Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14417)?
I read over it a few times to make sure I can fully appreciate the limitations it imposes. I've also made sure to familiarize myself with marine law.

It was already just past 11am ship time as the Executive Officer made his way down the upper port hallway to meet with the Corporate Liaison that was assigned to the USS Almayer. The liaison had mentioned an important delivery had been made he was excited to share with the command staff, however the XO was more interested in finishing the meeting in time to grab a quick lunch before the scheduled wake-up time for the rest of the platoon. He had, begrudgingly, taken the place of the Commander who was too busy pampering Jones to bother with bureaucracy this morning.
The XO had arrived at the CL's office and was about to briskly knock when the doors stuttered open to reveal the liaison with an overbearing grin on his face. He stared briefly at the XO with a measuring eye before stepping to the side and waving expectantly. "Come in, come in! Can I get you anything? A glass of sake perhaps?"
"I really shouldn't," the XO denied the offering half-heartedly while entering the room, "we should get down to business ASAP. Planning and such for the upcoming mission will be underway soon."
"Ah of course, of course," the liaison nodded.
Planting himself as close as comfortably possible to the exit, the XO removed his cap and brushed a hand through his hair as he gazed around the room. He gave a start when he spotted another person standing silently at the front of the room. The XO spoke with apparent suspicion "My apologies, am I interrupting something?"
The liaison was a little too giddy to reveal what he knew. "Not at all! In fact this is what I wanted to show the commander. As well as the rest of the command staff, of course. This is the Company's latest synthetic model, fresh off the production line and fully programmed with the knowledge and skills to perform any assigned duties!" The liaison gestured toward the stranger, "go ahead and introduce yourself to the executive officer."
The synth's stance loosened as he reached a hand out in greeting. "Hey hey, fella! The name's Rob. What can I do ya for?"
The XO reciprocated the handshake by instinct, but turned and arched an eyebrow at the liaison. "'Fella'?"
The liaison adjusted his collar for a few seconds. "This model's behavior protocols are programmed for more, ah, informal interaction. Our focus tests showed much higher approval rating among consumers within a certain uh education level demographic. "I like this robot 'cause it don't got no stick up its ass talkin' all fancy" was one such consumer's review upon being surveyed after testing. I assure you however that it does have an equivalent level of knowledge as any of our other models. Go ahead, ask it a few questions if you'd like to test it yourself."
A moment passed in silence as the XO weighed his options. The low ambient hum of the space faring shuttle's inner workings was interrupted by a visceral grumble in his gut. With a heavy sigh, he turned his attention back to the Synth. "Ok Rob. Let's say hypothetically the engines break down and we get stranded without power. Would you be able to repair them if there aren't any maintenance techs available?"
Rob nodded enthusiastically. "No problem, pal! A bit of welding and some duct tape ought to fix any old hunk of junk. I wager the make of this ship means you got yourself some S-52's. Easy enough to set up and guaranteed to work at full power for at least an hour before falling apart, but equally easy to repair to compensate!"
The XO blinked. "Alright, let's say you're working medbay and the operating rooms are full. Marines are lining the beds waiting for treatment and begging for painkillers, but the tramadol stock is getting pretty low. How do you handle it?"
"I suppose I could make more tram to dole out like candy. As a painkiller, it is pretty competitive on the baby aspirin market after all. I could just as easily synthesize some oxy. Dig this, painkiller so strong your boys could get trampled by a rhino and barely feel a tickle. Take two of these and call me in the morning!" Rob winked and gave a thumbs up.
With a grimace, the XO continued, "requisitions is short staffed and needs you to man one of the lines to distribute equipment and attachments. A PFC approaches the desk and hands over an order form for a heavy pulse rifle. Next in line a combat engineer hands in an order form for a few stacks of metal. You only have enough points to fill one of those orders ASAP. Which do you choose?"
"The metal, of course. Heavy weapons can be fun for a party, but having a good defensive line is like having a solid foundation. It makes any house a home. You give a team a home, they'll treat each other like family."
With a smirk, the XO countered, "and if the commander tells you to order the HPR for the PFC?"
Rob shrugged. "Looks like papa's playing favorites and taking out a mortgage on the home. Little Timmy gets his pop gun for Christmas instead."
The liaison, hand on chin, began tapping his foot. "So what do you think? He's fully operational and ready to serve as soon as even this operation."
Exhaling with a glance at his watch, the XO notes that he'll need to be back in CIC for planning in 40 minutes. "As amusing as this has been, I'll have to run it by the CO for approval before we start using any new equipment," upon noticing the liaison's expression dip, he amended "perhaps I can put in a good word regarding this little quiz."
The liaison opened his mouth, but the XO cut him off. "Maybe I can arrange a field test, and maybe with a practical demonstration of his skills you can get the approval from the rest of command. What do you think, Rob? Would you be up for that?"
"Hey now, whatever it's gotta take so we can dance to the same rhythm. Just don't ask me to actually dance," Rob leaned in and feigned a whisper, pointing a thumb at the liaison "they built me with two left feet."
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
I intend to play Rob somewhat as a cheeky salesman speaking informally and loose, often using layman's terms to keep conversations concise and simple, and making occasional use of (perhaps dated) slang and colloquialisms to be able to conform with and put at ease the people he would be assisting in a hopefully amusing way. Think the Chairmen from Fallout: New Vegas, except with less "Baby"s and "Ring-a-ding"s. Unless you wanted, that is.
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)
I have played each role at least a handful of times to get a decent grasp of the role's duties and how each role impacts the round. I am particularly fond of playing medical and engineering both shipside and groundside, and enjoy occasionally working overwatch. I would be interested in exploring the coming research elements as well.
Why should we whitelist you?
My favorite aspects of the game are the roleplay opportunities and working as a team. I am not particularly robust at combat, but I thoroughly enjoy trying to be as helpful as I can in areas I would like to believe I am most adequate which tend to be support roles. It would be an honor and a pleasure to have the flexibility and responsibilities of the synthetic role that I may be able to help make other players' rounds as enjoyable as possible.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?
I have not been banned in the last month.
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?
I am not currently banned from any other server.
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?
I understand and agree with these terms.
