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
I don't really put attachments on guns to be effective, mostly to look cool, is that alright?
Stocks definitely look cool, even if they suck, but it's great to take the SMG stock since the SMG sucks anyway. A laser sight immediately makes any gun look cooler, especially when paired with a suppressor.
Ultimately the rail light is the best attachment though, because knowledge is everything, and expanded light radius helps with that.

If you take a gun, just to look cool.. That means you're not really willing to kill anything, or not able to kill anything (especially if you talk about SMGs).WolfOrion wrote: ↑16 Jul 2018, 05:09I don't really put attachments on guns to be effective, mostly to look cool, is that alright?

Which also means that you waste room in a firing line, because if you can't kill anything, being in a firing line won't change anything neither. Marines need space to kill xenos (roughly, 2 to 3 tiles = 2 to 3 weapons to kill one xeno, the more robustos you have, the less room you need). If you waste your space, you reduce the efficiency of the marines around you, increasing THEIR chance to be killed, you included.
There is Roleplay, and Xenos. Xenos don't RP, and won't RP with you. If you want to RP longer ? Survive and kill xenos. The breaks and moments of calm will be the moments where and when you can look cool and snowflakey. Otherwise, this is still a server with a heavy focus on combat.
Knowledge is not everything. It's how you use knowledge that is powerful. This is why you have some "know it all" unable to pull their fingers from their asses to do anything while try try to teach you about life and their specific field of expertise. While someone you could think as not so smart being much more efficient at a dedicated task.

Shotgun with Bayonet, Mag harness, Angled Grip. Load it with buckshot, and try to stun a xeno with it. Run in with your bayonet once it's stunned for a glorious kill.
I never take a pulse rifle, and even then I don't waste my goodies from requisitions on one. If you really want a kitted out pulse rifle, just stay alive long enough and you'll be able to yoink one from a dead marine.

Re: Whats your favourite attachment combinations for each weapon?
Why are stocks given a firing speed debuff anyways? Doesn't really make sense that a brace designed to help you absorb recoil and get your sight back on target quicker results in a longer fire delay. I could get behind longer wield delays and slower wielded movement, but firing slower having a stock when there are no attachments for rifles and SMGs that increase fire speed just brings up more questions about the balance.

"It was a fantastic round. If the CO hadn't cryo'ed before the end I'd have bothered him to give at least two more medals. To PFC Max Dallas, who kept doing the path between the frontlines to FOB (the only place with medical aid) with a roller bed, and saved a lot of marines who'd have husked otherwise. And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."
