Opinions on Explode on Impact Grenade launchers.

What do you guys think about making the grenades launched from the underbarrel and spec grenade launchers explode on impact. In my time playing I have seen grenades only used to suicide when captured or to clear weeds. The few times that I have seen them used against xenos they just dodge out of the way. I think this would go a long way in making the grenade launcher spec usable, and grenades in general more useful in combat. One downside I see to this, is FF would increase with your random unga marines.

Maxes are more so used to punish any aliens out of position by firing it behind them, so they can't retreat.

If gls could explode on impact.... They'd probably be nerfed hard because they'd be far more accurate.

I totally agree with Solid, UGL/GL are mostly to be fired behind the target in a way to block a retreat or maybe suppress a push. The facilitation of the use of the grenades would cause heavy penalties, I fear what the grenade would be turned into.
Although this is against common sense, sacrifices must be made to keep the machine working.

Furthermore, the grenades are already quite useful in T1/T2 castes if you know how to use - this is most one post of the series "Why we can't have nice things".

isnt RPG spec basically explode on impact nade launcher but without the B18

I think HEDPs are fine the way they are, aside from the bullshit random fuse timer. They aren't meant to be used against Quick Xenos, you whip them out when you see a Boiler, Hivelord Carrier or Prae or when you see a xeno camping around a door way that you want to push. Although something like this for HIDPs might make them useful, maybe like trading AOE stun for flat burn damage.

And they're still not going to be effective vs quick Xenos given the slow projectile speed and limited munitions; better to hold the grenades in reserve for something you can actually nail with the HEDP than try to crit a Young Runner and whiff.

Fair enough, Id also like to add that this would give the underbarrel attachments some more utilty as grips are really the only viable thing right now.

I hope you all realize current M41A damage is too garbage to finish a, say, elite warrior that walked into a grenade. Even 3 rifles won't kill the shit.

Kinda in favor, but I fear they would be nerfed somehow in turn for this.

To me they already seem relatively useless in direct use, the targets usually get away as Marines throw "too early" and may not have much of a choice as they might blow up in their faces.

In short, they are indeed better suited to either suicide or to simply clear aliens out from a position. Or you throw th em because you want to gamble and see if you can direct-hit them.

Grenades are useless since ravagers stun is short, crushers immune, queen not stunnable and almost immune.

And more importantly SINCE THE TIMER IS RANDOM BETWEEN 3 AND 5. Most retarded way to nerf, sorry to say that.
