Crazy/Brave Acts
RIght, so a game like this, everyone's probably got some insane stories of heroism or someone being so absolutely insane that it gives the Xenos pause, so I was thinking, why not share?
I remember one round on Big Red. When I get down to the surface, I try to help out as we're pushed back, Delta's SB planted outside Eta. After a while, the squad starts begging for supplies and the RO asks where the beacon is. Since I was a PFC and didn't have anything too valuable to risk losing when everyone was pulling back to the FOB, I bolt for Eta after telling the RO I'd get down there, thinking the beacon was just laying on the ground. I get there to find corpses laying everywhere, random supplies laying around, and our SB planted by the wall. Frustrated, I report this to the RO, who decides to send the supplies to the FOB on Alamo.
As I'm getting ready to leave, I decide to collect infotags from all the downed marines when I see a crate out of the corner of my eye. Excited, I pull it into the center of the courtyard and start grabbing anything I can find. Backpacks, ammo/medical/toolbelts, anything I can find gets removed from everyone I see as I hurry through it. By this point, every Marine had been ordered back to the FOB and I was a good 2-3 minute walk from the nearest squad, but I didn't care as I call out anything of value I find. Eventually the SO or RO tell me to stop and head back, but I wait until I can't find anything worth staying for and haul the crate back by myself. During the entire quiet trek back, I only see one Xeno, but before it can grab me a few Alphas wander south, causing it to back off.
As I stop in the FOB, I open up the crate and give a proper inventory of what I grabbed: all the supplies from at least one dead medic, a tool belt that was laying around, about 4-5 backpacks filled with ammo, a defib, and a Medevac stretcher. It wasn't much, but every little bit helps. Shortly after, we hear fighting in T-comms so I run to investigate and get torn apart, ending the story of Goddard Pearsall, the lunatic that ran right into hostile territory alone and recovered everything he could.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
I was a MT while the Almayer was being boarded. After running around with the marines for a while I decide "forget this, I'm holing up somewhere." So I move to the reactor room and fill it with metal barricades and weld one of the two doors. As I'm welding the second door out pops a sentinel, a quick skirmish occurs and without any weeds to go back to it dies. I head back to the door and bam, out come a runner. We play a game of open close open with the door but the runner still makes his way into the room. I finally finish off the runner and weld the door shut, then I spot a defender behind the glass and barricades. I taunt it a bit knowing full well that I'll probably die soon, then the scan appears "2 unidentified lifeforms on the ship." I might have a chance at this, I head to the south door to give ramboing a shot but what I didn't realise was that the QUEEN was melting it while I was taunting the defender. She screeches and destroys me, ending the round, a pathetic end but for a moment there I had a chance to finish off the xeno scum.

Was that the Delta that was seriously wounded on Prison Station and the surviving Deltas stole Normandy, infiltrated the station, and slipped behind Xeno lines to rescue after Evac and managed to revive? I can't remember...

It was on LV, day was being treated but xenos came hammering and the medic put him a body bag and hid him.
He was shouting to not be left behind, so Bill Carson ordered marines to deploy solely to rescue him. Marines fought on 3 frontlines to rescue Day, which gave some crippling to benos and made us win the round.

Prison, deadpop, Charlie pushing into Civilian pre-shutter drop (we scouted north and got all the way to VIP-residence), I got screeched, captured by a drone, nested, broke out, ran all the way back to LZ1 without any beno even watching me, got an abortion, and we won the round.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
After evacing the planet, Jackson mother fucking Dee thought we should go back down to the planet, which at this point had been lost, to save One marine who was already dead. He died screaming his comms and we heard his last transmission. I was the SL and got two other volunteers plus Dee to go back down on DS2 to save this marine.
We go down on DS2 and book it ASAP to the last known location of the marine. When we get there we find one defender and the marines freshly killed corpse. We load him onto a stretcher and book it back to LZ2. The PO was pissed we stole DS2 and called it back up before we were on board. So we sit on LZ2 screaming obscenities at the PO while desperately trying to defib the rescued marine. We get him stable cram him and a bag and after what felt like hours the DS returns and we board and get away and promptly beat the shit out of the PO who launched early.
Best rescue mission I've ever been a part of. Kudos to Jackson for not leaving a man behind.

The one I'm talking about the CO went from screaming that they were going to get brigged for treason to quietly giving half the rescue team medals for the unauthorized OP. Not often you can say Marines got medals for stealing a DS.Blade2000Br wrote: ↑01 Aug 2018, 14:42Nope.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
I remember staying behind after evac with one another marine at LZ1 to launch an OB, and clean up after it.
My OB killed 14 xenos, I eventually was killed by the surviving hive and my companion, some unknown, bravo silent marine was killed too.
The commander launched a rescue mission, they recovered my body and revived me, I spent the whole round pretty depressed about those who died that operation, as most my team perished.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
That reminds me of this one OP. We evacuated and were pretty badly shaken up when Alamo dropped, so we start panicking. Then three minutes pass and we agree the xenos probably took over Alamo somehow. Five minute mark, xenos haven't launched yet and we decide to send the scout Specialst down and have the rest of the Marines rally in briefing. They drop solo on Normandy, sneak across the map without getting detected, and place an OB outside Alamo without being detected. Alamo's engines warm up... And half the Xenos inside get nuked. The confused hive rides to the Almayer, trying to figure out what happened... Only to land on the western side of briefing to be swarmed by the now-recovered, rearmed, and pissed Marine force.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
I did something in a recent round that was pretty stupid and still kind sorta worked.
It has been a long round on ice colony and marines were losing badly. The Queen has called the Alamo once but had not locked it fast enough so command called it back. When the queen called it again several PFCs and I were still aboard. I decide to try and draw some aliens away from the Alamo so that if the queen is not paying attention she leaves them behind. When the Alamo lands I dash out the eastern Alamo door. For better or worse only one alien spots me, a young runner. I have a decent lead and am moving fast for a marine (I had removed my armor) so I run out the NE LZ1 flank. Sure enough the runner follows me. My only weapon is a shotgun with a bayonet and rail flashlight loaded with buckshot. The runner is chasing me and catching up fast, I fire the shotgun at it just as it pounces. I get knocked over and splashed with acid blood, luckily the runner is put into crit. I get up and finish the runner off with the bayonet. I run off through the colony to engineering. After I hear the announcement indicating the aliens have left I go to the (mostly destroyed) bar where I set up some chairs put corpses of dead marines into the chairs and role play having gone insane.

Everyone who remembers that remembers a different commander. Some even remember the commander being themselves.Blade2000Br wrote: ↑01 Aug 2018, 14:42Nope.

As the Day in question, it was CO Harry (Henry?) Bickerson, hero of the USCM.
But my personal contribution to this thread was one time, I was with TopHatPenguin (Osalaa Wooki) in some squad I can't remember. The FOB fell and I ran out the south door and made it to the door of engineering before collapsing from my wounds. TPH was also on the way out and dragged my dead and dying ass all the way across the LV map alone with only a pistol. I think it was the Vindicator pod at that time still (maybe it was DS2) but regardless the ship on LZ2 came down and he threw my ass inside. If I recall correctly, he defended it until he was mauled to death by several xenos. It's been a while, though, so my memory is fuzzy.

I remember that, but only because someone spectated you and said something, which freaked the hell out of everyone in dchat. I was once on lowpop, and literally won the round for marines.
We were holding hydro back in my gyro-riot shield days. I killed a sentinel, a god damn rav, and other 7 xenos. At the end, a boiler was suicide charging the wounded and i was the only one nearby. I got fucked up, but killed It, Just to realize he was the last xeno.

I play Sydney 'Lilly' Wood, the totally not depressed doctor, And the marine Dylan Bell, that probably joined the USCM by accident.

I've once rushed Lambda with another guy and killed a warrior, then a Mature Ravager decides to barge in, missing it's charge. It pushed me into a 1-tile wide corridor, but thankfully I had buckshot in my gun. Managed to kill the beast with my last shell. Lynn died from being splashed by the dying xeno, but the poor ayy didn't even enter crit. It instantly died.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
The round I got my only medal in, fittingly enough. Back when the quickfire M41A extended barrel was my go to loadout prior to its nerf. It was a pretty normal prison round and I was a beautiful bravo boy manning the canteen FOB which was under heavy attack at that point in the round. The defenses were fucking horrible and the engineers should have been executed for their crimes against the cade gods, but strangely their incompetence set me up for a great play.
The queen was for some reason fairly isolated north of the FOB, I think she was moving into position to flank past the canteen and cut off the FOB and got a bit too close so I could see her from where I was. Since the engineers fucked their job spectacularly there were no defenses at all northeast of the FOB. That gave me a lot of space to run around. Well I had a single AP mag and upon seeing the queen by herself in the middle of a large open space, I did what any self respecting marine would do and charged firing my quickfire rifle as fast as I could. She panicked and tried to retreat back to the weed lines north of the FOB however AP + quickfire was more than a match for the big bitch and after maybe 4-5 seconds of rapid fire she went down.
Marines had been on the back foot for the entire round and it was easily looking like a loss. However when the queen died mid-flank the marines rallied while the xenos scrambled and we managed to launch a counterattack that decimated the benos'. Later on in the round I also got devoured by an Elite Crusher, bursted out of it, and stabbed it to death with my boot knife before passing into pain crit. All in all it was easily my most successful round and probably will be the only time I single-handedly change the outcome of a game.
EDIT: Even better, I realized in that screenshot I took during the round that even in msay the mods were talking about how the xenos were annihilating the marines. Made the comeback all the more satisfying.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
Corporal Wilson was an Alpha engineer who had been tasked to hold TComms on the absolute shithole that is Ice Colony. He did his job and he did his job well, never leaving the barricades even as he got cut off from FOB and evac was called. When the Alamo returned to the Almayer, I could still hear Wilson screaming and fighting over comms and I decided we couldn't just leave him to die. I gathered a handful of Alpha marines and one Delta marine to take TComms back, a small group of eight heroes willing to risk it for our engineer with me and the PO as the ninth and tenth.
It was an ill-fated rescue. We drop and I spearhead the charge as we rush west, but we don't get far before we run into an immovable wall of xenos that wipe me out and force the rest to fall back. The rest fight hard inside the Alamo to keep themselves alive as the Queen and T3/T2s flood the dropship to satisfy their bloodlust... failing to hear the Alamo engines spool up. Seven xenos are trapped inside the Alamo and are either killed by the sheer will of those overwhelmed few on the Alamo or are squashed by the marine force when it lands in the hangar. The raid killed several important xenos, including the Elite Empress and Elite Crusher, so while we weren't able to retake Wilson's body we made them pay the price.
Then the xenos waited twenty minutes for their twenty burrowed larva, stormed the Almayer and won lmao
there are a lot of crazy acts I see happen round to round. being a marine is fun because you never really do know when you'll pull off something insane that everyone looks at and flips out about, this is just one of the more recent events I had a good hand in.
Another thing happened just earlier today where we had an Ice round where I killed a Queen trying to screech and push into the eastern cades. Queen was in a boiler acid cloud thinking she was safe slashing a marine when I run into the cloud, pointblank her twice and smack her once, then I watch her try to run off before falling down four to five tiles away and getting absolutely destroyed by everybody magdumping into her when the cloud clears. Queen's death led to xenos getting disorganized and so we repelled them, counterattacked and secured the win fifteen minutes later.

The best I ever saw was a one-armed MT manfighting a Ravager with nothing but a welding torch during a CIC holdout on the Almayer. It actually won the round for the marines, the Ravager actually ran away and the sight of the one armed MT chasing him down the halls spurred the marines to make a mighty hail mary charge after them, catching the aliens resting off the damage from the previous push and slaughtering them.

Re: Crazy/Brave Acts
My heroism as a Medic.
Mostly the command won't care about medics. Well, in big red map I save 50+ marines even I already have broken bones and internal bleeding but still holding. Saving a dying marine in lethal acid but I got fucked by a rav and crusher but I manage to save his ass until the enemies dragged me to death but lucky one Charlie medics revive me. I am the medic won't allow someone to die cuz my passion is to save those wounded marines.

Y'see, it has always been in the know that if you boop a Ravager on the snoot, you are gonna die immediately.
Well. Let me learn you some knowledge: I saw someone do exactly that. 'Cept he didn't die.
Immediately, anyway.
I lifted the CIC lockdown to try and get some of the Command Staff out through the Brig. Well. Turns out, none of us had a crowbar.
A Ravager runs in on us, and, while I was being mauled, Lieutenant Prechtl, who had lost his shotgun, started boopin' the Ravager on the snoot.
Eventually, I grabbed his shotgun and got a round off before I died, but I owe my extra thirty seconds of painful existence to Prechtl, he who hath the intestines of brass.
