Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.
1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
Thanks! Have a CM day!
Any additional information you'd like to add?
Besides updating your questions? Add a plus and minus rating for your notes, since it's kinda hard to determine what the player's attitude and interaction were like during the incident by just a note. For instance, at the end of each note a +1, 0 -1, should be added. That way future staff members can determine how the player is by the enforcing staff members rating system.
Also the reason this is in acid goop is I know that it's not gonna go through lol~

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
► Show Spoiler
Since the MP has the individual detained, I do not need to add any OOC countermeasures on the individual in question such as sleep, or any staff abilities. I'll proceed to do an inspection of the individual, being their duration within the server, their prior notes, and their interactions when questioned about the situation. If the individual has a noted history, then I would proceed to get a statement from them with an added chance of a day ban or higher, depending on what their reasoning was for discharging their weapon and their interactions when questioned about the situation. If it was a simple misclick, then I would add a warning or just let it slide since it's already being handled ICly. Although It really depends on how the situation started~
► Show Spoiler
First off.. I'm gonna start freaking out since the outer hulls cannot be breached. Second I would check to see if anyone is online to correct the situation, in the event that there aren't any staff members online. I would notify anyone that is online on slack that has the power to correct the situation, and in the event that no one is online on slack, then proceed to cry and find some sort of means to contact any staff member that has the power to correct the situation. Although it's an IC issue.
► Show Spoiler
Notify a mentor, or whip the mentor to do their job... That or take one for the team and ask if the person needs help. Although if they ignore my PMs, then I would monitor them to see if they know the rules ingame. Since I find that new players, especially ones that don't respond to staff message are usually the ones to break the rules~
► Show Spoiler
I would check to see if any staff member with higher authority is online ingame and proceed to ask them to listen into the PM conversation through msay. Then proceed to notify the individual in question that a staff member of higher authority has been notified and that if they feel that my moderation was unjustified to file a staff report on me with the given evidence and log history.
► Show Spoiler
This one is a bit tricky. I would check to see their duration on the server, and their past notes to confirm if they have been using it for "several years" and that they're not lying. Although if it's a new player and it's not a noticeable clear violation of the name rule, then I would contact another staff member, or ask in Msay to see if it's alriight.
► Show Spoiler
That's an IC problem, although I would check their notes, and their interactions with the community during the round. Then proceed to grab a bucket of popcorn and observe what they do, because we all know they're up to no good
► Show Spoiler
You guys outta update your questions... In the event that I DO FIND a medic that has the ability to do surgery. I would quickly freeze them, contact all staff members on msay and slack. Proceed to tell the staff "We got a hacker in the midst". Then proceed to question the medic on how and why they were performing surgery~
► Show Spoiler
I would send the command staff a message from USMC High Command that the enemy is weak, and that if the marines do not engage them, then consequences would ensuite. After 10-20 minutes, if nothing has changed. Then I would contact a higher staff member on slack about the stagnation, or do my best to make it equally interesting on both sides with my given abilities.
► Show Spoiler
It's an IC problem~ Although, I would notify the person that was shooting to next time prevent themselves from shooting after the round has ended since it creates logs
► Show Spoiler
PM them, and depending if they still continue after I PMed them, then I would freeze them in place. Then proceed to tell them about our rule of round start bullshitery, and leave them with a warning. That's if they comply. If they do not comply, then I would add a 120-minute minute round ban and add on the notes that the individual was noncompliant.
► Show Spoiler
Notify the player that killed the other marine, that even though they punched them, it isn't justifiable for them to kill that individual. Proceed to check their notes for prior history. If no prior history has been found, then proceed in giving them a 3-day ban and a note. If prior history has been found, then a 7-day ban (Depending on the severity of the prior notes) or higher. The same is applied when they have a job position, although a bit more lenient (Depending if the Job Position gave them an edge on the situation)
► Show Spoiler
Notify a staff member on slack and depending on how bad the situation is, setup countermeasures to minimize the situation from increasing~
► Show Spoiler
Throw the freedom of speech book at them, or respond with "Being handle" autoresponse then proceed to do absolutely nothing about the situation. Giving the person that ahelped a glimmer of hope that a staff member is handling it, that way they don't cause a ruckus about it.
► Show Spoiler
Issue a 7-day ban, and then request a permanent ban, nothing much can be said about it. Since the player must know that to know your outcome, you must first understand your causality.
► Show Spoiler
I would make a side note about it, and proceed to watch and see if it happens again. If it does, then I would review their past notes and question the individual their reasoning for going onto the front line as a larva
► Show Spoiler
Eh.. so long as they don't spam it and make it a big nuisance, then I would do nothing. If they do make an annoyance of it, then I would PM them to quit their shit and add a note.
► Show Spoiler
Send the reporting individual the autoresponse "Being handled" then proceed to do nothing since the hivemind translation matrix translates what the Xenos are thinking about and that calling it a dropship isn't really a "metagaming or fail RP"
► Show Spoiler
Notify the command staff player that they should have no knowledge about the Xenos and that referencing about them is considered power gaming/meta-knowledge. Then add a note, and monitor their interactions afterwards. If they have a given note history about command positions and may consider a job ban on the position, depending on the severity of the past notes.
► Show Spoiler
Notify them that even if it was in an RP sense, it isn't justified to kill another marine for the evac pod. Then proceed to investigate the situation from both sides, and see if any witnesses want to testify on the defendant's behalf. Punishment would be added after the investigation.
► Show Spoiler
Notify the staff member in question about the wrong information, to give a more accurate answer. Monitor and collect evidence of the enforcement and eventually use the evidence on the staff member if ever a staff report has been issued by the player that the staff member enforced. If no report has been made, then contact staff members of higher authority in private about what has happened, and to monitor them also.
► Show Spoiler
Document the situation, and collect as much evidence as possible. I.e. screenshots, and recording. Then notify other staff members privately about what is taking place, and ask to see if they can be a witness and collect evidence on their side. Afterwards, notify a higher ranking staff member about what has occurred with the given evidence and staff witnesses.
Thanks! Have a CM day!
