Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Disable the ability for M41A rifles to fit into backpacks, but retain their ability to be put in Suit Slots.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
It will prevent powergaming of filling your backpack full of M4's, and its kinda realistic. SMGs and Pistols can fit in the satchel fine, but a two handed rifle? I don't think so.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Simply disable the ability for M41As to fit in backpacks.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
My main point is really that if you get knocked down or nested you will lose your weapon and then have to head back to sulaco, That's if you make It out without a RKO out of nowhere from a runner or warrior.

*COUGH*
Aliens have combat nesting, camping guards, melting backpacks or belts, how is this a problem when you despite having 1000 guns in backpack, only to have it all melted to nothing?
-1
It also i belive slows you down

Its a problem because it is Powergaming. And the M41A is pretty powerful to have a ton of rifles in reserve.

I can understand it being a problem but I feel like it would swing things heavily in favour of aliens but I could be wrong.HalfdeadKiller wrote:Its a problem because it is Powergaming. And the M41A is pretty powerful to have a ton of rifles in reserve.
Another problem is even if you remove the back pack as a way of carrying M4's people will just move on to smgs and so on.
One last thing is I can only carry it either via hand or backpack when wearing a trench coat which makes my life hell...
i'm fine with having One M4 to use jsut seems like it tips balance abit but I shall wait and see.

They may move to SMGs, sure, but SMGs are less of a threat than mutliple M4's in my opinion.

We should put M14As in suit storage. I always do that as a marine. No joke. Guns shouldn't be hiding in backpacks, nor would they fit with bunch of guns. This would be illogical senses.

Marines are not overpowered as it is I don't get the constant need for buffing of aliens and crippling of marines.
There is a worrying predisposition of making the game like mark henry sexual chocolate versus a bunch of mentally dificient guys and gals with lou gehrigs disease. If this were to be implemented then rebalance by making the aliens not click one button to win.

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
I can see why some want the rifles to be restricted to just the suit slots, however by doing so it limits the marines ability to continue fighting effectively once the have been diarmed just once. Every other weapon that would be able to fit in the backpack lacks the stopping power to be able to put up a decent fight againt an alien (bar the magnum but that only has 6 shots) and this is before you've been hugged and dragged into the hive. Without a secomd rifle the chances of being able to escape from a hive after being hugged is even lower than it already was with another rifle.
Even if some do powergame and some people decide to pack their backpack full o' guns, after the first escape attempt and its probable failure, any alien guarding them is more than capable of removing their back pack and melting it havimg only one of the many weapons inside it actually being taken out and used by the marine. I don't see the need to restrict how marines carry their rifles and think it would only put marines at a distinct disadvantage when both fighting aliens normally and whilst trying to escape from a hive.

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
I just think that its stupid from an RP perspective, and superbly annoying from an alien perspective. Aliens don't usually strip backpacks unless marines carry a crap ton of guns in them anyway. One -could- say that by removing the M41A from fitting in bags, one could improve the chances that aliens won't strip backpacks, but I don't know how that will hold up in gameplay.
Also, on the topic of this buffing aliens and nerfing marines... Marines, for the most part, are actually fine. They have a lot of tools at their disposal, they just don't use them effectively or use them as a team. Aliens aren't always one click wins. They are only one click wins against marines who do not work as a team. This is coming from playing mainly marine as well. But, this is a whoooole other discussion.
Also. As MrJJJ stated, if removing them fitting in backpacks doesn't work due to complaints or other things, perhaps make them slow down to wearing MP armor speed if they are carrying >3 M41A rifles in their backpack?

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
Power game from marines
-what was listed here
-throwing activated mines
-bringing energy gun for no reason
and some other stuff
Power game from aliens however is
-combat nests(imagine you just got tackled behind a corner, then suddenly, a nest is created and you put into it, and as we know how huuuuge amount of time it is to break out, it puts you out of the fight)
-power gaming nests (it's usually when they build seperate nests and surround them with a lot of walls, it's easy to just destroy they knifes and remove backpacks belts and not allow them to escape)
-melting backpacks and belts with flashlight (why the fuck would a xeno melt that? Marines are
Just unable to even escape, they just defenseless as fuck, don't even have to nest them, they will just never, ever escape, and you can only escape 2-3 times only)
-tackle spam (1 second away to get up? You get tackled back in, this is especially annoying with such castes as spitter, warrior and queen, because you have absolutely no chance to do anything as they pull you into nests with they
ridiculously huge tackle time and spam of it)
You were saying something?
And the more you carry things in your backpacks and belts and etc, the slower you are, you can even reach the speed of drone that way

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
Well..1 m14a in a backpack may seem...realistic,Mostly since maybe the stock of the rifle or the barrel is OUTSIDE of the backpack via an opening.
Also, when marines take their guns from their backpacks, they gave the xenos an advantage, the ability to remove ALL backpacks and storage containers

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
Uh, most people explained it already methinks. Having them only as suit slot would be useless for marines, and aliens can already remove backpacks from marines if they see any gun drawn from it like Jones said.

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
+1, how in the royal heck does it make sense to carry 7 twohanded assault rifles in a backpack? Marines are supposed to love their weapon, care for their weapon, not care for 7 of them. If you lose your rifle you take out your SMG or magnum which are just as fine weapons as the M41, or you keep a spare on your suit.
If you're being tackled by xenos, are you REALLY going to even use all those M41s? Is it even fair that you can effectively make being disarmed useless?
If you're carrying all those M41s because you run out of ammo a lot, fill those slots with god damned ammunition. As it stands, nobody bothers to carry ammo because it fits in the same slot as a fully-loaded M41!

Yeah, but how strong are 7 smgs compared to 7 m41as?As I have stated above they can just carry 7 Smgs instead
They have double damage and insane amount of brute damage if bayonet is attached. (It is stronger than the knife itself when attached)
We should probably allow them to carry 7 shotguns as well for that reason.

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
Definitely carrying 7 of anything is crazy, but at least one gun is feasible for a backpack, or 2 if some penalties are applied. 7 shotguns is just crazy.

Re: Disable M41A Rifle fitting in Backpack
-1 from a primarily xeno player here, I know that the marines need this little advantage when they get into battle, as warriors and sentinals can just slap that shit right outta your hands before you have time to do anything, and then push the line hard enough you don't have time to regather your weapons. Whilst it doesn't make sense to carry 7 rifles in a back pack, the point you have to examine is that You are discussing what is realistic in a game built around non-realism.
If you want fully realistic functionality, there are plenty of games built around that.

I say -1. I like playing both sides, but those extra guns are needed for when you get your shit slapped.

If you rlly wanted this we can just change the weight var to make it not be able to fit into backpacks as they have a item weight limit

this has probably been said but you literally have no reason to carry extra mags when you can stuff your backpack full of six rifles.
