Surgery bug

Post by Balcaam » 02 Jun 2015, 03:55

Bug Description:I was operating on a patient, with help intent, the right area selected, and it was the first step. Instead of saying the usual note, I attacked her with the scalpel. I know I closed her up when I operated on her last, so it shouldn't have happened. Thank you for your time.

Steps to reproduce:
1.When I operated on her last (embryo removal). I might have cracked her ribs and ruptured her lung, which never happened before.
2.I vividly remember cauterizing her up. So, not sure what went wrong.
3. And I targeted her chest, with help intent, and used the scalpel on her, but no dice.

Not sure if this helps, but thanks anyway.

Surgery on Colonial Marines has been witnessed to have experienced a variety of... anomalies... as of recently, one of the most noticeable ones is unexplainable yet extensive internal damage resulting in death during surgery with no messages or warning to the surgeon that any such damage is occurring.

As for this particular bug, I recall a Bay making a fix for this well over a year ago. Since Colonial is running on an older version of Bay, it's going to take a while to track down and fix. If you get the chance, try to reproduce this bug and save the log with notes of everything you do, step-by-step!

There is a bug if you for example, spam 5 times on the head to remove a brain, you get 5 brains of the same person

Do you have any logs? Screenshots really help.

If you would permaban a player, you owe it to him to look into his logs and hear his side of the story. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the player does not deserve to be banned.

BRAIN BURGERS FOR EVERYONE! Except you Timmy. We need your brains.

It is my understanding that Surgery is just horribly bugged because of how outdated our code is. At this point, ahelping it will usually get your surgery victim patient ahealed and life goes on.

Things I've noticed, that while some are not bugs, are not outlined in the wiki.

Internal Injuries (Lungs, Kidney, Liver and Heart) are healed with a Scalpel, not an Advanced Brute Pack.

Cauterization can pretty much be done when ever you feel like it, but if the surgery wasn't complete you can finish the procedure through the surgery (I cauterized a head surgery when I thought the brain repair bugged out. When I went to cut him back open it said I was starting to cut his brain out.)

If it ever tells you that you set the bone back in the wrong place, it's because the bone was never broken to begin with, such as a chest surgery needs to be shut with retractors. Glue it, Set it and Glue it again to fix the damage.

Also, if a person has organ damage/burster inside them AND a fractured chest, apply the bone gel twice in a row after bending the ribcage back with the retractors, it will go into bone repair after sealing up the chest surgery. (I.E. heal the organs/remove the burster. Use retractors to bend the ribs, glue them together. Then glue the broken bits, set them and glue them a final time before cauterizing)

Alkysine is easier and faster to make than brain surgery, but can only heal so much in a short span before it starts to overdose. If a marine has less than 50% brain damage, just give them 10u increments of Alk until they are fine. If they have more than 50%, cut them open and pull the bone chips out and fix the hematoma.

Unfortunately I don't have any logs. Probably would have been simpler if I did.

This should resolve itself when we move to the new, big Bay update. Just have a little patience and all should be well soon.
