New Event: Doom!

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Basically, a reversal on Alien: Isolation. Emulating Doom, or perhaps something similarly popular, pit one badass marine against every other player as a aliens!

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): A variety in events! It should be easy enough, since we already have the reverse.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Maybe sprite some gear, call him Doomguy, or since the armor is taken, maybe make him Duke Nukem, the Quake guy, or anything similar. Give him a mask that is near immune to huggers, some badass guns, and extra health or something. By having all other players be aliens, the odds are basically as even as an Isolation round. Disable spawning for marines to ensure he's the FPS hero we need to stop the alien scum! Also, playing the Doom soundtrack as a midi is a MUST!

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Shouldn't be too hard for an admin to work on this.

Well, I'm not too keen on the fact of there only being one marine, as I don't particularly enjoy alien.

How would you go about marine selecting so no one who is absolute trash at combat like me gets selected?

The same way you make sure someone absolutely trash at combat doesn't get traitor, cult, rev, op, ert, mutiny head, abductor, xeno, death commando, changeling, shadowling or vox. By having that person not have 'Be Doom Marine' switched to 'YES.'

Shit I thought this was a gamemode suggestion. 10/10 reading comprehension. In that case pick a robust marine from the round before I guess, or have ghosts do a quick thunderdome and see who doesn't die instantly.

-1 We already have a donator with DOOM armor and not to mention we would need their approval in usage of it. Not to only point that out but it does not matter how good you are or how OP your gear is. 15 aliens can kill a HIT who is pretty much MEANT to win.

This is a event idea meaning if we ever even wanted to attempt to remove the spit and tackles than aliens would have to all be drones, And lets face it. One drone can barely kill a survivor. To be honest this whole event idea is just someone who is thinking in the present and not on how it would REALLY effect the server

Bullshit. Bayliens are bugged to all fuck which makes them ridiculously powerful. If you hardcrit a Baylien, it'll heal after a few seconds and get up fully invincible, unless they finally got around to patching that.

I heard about the donator with Doom armor, which is why I suggested the tons of other spess muhreen game icons to choose from. Modifying said marine to be immune to certain things would allow for said marine to stand a chance. It shouldn't be much harder than Isolation, as I said.

It would be MUCH harder than isolation and its purely ONE SIDED its meant so both sides have a chance, This is NOT going to be a good event, Take it from someone who used to run events all the time.

Every event is one-sided. Empress is only a boon to aliens, Isolation leaves a lot of players out of the loop, Spooky rounds make blackouts for the marines, most made-up ones break down to "kill the marines with something we just came up with", and Thunderdome is just two teams robusting with what the admins feel like. The only one that isn't unbalanced is Objectives, which I haven't seen in quite a long while. I don't think any event will ever be truly balanced, but it shakes things up, and after the round, everything's wiped clean anyways. The point of events isn't for balance, but to add some excitement from what is otherwise the same round setup every round.

It does not matter, I can tell you from experience this event will make us loose players the round it takes place in as ONLY one player (Probably staff) Would be the Doom guy which is unfair for players in general. And not to mention this would be SUPER short which is something we don't need.

And only one player may be the Isolation alien, but we still have it, of course. This is an ideal event for those wee hours in the morning when only about five to twenty players are online anyways.

It won't matter, Isolation is something that anyone can be. Doom guy would have to be a experienced player, Not to mention isolation could stay up for a hour or two. This would probably only be thirty minutes long after working for about 10-20 minutse to get it set up

Not if Doomguy had the right stats. And aliens are fully capable of evasive maneuvers, if not moreso than marines are. I don't see why this wouldn't be able to be extended, outside of maybe the hive, which would be wholly unnecessary since there'd be no marines to infect.

Regardless. Neither me or Unknown will be running this event if its accepted. I doubt Apop or Rah would either, Its something that probably will not happen on this server. That is just the truth, Not to mention that Isolation ALWAYS went terribly wrong and we lost players

Well, it's something to keep in mind with future admins, then. I'm just trying to come up with suggestions for new events, and other players when I posited this idea last night said they liked the idea in OOC.

Doom is very scifi. In the third game, you're a marine on Mars. It's as scifi as Aliens is.

In my opinion i'm not a huge fan of this idea due to there only going to be one marine vs alot of aliens, i can maybe see this working with a low pop on the server but a high pop.. eh... i think would probably annoy some people.The isolation event caused everyone to complain afterwards so.. that was never fun for the admin team or the players so it was scraped.

i'm gonna throw a idea out there.. of.. a last stand scenario maybe..
