Background on the Kamhara'o'Cetanu
► Show Spoiler
The first Kamhara’o’Cetanu on Yautja prime, this is where Krath’Dormati had been living, eating, sheltering, praying, studying and sacrificing the entirety of his body and spirit for the last 10 years. Today was his day, the day that he had devoted everything to. This day would mark his leap up the great steps of the Kamhara’o’Cetanu and in to the next phase of his life and devotion to his Kamhara. This is his story.
Krath had been born in to the Rejmari clan, located on Yautja prime. His clan was not one of the famous ones, nor was it one of the larger ones. For centuries the Rejmari have been a part of the social armpit of Yautja culture, the matured but unblooded of the species. Many of Krath’s direct and extended kin, for he had many, were mostly unblooded adults. His clan reveled in the sciences, the development and creation of technologies and infrastructure and the teachings of many different trades and skills outside of hunting. While these occupations brought little honor to the clan, they did offer up invaluable services to the honorable core of Yautja society that did participate in the hunt.
Krath’s direct family was a very small pocket in the clan. His family was worshipers of Cetanu, the great destroyer, god of death, the black hunter. The Kamhara’o’Cetanu was one of the lesser and looked down upon religious institutions in Yautja culture. They worshipped Cetanu, but not as a god to be worshipped, but as a highly dangerous foe. They saw him as a highly destructive being that was, in the metaphysical sense, the destroyer of the Yautja. Left unchecked Cetanu would be allowed to cross over in to realm of the living and destroy the souls of all Yautja. They saw themselves as the spiritual protectors of their species.
Cetanu was on a constant mission to punish the Yautja for their moral, ethical and spiritual transgressions. The Kamhara’o’Cetanu was formed many hundreds of years ago by scholars and theologians that saw the danger that Cetanu would bring should he be left unchecked. Having an unorthodox view of their ‘worship’ of Cetanu, the Kamhara’o’Cetanu saw most of their flock come from the unblooded and less honored portions of society, such as the Rejmari.
While the Kamhara’o’Cetanu did had a much different view of Cetanu than most other religious institutions that saw Cetanu as their deity, it’s members still sought an honorable life, which was one reason why so many joined its ranks. Being an unblooded adult left ones options for an honorable life almost closed off. The Kamhara’o’Cetanu offered its ranks a chance to gain or redeem their honor through various spiritual means, even if they never participated in an Olq’Lungara.
6 levels of worship existed within the Kamhara’o’Cetanu. The Rundan, the first of the levels were the main flock. This level comprised mostly of every day Yautja that prayed for strength for the Kamhara so that they may defend against Cetanu. They would offer up animals and personal effects as sacrifice to the Kamhara in hopes of appeasing Cetanu, for the majority of the Rundan were not warriors, but unblooded adult Yautja and thus could not offer anything greater in sacrifice.
The second level was the Quij’jaren, the lesser clergy of the Kamhara. These were theological Initiates who were studying in the martial arts and in scripture to defend against Cetanu. Initiates were drawn from the youngest of the Rundan by the Dukh-Jaren. Akin to Youngbloods, the Quij’Jaren trained their bodies, their minds and their souls to the point where they would be allowed to join the ranks of the Yut’Jaren. Not every Quij’jaren however ascends to become a member of the Yut’Jaren, most humbly stay within the ranks of the Quij’Jaren and offer themselves to the Kamhara in their own ways, mainly through historical and theological research and offering spiritual aid to the Rundan.
The third level was the Yut’Jaren, the vetted and experienced members of the clergy. These were journeymen priests of the Kamhara whom had excelled in the martial and spiritual arts. Akin to Blooded Yautja of traditional hunts, the Yut’Jaren had been chosen to participate in the Olq’Lungara, a spiritual trek akin to the traditional hunt Yautja youngbloods would go on as Quij’Jaren. If they successfully completed the trials of the Olq’Lungara, the Quij’Jaren would be given the chance to join the ranks of the Yut’Jaren. Outside of having participated in the Olq’Lungara, the Yut’Jaren would administer various rights and religious classes on to the masses. However, they would continue to go on ritualistic and spiritual Olq’Lungara’s to capture prey so that they may offer it up in sacrifice. Most Yut’Jaren went on to become administrators, teachers and middle level clergy within the Kamhara’o’Cetanu.
The Trojanq’Jaren were the spiritual overseers of the Kamhara, and were the fourth level in the Kamhara’o’Cetanu. They were vetted Yut’Jaren who had proven to be great scholars and warriors. They oversaw all Olq’Lungara’s, and offered up the sacrifices scored on Olq’Lungara’s to Cetanu in hope that they would stave off his advances. Trojanq’Jaren were akin to Hunt Leaders or Pack Captains in traditional Yautja culture. Trojanq’Jaren were Yut’Jaren whom were highly accomplished and noted scholars, warriors and priests. The Trojanq’Jaren oversaw and managed the day-to-day practices of the Kamhara.
The fifth level was the Dukh-Jaren. The Dukh-Jaren was a council of 5 members, chosen in highly secretive votes from amongst the most knowledgeable, the strongest and the most educated members of the Trojanq’Jaren. The Dukh-Jaren was the absolute authority within the Kamhara. While the Trojanq’Jaren handled the vast majority of the day-to-day operations of the Kamhara, the Dukh-Jaren managed the two most important events in the Kamhara’o’Cetanu:
The first was the selection of the Quij’Jaren from the ranks of the Rundan. The Dukh-Jaren would ceremoniously offer up bound captives from Olq’Lungara’s to great fires. From the embers and ashes, the Dukh-Jaren would gain spiritual knowledge on whom to choose from the ranks of the Rundan to be inducted in to the ranks of the Quij’Jaren. This ritual occurred every few years.
The second, and by far the most important ritual in the Kamhara’o’Cetanu was the Nesq’Lar’oln’Cetanu. Every 10 years the Dukh-Jaren would hold an immense gathering of the entirety of the Kamhara. Mass sacrifices would be performed of the prey caught in Olq’Lungara’s. Through these sacrifices, and through much research and vetting of the greatest priests from the Yut’Jaren and the Trojanq’Jaren, a single member would be chosen. This member of the Kamhara, the Nesq’Lar, would be showered in countless spiritual ceremonies, honored in many feasts and adorned with the most prized and developed technologies of the martial arts, the Nesq’Lar would be ritualistically sacrificed. Once sacrificed, the Nesq’Lar would face off against Cetanu in a desperate battle to save all Yautja souls. Having prepared him for this journey through years of study and martial technique, it is the hope that one day the final Nesq’Lar will be chosen and Cetanu will finally be defeated. To become a Nesq’Lar is the ultimate goal for most, but not all members of the Kamhara’o’Cetanu.

“Wake up!” Rut-Il’Jan yelled! Krath slowly opened his eyes to find Rut, his Quij’Jaren brethren and classmate hovering over him. “If you don’t hurry up we’re going to be late. Today was the most important day in Krath’s life to date. Today he would be inducted in to his first Par Yuren (Religious hunting pack) and go off his first Olq’Lungara.
Krath had been chosen from the ranks of the Rundan at a young age. His family had toiled and sacrificed much within the Kamhara to see him get chosen to join the ranks of the Quij’Jaren. While it was never guaranteed that he would get chosen, the sacrifices and burdens to which his parents had given and endured didn’t hurt his chances any.
Krath had indeed been chosen at a tender young age. A group of Trojanq’Jaren priests anointed Krath as one of the year’s initiates in to the Quij’Jaren after the Dukh-Jaren had sifted through the embers and the flames of the ceremonial sacrifices. Since then Krath had endured a decade of rigorous and competitive education in the arts of war and of the mind, body and soul.
Krath, along with Rut-Il’Jan and Grek-misaren, the third member of his Par Yuren, made their way to the hanger in the Kamarah’o’Cetanu. Once there Krath and his two brothers were greeted by Rika Dorskq, a high priest within the Trojanq’Jaren that oversaw Olq’Lungara’s.
“Rut, Grek and Krath, you stand here today; ready to be inducted in to your Par Yuren. You have opted to undertake this quest so that you may one day have the opportunity of being chosen to be the next Nesq’Lar. What say you?” spoke Rika. “We give our bodies, our minds and our souls to the Kamhara. We give this so as to be able to defend against the Dark one, to save ourselves, our race and our souls from destruction. We willingly sacrifice all that we have known and done thus far, and ask that our clans and the Kamhara pray that we come back with notable and worthy sacrifices.” The trio chanted in unison. “Then so be it, by the authority given to me by the Dukh-Jaren, I hereby declare that this Par Yuren be assembled and deployed.” spoke Rika.
The trio made their way to the equipment room onboard the dropship that Rika had been given. Krath gathered his equipment, a bio mask, combi-stick, wrist gauntlets and a net launcher. Net launchers were standard issue on all Olq’Lungara’s, so as to be able to capture living souls so that they may be offered up in sacrifice.
“Krath”, Rut said, “Where is it that we will be deployed to do you think?”. “No idea”, Krath said. “This dropship is one of the medium sized variants in the Kamhara’s fleet, capable of interstellar flight without the need for one of the large Olq’Lungara mother ships.” Krath stated. “The preserves owned by the Kamhara are closely guarded secrets. However, I’ve done some asking around and searching through the databases, VM-89A is a likely candidate”, Grek said. “Getting your mandibles in to all sorts of trouble again I see, Grek”, Krath stated. “Discovering what is ahead of you on your travels is as important as the actions you take once you get to your destination”, Grek stated. “Pray that Rika does not find out you’ve been sneaking about in places you should not be”, Rut said in a sneering tone.
After the three had collected their equipment they made their way to the bridge of the ship. There, the three participated in a ritualistic sacrifice of several vart moles and a reef rat. Rika presided over the trio’s sacrifices. Once they were completed he spoke several long prayers and speeches, all related to the burden placed on the Kamhara to defend against Cetanu’s incursions.
After several days in hyperspace, the ship dropped out of hyper space and in to orbit around the planet of VM-89A. “Told you guys”, Grek said. VM-89A was a bleak looking and mountainous planet. The area to which the ship was headed was on the dark side of the planet. The Kamhara’o’Cetanu had obtained the right to hunt on this particular planet from the Council of Ancients. It had long since been seeded with a hive of serpents, which of course like any hive had its own Queen, though the trio would not be getting anywhere near the main hive.
The drop ship sat down in a deep valley located in the southern hemisphere of the planet. The three met with Rika at the bottom of the ship’s ramp. “You Quij’Jaren that are here today will be tested greatly on this venture. Do not look at the task ahead of you as some errand to be compelted, for it is far more important and dangerous than that.” Rika said. “The forces you will face here today are cold blooded killers. The serpents are not to be underestimated, understood?” Rika asked. “Yes!” the three exclaimed as they nodded. Krath, along with his brothers darted away from Rika and the ship with great enthusiasm. Krath was overjoyed having finally departed on his Par Yuren.
The three reached a cave system that was not far off from where they had landed. Krath’s indicator on his wrist bracelet came to life, notifying him that he and his brethren had reached a way point on their trek. The light from the entrance of the cave slowly dissipated until it left their view, forcing the three to adjust their bio masks accordingly. The cave system broke off in to half a dozen different independent systems. Krath, Grek and Rut all knew that they would be separating at this point, it would have been quite obvious to even the most simple layman that this was the intent of sending them down this path. Krath chose the eastern most system and bid his brothers farewell, giving them a nod a visual sign with his hands that was a common hand prayer in the Kamhara’o’Cetanu. He then ran off in to the system.
Krath traveled a great distance, encountering nothing for many hours. Finally, after maybe the 4th or 5th hour of his trip in to the system, he began hearing feint sounds in the distance as he came in to a clearing “tatttt” “tatttt” “tatttt”. Krath wondered what the sounds were. His biomask was not picking up any signatures, and he could not smell nor hear anything out of the ordinary. “tatttt” “tatttt” “tatttt”, the sounds were heard again, reverberating through the walls of the clearing. Krath had once hunted a small heard of Giri’jin Navel’s on an excursion when he was younger that made the most annoying of sounds. Their hooves would clank on the ground like a hammer on an anvil as they ran. This sound was not all that different from that.
As Krath entered further in to the clearing his foot came to rest on the edge of a hole that was maybe 15 feet deep. In the hole was a large number of decaying carcasses and skeletons, all of various creatures, though he couldn’t tell of what exactly. “Tatttt” “tattt” “tattt”, there was the sound again, except this time it had a partner. “tatttt” “tattt” “tattt” “tattt” “Tattt” “tatttt” “tatttt” tatttt”! Unnerved now, Krath began rapidly switching between the settings on his biomask, trying to find one that would show the source of the sound. As he was shifting through the settings on his mask he began seeing a visible line of smoke coming from the ground beneath him. Acid, the type which every Yautja knew came from the serpents, had fallen from the ceiling above him and landed on the ground, though he could not see anything there.
Suddenly, with a burst of speed, a serpent, one of the warrior varieties, lunged out at him from a crack in the wall next to the hole. He dodged the serpent, but just barely. As he dodged the serpent another one came crawling out of another crack, this one in the ceiling above him. It dropped down on him, slamming him to the ground. The rock, Krath now surmised, was made up of a type of ore that interfered with his biomasks ability to detect the creatures. The bodies in the pit were a nice distraction to. His natural senses were focused on the smell and sight of those bodies, so much so that he failed to interpret the obvious ambush. He wished he had heeded Rika’s warning now, instead of letting his mind wander off in to thoughts and dreams of glory, returning with a kill or two, and maybe, just maybe, a live sacrifice.
Krath struggled with the serpent, dodging its tail as it whipped it back and forth trying to impale him. Eventually he gained the upperhand on the situation and was able to throw the serpent off, smashing it up against a set of rocks. He quickly got to his feet and readied his combi-stick. Far quicker than he imagined the second serpent made a mad dash towards him. It threw itself on to him, though before it could land a hit he was able to impale it with his combi-stick through it’s abdomen. It was much heavier than he thought, so much so that he struggled to keep his combi-stick afloat.
As the serpent thrashed about it unleashed a violet volley with its tail, slashing at Krath and tearing open his right shoulder. Krath let out a loud yelp and dropped the stick. While in great pain he had no time to tend to his wound, he gathered his strength and brought his now deployed wristblade down on to the impaled serpents head, killing it and spraying it’s acidic blood about.
Just as quick as he had finished off the first serpent, the second serpent pounced at him, nailing him to the ground again. Krath had been through many training sessions back at the Kamhara that focused on grappling ground combat. While he was by no means a master, or even adept at the art, he had learnt enough to know that he to unbalance the creature use it’s weight against it. He quickly grappled with the creature and brought it close to his chest, he then rolled his hips and forced the serpent to abide by the direction to which its weight was going. He had succeeded in turning his foe on to his back; he now sat as the king the hill, so to speak. The serpent continued to lash out violently at him. While he was on top, he still had to contend with the serpent’s claws, mouth and tail, all of which he was actively avoiding or grappling with. He managed to bring one of his hands down on the serpent’s mouth, hitting it with such great force that he broke a number of its teeth out, spilling them out on to the cave floor. In a rage the serpent gathered its strength and threw Krath off and on to a nearby bed of jagged rock.
Once again Krath had been injured, this time he felt numerous punctures on his back, gained from the jagged rocks he had just been tossed upon. The serpent did not slow down, not even with half its teeth missing. It jumped at Krath so quickly he had barely been able to react, though react he had. Upon his armor was his net caster. He targeted the serpent as it jumped at him and fired! The net hit its target, enveloping the serpent whole. It then smashed in to the rocks just beside Krath.
The serpent screeched and howled until it was finally subdued by the massive amounts of pain brought on to it by the continuing restriction of the net. Krath got up and let out a massive roar. He went over to the dead serpent, plucked a claw off of it’s hand and began sketching the sigil of the Kamara’o’Cetanu, and that of his clan on to the top of his biomask. Again, Krath let out a massive roar in a proclamation of victory.
With the captured serpent in toe Krath made his way back to the coordinates given to him by Rika as a rendezvous point for when they had completed their Olq’Lungara. As Krath waited for Rika and the hopeful return of his brethren, for he was the first of the trio back, he prayed a while and tended to his wounds.
As daylight finally broke on his side of the planet he saw Rut decloak in front of him. On Ruk’s biomask was the sigil of the Kamhara’o’Cetanu and that of his clan. They met each other and gave each other various ceremonial body signs, acknowledging one another’s successes. As they did this they both heard a gigantic explosion come from within the mountains to where the cave systems were located. This explosion could only be one thing, it was Grek dying. The two said several prayers for Grek.
Sometime later, Rika’s ship de-cloaked above them and then set down in an open part of the valley not too far away. Rut and Krath made their way to the ship and were greeted by Rika, who embraced them both and congratulated them on their victories. The two sat down as Rika took a claw from the screeching captured serpent. He proceeded to engrave their barren forheads with the sigil of the Kamhara’o’Cetanu and then allowed them each to engrave their clans sigil’s on to their foreheads.
The three then set up an effigy structure a nearby clearing. They prayed, read from various spiritual articles and then they burned the serpent alive, offering it as a sacrifice to appease Cetanu, and allowing the Kamhara to gather it’s strength and organize itself so that it could one day again select a Nesq’Lar. While it wouldn’t be the next Nesq’Lar’oln’Cetanu, nor likely the one after that, Krath hoped that one day that he would be chosen as the next Nesq’Lar. For now though he would go back to the Kamhara’o’Cetanu and be inducted in to the ranks of the Yut’Jaren.
How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator)? I will play my Yautja as a member of his Kamhara (church) who is looking to obtain honor, knowledge and wisdom from the Olq'Lungara's (hunts) that he participates in. Members of the Kamhara'o'Cetanu sacrifice defeat opponents in an effort to appease and subsequently stave off Cetanu's advances. I would thus sacrifice defeated opponents while performing various IC ceremonies. My Yautja might be at odds with other Yautja IC, as his sect is ill-regarded. It is very much a sect that caters to the unblooded, and it's views on Cetanu are very much at odds with the rest of Yautja society. Maybe something akin to the Mormon's or JW's in Christianity. This does not mean he would be a rival to them. This difference would allow an opportunity for me to RP with my fellow Yautja and show off his Kamhara's views.
Why should we whitelist you? I have been around for a very long time. I am also a staff member, to which I am not trying to use as a one up, however, I do feel comfortable in saying it shows me as being trustworthy and vetted in the community to a degree. I am also on the CO whitelist.
Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? No
Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? No
Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor? Very much so. So yes.
