How's the fight eh?

Post by Recounted » 29 Aug 2018, 01:29

Generally been playing xeno lately and it's got that feeling I had from when I first played cm. The challenge and tense fights that happens. Weird for me to experience this from the xenomorph side now when it used to be the marines getting their asses whooped back then on the sulaco days. I blame it on the samy maps we always vote on since LV were never my favorite to play on to much. But it feels pretty good to have that feeling again when the other side is a threat a again (and marines being badasses aside from the occasional ff).

I've found the same thing -- I've hardly played any marine roles lately. Xeno has a fresh learning curve to it now, and it's a lot more fun since xeno tackle/health were nerfed

people don't play as xenomorphs so much anymore, this hurts the xeno side a lot and makes winning a massive challenge in lowpop

The more challenging the fight is, the less xenos randomly wandering around doing nothing, I like the current state of things.
When the OB misfires and xenos are on your doorstep.

It actually feels like a fair fight now, honestly.
Both sides have to actually put their brain into the game to win.

I myself agree that, in those times where I roll xenomorph, it is a very intense struggle that requires you to push yourself HARD in order to help your hive and really take advantage of your caste's strengths.

I swear, too often I see xenos squander certain rolls, like how carriers don't make it a habit to haul eggs to the frontlines as often as possible, or how drones only do the bare minimum of defense creation, and queens? Don't get me started...

Can we all agree to be extremely thankful toward devs JUST for the previously stated upgrades?

I am not even talking aboyt CAS/Tank and that sick explosive system.

Other than I'll disagree JUST on one thing, 1v1 as xeno VS marine is STILL easy, as intended, yet harder than before and I think the tackle timer for some caste is still a bit low.
I understand the marine frustration when a lurker stunlocks them but jesus how much different is that from neurospam or warrior grab? Besides at some point you're just fucked if you are being pulled/tackled away from your squad.

Is 'fresh learning curve' and 'refreshing challenge' code for for xenos being absolute fucking shit?

I stick with marine only because wasting time as xeno is awful, and looking at the changelog it seems to be staying that way for some time.

Marine is fun because I can't shoot AP into a squadmate as a xeno.

I disagree with this.. I've played several low pop rounds over the past few weeks and Xenos still won the majority of them. The only exception I found was when there were a lot of robust marines/bald Xenos online and marines ended up winning 4 times in a row one night.

Xenos still have their glory days. Heck, on October 25th there were approximately 40 Xenos in one round.

The new explosion dynamics have had the biggest changes. Xenos now have to be extremely careful when approaching marine lines, or getting mixed up in furballs.

I've been playing lots of xeno lately. I dont really like latejoining as a marine anymore because the amount you can RP is lessened since you didn't bond with your squad at mission start, and also because by the time you show up usaully the mission has already been decided.

Marine just feels kind of samey lately, and the xenos currently feel like you have to play your ass off to win. I enjoy that aspect.

Gotta agree with that, late joining is not much more fun nowaday. At 12:50 either the round over or the steamroll is already starting and you can't do anything about it but slowly retreat, which is no fun.
On a side note that was not the case years ago, really. It was fun at any moment, though it can just be a personal feeling.

They sped the game up every way they could. Thats why games end in 1-2 hours instead of 3-4 hours. That affects late joins too.

if marines are stomping then latejoining is just you looking around for aliens to shoot and running off solo in the hopes that Young Runner (931) gets the balls to quit running forever and try to attack you thinking they can kill you

it's still far more preferable than having rounds last four fucking hours though

I don't know chap, I think I just enjoyed oldschool midpop on Nostromo more than anything. Even if it sometimes lasted longer at least it wasn't delay.

I ain't never played on Nostromo, but if it wasn't delay then it's alright in my book. I hate four hours rounds on CM nowadays because it's usually just aliens running circles around the map and refusing to fight until they're all grown or marines being unable to push out of FOB because they don't have enough manpower and xenos being unwilling to attack for forty minutes despite being practically guaranteed to win the fight if they just walked forward into the FOB and slashed at the cades
