Silentium's Spriter Application
Byond ID: Silentium
Age: 17
Gender: Male
How would you define yourself? (Coder, Mapper, Spriter): Spriter
If Coder, what languages?
Any previous experience developing with SS13? Random stuff for major/minor russian builds, tried multiple times to develop my own build, but got lazy.
Proof of any previous or current work:
How well do you know Git? I was working with BitBucket and SourceTree app, and I don't think Github will be any harder. Yet, I'd prefer to send my work via email.
Your primary job is server development, not policing the server. You may be given Moderator-level of access but you should *not* be invoking any administrative actions unless there are no moderators or Admins online. Do you understand? (Yes/No) Whatever, I'm not asking for access or something.
Anything else you'd like to add? Bananas!

You did a nice job with those icons.
+1 if you still don't want mod access.

I like his Tommy Gun or Gangster Gun and Pump shotgun. Unsure what the character is supposed to look like but you seem fairly new judging on your application.

Sprite me some dense jungle wall sprites. Trees, shrubs, don't care, be creative. If I like them then you get my +1.

Krieg soldier from Warhammer, but you may call it anything, because it was my early job and it's kind of shitty xDUnknownMurder wrote:Unsure what the character is supposed to look like but you seem fairly new judging on your application.
I'm not new with spriting, but kinda new on this server and definitely new on this forum.

I'd like to have this guy! He actually makes sprites and they're pretty damn good too.

Re: Silentium's Spriter Application
The jungle sprite looks meh. Not really an improvement over what we have already.
+1 I guess, I see some potential.

Then it would be wise to show me what you already have, wouldn't it? Can't improve something blindly.Abbysynth wrote:Not really an improvement over what we have already.

Re: Silentium's Spriter Application
That's fair.
The texture she's asking you to improve is the light green "grass-wall" seen on the LV-624 map here:
http://i.imgur.com/g51bWvK.jpg
Here's a close-up:
The issue is that, in the map, the walkable grass is darker and the impassable wall is lighter, causing a visual conflict as lighter grass tends to be the type of grass that people walk on as opposed to the darker kind.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a much darker (almost black) kind of thorny, viney, nasty-looking plant life would make for a better visual wall. We want people to go "Oh, I probably can't walk through that."
Hope that helps.

Re: Silentium's Spriter Application
Actually, that icon was made as a transition sprite. It was never really meant to be a wall.Rahlzel wrote:That's fair.

The impassable wall was supposed to be a mass of thorns, trees and vines. I created that tile to edge around the wall to transition from "clean" forest to messy thick brush.

Another try:
Looks more like hedgerow, but if it won't fit you I know how to fix that.

It doesn't look like it can be tiled to itself, but the icon looks nice.

He's since disappeared. I haven't heard from him lately which is a shame. I've sent him two PMs, but he hasn't responded.
