Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):Fix Survivor

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): survivor sucks worse then ever right now, we should fix that

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): so i was just playing colonial marines and for the first time in a long while i'd gotten survivor, as it had been my favorite role back when i actually played this game i was stoked for the unique roleplay opportunities, then i got to experience the actual CHANGES that have been made to survivor since you guys became an independent server and "Opportunity" is not the word i would use.

i see that survivors starting with job outfits and ID's is now gone, i cant imagine WHY this would be done but i suppose it can add a layer of depth to the game, i also see that in spite of being told by several admins that donators still have their donation gear as survivor, that also was not true but i suppose from a balance perspective i can understand it would be weird for colonial marines to just run into the fucking doomguy onboard a space station, hard to roleplay THAT out very well i mean, try just passing yourself off as the ships cook when your in doomguy armor, "oh yeahhh....that thing about hell....yeah that was a long time ago i havent done the whole, rip and tear thing in awhile"

of course the ship now also starts with almost all the lights broken by default so the aliens dont have to go through the trouble of smashing them, and survivors dont spawn with either their PDA or a flashlight or anything.

so you cant even navigate the fucking HALLWAYS, you cant go hide in a locker or anything because that would require you being able to actually SEE the locker, that would require you being aware of whether or not you are trying to walk through a door that is just broken or whether that is actually a wall, you get a GIGANTIC BLACK SCREEN.

so of course when the alien drone managed to catch up to me, because i couldn't SEE THE FUCKING DOORWAY i was completely incapable of walking FIVE FEET (even though prettymuch every government building since we went to the moon has a gigantic glow in the dark EXIT SIGN near EVERY FUCKING DOORWAY in real life) i didn't even know he had sealed the exit with a resin wall until five minutes after i was captured.

well shit

i suppose i could try to escape but lo and behold i SUCCEEDED, the problem is that i was not even AWARE of that fact because that would require you actually be able to SEE YOUR SURROUNDINGS, the drone was able to catch up to me and even though the doors (he of course immediately surrounded me completely with resin walls and doors) were COMPLETELY OPEN i couldn't see them, because that would imply we actually spawned with a light source, when your nerfs render someone incapable of playing the game, incapable of even SEEING the fucking game, reducing it completely to one gigantic black screen i cant help but feel that this is doing anything to improve roleplay or atmosphere, thats encouraging us to go play a game we can actually PLAY.

i mean seriously? i know you dont want the survivors to win before the marines even get there but what the fuck? you may as well take them out of the game at this point, taking their starting backpacks and making them forage is one thing but not even being able to NAVIGATE THE HALLWAYS?! throw them a fucking bone seriously, and dont gimme some bullshit that you cant give survivors their starting job and relevant outfit (because wouldn't ya know a PDA light would totally have reversed this entire situation) because it would be too hard to code because it was ALREADY CODED IN, YOU TOOK IT OUT FOR REASONS UNKNOWN.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): just put back in whatever code you took out or give them a starting backpack or bag of some kind with some bare essentials, ANY kind of a light source, a flashlight? pda? even a box of candles and some matches, i mean that could at least be kind of cool and immersive, guess how many places have lights onboard as of right now?

security and tech storage, that is ALL, you cant use welders as a weak light source and even if you could GET a lighter they dont double as one either (not to mention getting one implies you have an ID you can use to buy one, or that you can hack the machines to vend a zippo, but if you could hack the machines at all odds are good you have something that enables you to see, enabling you to actually PLAY THE GAME)

Also, the starting in crit thing is a little bit shit, in my opinion.

Once had to kill a drone when I was in the bar, I was lucky to have a welder and murder him, otherwise I be dead
Then the other time, had 2 drones attack me, had nothing but shit tons of tools and a hazard vest, they put weeds so I won't kill them but I down 1 anyway, the other IMMIDEATLEY starts to slash me to death...

Just head into maint and smash into walls randomly, after some time you'll find a flashlight or optical meson scanner. Also, the lighter DOES double as a light source. One is in Arrivals.

Holy fuck, I AGREE! I once just spawned in the whole area where you get clothes and personal lockers are, I found another survival, and we quickly hid in the lockers due to the pitch darkness and 'metamorphs' coming our way. One drone/sentinel came there, and was scooping around, after a while he left.

We barely found any fucking clothing, let alone light or a "hostile" tool, to our luck, we were near the Security Checkpoint.

just spawn survivors with a flashlight and clothes for a pocket space to put the light in
and maybe full health? I'm sure it's annoying for them when they run from a drone and get faint/sluggish out of nowhere lol

There's one area near arrivals where you can secure clothing and book bags, but to get the bags you need ID's and such, which you don't have unless you expose yourself by breaking into the HoP office. Starting people off with at least basic ID's perhaps with access to random sectors (a security ID, or a captains ID) would allow for a much better RP experience on a whole and make playing as survivor more fun. Also spawning the survivors with flashlights would work better than PDA's because right now PDA's can see everyone's role in the game.

Or, If you really want survivors to spawn "hurt", just spawn them with a minor common cold or nausea, since they just went through a living hell to 'survive'.
