CM Helmets
Summary + Benefits (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
I find it increasingly annoying when players immediately ditch their standard issued helmets for the first biohood they find lying around; not only does it look stupid and break immersion, but it also means that if you need a hardsuit helmet for EVA because some place has been depressurized, there aren't any. A good solution to this problem could be to buff the marine's helmets, but in a different way than helmets have been buffed in the past. Instead of increasing the amount of hits the marine's helmet can take before coming off, the helmet could come off in one hit same as normal, but not be destroyed. The marine helmet should be able to be put back on after a face hugger has pulled it off. This would keep players in uniform and add the benefits of not being bum rushed by xenos because they know the gorillameta-gaming tactic of rushing with huggers to destroy helmets won't work. On the flip side, it will put marines in a position where they will need to prioritize whether they want to be able to tank facehuggers or have a helmet that will last through combat. Ultimately this doesn't really give either side any real advantage because now the humans would be using helmets that can still be removed in a single hit rather than the 4-5 facehuggers it takes to remove a hardsuit helmet.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Essentially the marines are forced to make a choice between whether they want to be able to last longer on the station or fight harder for a short period of time; ultimately I believe that this will do little more than keep marines in uniform for longer.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
I'm not a code wiz or anything, so I'm not going to pretend I know how to work the code so that the helmet doesn't disappear, but I can offer an alternative to changing the helmet. Instead of modifying the helmet, you could make it so that when a facehugger pulls a marine's helmet off, it spawns a new one on the tile. I'm not sure if that's easier, but it is an alternative.

Marines shouldn't be taking bio suit helmets when they have their issued marine helmet.

Perhaps the solution here is not to revise how helmets are handled against aliens but rather design more assets for the marines to use to protect them against being hugged.
I noticed that it is possible for a marine to wield a knife using their knife slot. Would be awesome if this had a chance to prevent against facehugging and had a chance to kill the facehugger.
I've been thinking about the ability for a marine to "fasten" their helmet to make it harder for marines to remove their helmet and to slightly fortify themselves against facehuggers. Marines could unfasten them by dealing damage to the Marine's head or by attempting to remove the helmet, having a timer similar to removing handcuffs for unfastening.

ACTUALLY hilarious enough>
Biohoods/bomb hoods are no longer very resistant to huggers. In fact, recently, I debuffed ALL helmet resistances to huggers.

None the less, the fact that these helmets that withstand bullets are completely shredded by a single facehugger is baffling, it would make sense for them to be reusable.

Riot Helmets drop when torn off, but are destroyed after the second hugger. Perhaps implement that somehow?

Re: CM Helmets
Dropped helmets are a good idea. When I first started I was really confused because there isn't even a message prompt to explain. However, the helmet dropping would allow longevity without really buffing them for a single encounter. So +1 to that.
Also, if there could be a way to determine how damaged the item is, that would be swell

Hilarious enough, Biohoods offer only one additional hugger stop.

Re: CM Helmets
Bumping this, CM helmets should NOT be destroyed by facehuggers, it's very annoying and makes no sense, furthermore, the only reason it'd give xenos an advantage is because some players are TOO LAZY to go get another one. Either way, I'd like to see CM helmets be more durable against facehuggers than the tin foil hat I make when I'm pretending to be a spess mareen.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

I would like to see the helmets be indestructible, but fall to the ground with every face hugger that hits you. Would remove a Marine's excuse to grab a hardsuit helmet or bomb hood, while at the same time allowing for active hugger infection attempts to work (through hugger slapping or throwing aliens at marines) while not leaving a marine completely defenseless after the first hugger. Aliens go far and wide to hide huggers, under nests, tables and debris. Huggers should be forced to the stop of a stack like mobs.

mfw Ripley could stop a hugger from attaching for over a minute for others to come and kill it, but we're the movie's redshirts and no amount of face protection will help us.

Old, there's been a helmet rebalance since this was made.
