Ban Appeal 6/7/2015 pablogoogle

Post by pablogoogle » 07 Jun 2015, 22:42

Beyond ID: Pablogoogle

Admin who banned you: Mod- Juninho

Initial Duration: 30 hours

Duration Remaining: ? 29 Hours

Reason for Ban: "Exposed engineering to space and created a vacuum. Was banned after General Rule 9."

My Appeal: I will begin by explaining the events that lead up to this situation. The Sulaco commander had my squad, Bravo Squad, start the engine on the Nostromo. We made it down with no trouble and broke into engineering after receiving many shocks from hacking doors and breaking grilles. Every thing was going great until we figured that someone had to go outside to start the emitters and shield generators. I volunteered and donned the CE's hard suit while one of my comrades gave me an RCD to break past the airlocks start up the emitters then get back in and rebuild an airlock. I had rarely used an RCD in the past so I did not know how much matter each deconstruction used so I figured I would deconstruct both airlocks setup the emitters( takes like 5 seconds to run around and turn everything on.). My plan B was to construct a grille using spare metal if I ran out of RCD matter after using it on deconstruction. After coming back inside a fellow marine held me at gunpoint and did not let me fix the airlocks with the 10 remaining matter I had. After 2 to 3 minutes I went to go fix up the airlock because I knew by this point a lot on atmosphere had begun to leak out. My fellow marine shot me 3-4 times and I was seriously injured considering the hard suit provided little protection thus I could not go repair the airlocks as I had intended. At this point Juninho began to PM me about the atmosphere and I tired to explain myself however I was promptly banned before I could justify my intentions. Juninho disregarded my evidence quite rudely as shown here:

"Bullshit. There is a near-vacuum in engineering. Could have been worse if I hadn't fixed it."- Juninho

I know I broke the rules and for that I'm sorry, but the purpose of the rules is to make the game fair for everyone and stop exploiters. I clearly wasn't an exploiter and by banning me for a small almost insignificant breach this makes the rules work as instruments of unfairness not instruments of fairness as they are intended to be. The mod also told me to hack the doors, however I had already received many grievous shocks and thought it would be best to use the RCD to save time avoid injury. In conclusion such ruthless application of the rules serves only to inhibit fun especially when the breach of the rules
Off Topic
pun intended
was so minor. (almost no atmos would have been lost if the other marine did not hold me up.)

I have done some looking around in logs and I just realized how quickly this conversation was and to top it off you seemed more than compliant, By sounds of things it was a accident, Granted, You will be unbanned momentarily and any notes given to you for this event shall be wiped as well.
This will be moved in approximately 24 hours

Thank you for being understanding with my appeal and I promise I will be less rash with the rules in the future.
