Queen Evolution

CM Version (alpha or Regular): Any server, really. (probably alpha)

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Add an evolution to the Queen, like Empress or something. Make it so it takes REALLY long, so it's not overpowered.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It will add a punishment for marines taking too long to kill the Queen, as the Queen will become much stronger, essentially making it a game over situation if the Marines sit back in the Sulaco and defend.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Evolution would take about 60 minutes or longer, and if the Queen dies they obviously have to restart the whole process. Empress would be super alien, with lots of powers, I'll leave that to the devs.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): N/A

I almost want to +1 this because I'm so godamn tired of seeing ~30 humans and ~12 aliens but the marines are turtling back at the Sulaco.

Seriously, there needs to be a punishment for marines turtling way too early.

Doesn't have really a reason to exist unless other Queens are on the area, and that would mean xenos were at war for terrority with each other. No.

Because nobody is sure that the queen evolution is the solution to the problem at hand but it -might- work.

Marines already get punished for stalling at the FOB, having to deal with a thousand of ravagers and praetorians.

The problem i see with this, is that Icly the marines wouldn't know the queen would evolve at said time unless CC made an announcement saying " there has been a abnormal sign of growth detected please ensure it doesn't continue" etc..

And the fact that in the Alpha aliens can chop off your limbs easily.. so maybe for the current version this would work but not for the Alpha.

Why would it not have a reason to exist without other Queens? What logic is that?

Also, just recently the Queen was actually nerfed (or is to be nerfed, not sure) because of the bullshit armor and spammable screech. It'd fuck the balance as a Queen surviving for one hour to evolve would not be hard at all.

Lore aside, we don't have to stay EXACTLY to it, just because the Queen has to kill other Queens to become an empress, doesn't really mean she has to do it ingame.

And the Queen doesn't have bullshit armor and spammable screech... At least I don't think, I just played her a few rounds ago on the main and the screech intervals were huge, plus the armor was kinda shit.

Another point is, good explosives or high caliber weapons are very limited. I don't know how you would kill such thing without getting massively raped before landing any significant damage to its armour that would most likely surpass all tier 3 (including Queen herself)

Weapons could be coded, either way. She's supposed to be OP, an hour of waiting doesn't mean you get to get 1hit.

According to the sources, on one server...
There was a empress, she had 1000 health and 1000 plasma, both regens fast, she has the best tackle (90% chance or so and it lasts 9-14 byond secs) and easily dealt 20 or 30 more damage then ravager, had same speed as queen, could spray poly acid around her for a few tiles, able to screech so hard, you would not just get frozen and drop your weapons or get downed, YOU WOULD LOSE CONSCIOUSNESS FOR 30 SECS

So yea, not sure where was this empress, but she was Preety op and huge

Empress already exists in the code, all that needs to be done to implement this is give the queen an evolve verb. Not sure if this will balance anything but sure, I'd like to see this eventually. 1+

good idea. an evolution to make the queen stronger is a great idea. However. it shouldn't make the queen godly strong. i however believe her plasma generation rate should double with this. as well as her storage doubling. giving her strong acid. as well as acid spit. and a increased health pool no more than double current health. these would make her much much stronger but still not godly. it should also take an hour/ hour and a half. for her to make this evolution. and she must stay still for 5-10 minitues while she undergoes this evolution putting herself at risk in this.

has to be more than a minute. otherwise it would be pointless because queens should be afraind and in danger for getting such a strong evolution.

I think it's a good idea for a queen that has stayed alive for a long time. Most rounds will have 2 or 3 queens, so for a queen to live long enough to evolve would be quite the accomplishment. Something like 30 or 45 minutes.

I think this encourages alien turtling more than it discourages marine camping, which is bad.

It can be easier for aliens to turtle and wait for the marines to attack them. The aliens are way stronger in their hive than they are outside of it. We once defeated a wave of like 7 marines with 6 of us in the hive in Xenobiology, a careful bloody struggle that would have been lost if the queen was disabled.

The long, slow queen evolution stasis period would also require the aliens be on their guard during it in case the hive comes under attack, and the centcom message "We are detecting a massive buildup of biomass" would prmpt an assault.
