Commander on deck!

Post by Dolth » 03 Oct 2018, 04:30

Yo.

So I recently saw lot of different commanding officers as XO/CO since I play and ideas are totally and really different, I'd like people to say who's their favorite XO/CO and for which reasons and to discuss about it.

Now you're all gonna hate me but to me and from VERY far, Carson is my favored CO and for few reasons.
As much as Heinz, he gets HUGE plans in place and actually have tactics directly injected in CM while taking in account differences with IRL and CM with a relentless effort. Acts fast, think fast, has a bit of banter when required and is pretty RPish. (Yes, sending the last 5 marine to death to pod himself in safety is in fact deeper RP than you think.)
The fact he barely share informations though is litterally because you don't need to know why you're securing lz2 and not lz1, he does know the plan perfectly, not you. And as I was taught in the military; "One plan/order/tactic precisely applied by everyone with no asked questions, as bad as it is, will ALWAYS be more efficient than a great plan/order/tactic half respect by your troops."
And we both know dear reader that marines can't prevent themselves from applying their own rules and behaviour.
I will always with loyal to Carson to enforce that logic and hopefully once inspire other marines to follow one of his plan.
Because marines can loose even if a plan is fully followed, they can also loose when it's not. Therefor peeps should take more of Carson's actions in consideration.

Your thoughts with lesser banter? :)

Carson, unironically, is the CO I've enjoyed serving as SO under the most because I tend to be more quick to gauge the situation than other command staff and he likes quick, decisive tactics. I remember a round where he basically gave me full autonomy to do whatever I wanted with Bravo since I kept reporting what was going on and giving counters to the hive's movements. Bravo took something like 70% casualties, but their morale during the op was insanely high and they led basically every offensive while Delta (the squad Carson personally selected as the Spec Ops team) broke pretty early after their delayed deployment, which is insanely rare for both the designated FOB squad and the team known for charging blindly into danger without backing down.

I hate SO Carson because he's an ass, but when I play SO under Carson we get shit done.

When I'm in the CIC, I absolutely disdain playing under Carson because I do not agree with how he leads. If he's in charge and I'm not in the CIC, he's a lot of fun. Even once, he was once my squad leader when I was SO and he is an incredibly competent leader at the squad level. He did cryo after the evacuation without really telling me, but it we were already messed up so bad it didn't really matter at that point.

I like playing with Fieffer when I'm also in the CIC. I like his style and he roleplays well.

Vadmin, as he's the only one I've recently seen not force everyone off the planet when the FOB is still up and functional.

I've always enjoyed my rounds with Heinz as CO. Either i'm a shipside role, a marine, or a synth, they always turn out fun. Except that round he deployed planetside when I was XO, and got kidnapped by preds.

Since Luke Compton is an Admiral now, I'll go with Heinz. Good RP, pro-active in leading marines and also has a great sense of loyalty, valor and honor.

also rabies is bad too yeah :>

Gotta respect the classics like Carson and Compton, but we got Alan Jones, Patton Moore, Bob Shoe. All solid choices in my opinion.

Playing in command with Carson is always great fun. I enjoy his RP and he's really consistent, for what he does.

I probably also owe Heinz and Kennel some love as they practically raised me as XO. Now that turned up to be some shit, but still.

Hell, I was fighting over Borras for XO spots and he turned up as an alright CO. I'm a little biased towards those that focus on RP\Kennel not included.

Couple months in. But I didn’t go CO too often. Mostly cause I can’t do a half-assed job as a CO, so it takes up a lot of focus and energy from me to make sure everything is working properly. You know, high expectations and all that while making ends meet against all odds.

If I’m CO, I’m taking responsibility for the round and people expect me to do that too. And just like that I cant accept failure until I’ve tried literaly every option and made every last ditch effort. I like winning.
