Buffs to the Tier 3 Aliens
After playing a few games as an Alien on your servers, I believe that some of the Tier 3 Aliens are very, very weak. Considering how long it can take to simply become one, just to be greeted by an average, or simply worse(looking at you Ravager) version of the previous form. I sincerely hope that you care to listen to me on this request.
I honestly think your server has a very good community, and I respect your admins greatly. The coding for this is very, very well done. Your implementations however have left me wanting more. I simply want all of the tiered forms to be viable in many situations, rather than just forcing us into one specific Alien over ones that are meant to be good, just to fall short.
Out of the main Tier three Aliens, the Hivelord, the Ravager, and the Praetorian, I believe they all could get away with being made a bit stronger. Losing the ability to crawl through vents is a huge hit to the potential of them, so they really should be implemented in a way that represents their looks.
The Ravagers:
"The Ultimate Killing Machine"
It really does not live up to it's namesake. My suggestions for this lil' devil(more like giant) would be to make his charge a sort of positioning based thing. Make it a stun that will knock down whoever he hits, yet balance it out with a large plasma cost and or an actual cooldown, or waiting time on it. Make him charge to a person in question, knocking down anyone else who is between him and his target. This way it will make this ability more of a set up for the Praetorian's long range fire and the Warrior's along with the Queen's stunning roar.
And about the Ravager's infinite roars when he is on fire, that is the one good thing you did. Ravagers are meant to be the ultimate frontline, make it feel like it.
The Praetorians:
"The Good Ones"
This is probably the strongest Tier three besides the Queen. They still could do with some upgrades if I'm being honest. The Alien's lack any form of genuine AoE(Area of Effect) crowd control besides the Queen's scream, and without a good crew behind her that is useless. If I want the Ravager to feel like a Tank, I want the Praetorian to feel like a Sniper. Give their toxins a high chance to kill someone if it collides, or atleast a high chance to put them in crit. Perhaps it could be a form of toxin where it simply subdues someone for long periods of time, as to preserve them for making more Aliens. I would be alright if you left the Praetorian's as they are for balance sake, but just keep these changes in mind.
The Hivelords:
"The Supports"
The Hivelords definately need something to assist their allies in combat. My idea was that the Hivelord could place a new kind of weed(actual purple ones perhaps?), these weeds would provide the same amounts of plasma, but give double the health regeneration. Health can be a hassle to regen, even with the normal weeds. And another idea is that maybe you could make it so that Hivelord's give double the plasma when tranfering(not to eachother and or Queens, only to Ravagers and Praetorians), that way the Hivelords would be able to not only make amazing nests, but they would be an amzing support tool for a plasma hungry Praetorian.
I may decide to come up with better changes, but these are my ideas for now. I know it definately needs tweaking, but please try to think about my changes, especailly to the Ravager, lord knows they need it.

The problem is, it's really hard to come up with buffs to the side that should never, ever kill the other one... Unless we make Ravager and Praetorian evolution available only after the queen gives the kill order, and make it a part of the interface instead of ":a Okay, you can kill". Because they suck at capturing and becoming one before the hive is in danger or Sulaco is boarded is a very bad thing.

That is why a majority of my requested changes involves crowd control. Not really killing. The Ravager Charge Stun could set up for some hunters to swoop in and collect the incapaciated enemies, same with the Praetorians putting people in either an incapacitated state, nuerotoxin, or crit.Derpislav wrote:The problem is, it's really hard to come up with buffs to the side that should never, ever kill the other one... Uhm, wouldn't marines being incapacitated and captured basically the same as being killed?

Perhaps, but as far as I can see is that as long as people do not line up, the Ravager cannot utilize his charge to the fullest. Not to mention that since Warrior's and Runner's already have their pounce, I don't see why their strongest asset would be made useless with it's so called 'upgrade' into the Ravager. I want the combat for each side to be able to be counteracted and able to be utilized to it's fullest when possible. The Ravager would be a change from the Warrior so that rather than being a single target ambusher, his job would now be a multi target crowd controller. I believe the Praetorians could stay the same, as I've stated before. But the Ravager clearly needs something besides just his practically useless charge, and very situational interaction with flamethrowers.

Re: Buffs to the Tier 3 Aliens
Praetorian and Hivelord aren't meant for attacking.
Hivelord is a tier that constructs hardened resins. It's a defensive type.
Praetorian has a powerful spit acid. He's essentially a support or defensive.

I guess I play a bit too many MOBAs to he making suggestions about a game like this. Hehe.UnknownMurder wrote:Praetorian and Hivelord aren't meant for attacking.

But I really feel like Ravagers, if anyone, need a buff the hardest. Removing their ability to pounce for a useless charge and a minor bonus to range is not that much, can you at least see where I'm coming from there?

I can see that you want Ravager to be a big challenge to deal with for marines.
Like Sephiroth from FFVII, like Revolver Ocelot from MGS4.

Re: Buffs to the Tier 3 Aliens
My best way too see it is that the Ravager is the true Alien people fear. Maybe limit it so that only one or two can be available depending on how many people are on each side. To balance this out, make the Ravager literal beast. Give him my charge idea, maybe nerf or tweak it in a better way, but make him a crowd fight. Give him the ability to 1v2 and still have some chance. Give him large amounts of health, immunity to fire, but in return make his charge cost large amounts of plasma to use, and make it knock down enemies, or something of the sort. At least make it do something besides reposition. Perhaps allow him to roar in some situations(I.e. dead queen or low health). I am sure you guys could think of something to make him more than just a meat shield for fire.UnknownMurder wrote:I can see that you want Ravager to be a big challenge to deal with for marines.

Re: Buffs to the Tier 3 Aliens
This is not a MOBA or MMO... They aliens lack things like "AOE" because their primary engagement shouldn't be AOE suppression.
Ravagers will be getting a revamp eventually, once we've got new sprites for them.

Re: Buffs to the Tier 3 Aliens
We can make it so that when the Ravager charges towards a wall, the same sound effect and hit effect when a Hulk punches the wall happens. There's a chance the wall will get destroyed, but if it doesn't then the sprite will change into a damaged wall. As for the charging towards humans thing... We can make it so that the charge affects a random number of marines between 2 - 4 and they get knocked down and knocked back a few tiles randomly from where they were standing and if they collide with a wall or glass then they receive additional damage or something... I did try to charge a marine and he got pushed back to a window, like he actually got bashed towards it. But I don't know if he received any damage.

Let's be honest as well, AoE attacks in SS13 are pretty annoying...apophis775 wrote:This is not a MOBA or MMO... They aliens lack things like "AOE" because their primary engagement shouldn't be AOE suppression.
