DEEZ JEEPS

CM Version: ALPHA

Summary: Jeeps and wheels, for traversing the inhospitable jungle terrain with relative ease, because driving the fucking cargo tug won't cut it. To balance it out, the vehicles should be unarmored and unarmed (save for any occupants carrying weapons), and they should require the constant usage of plasma tanks to keep them running. In addition to the vehicles being somewhat weak to balance out their speed, Ravagers should be given a slight speed boost, so that they can be an effective rival for a squad of Marines in a jeep.

Benefits: With vehicles, you have added a whole new degree of awesomeness to CM, as there's nothing cooler than a Jurassic Park-type chase between a Jeep and a Ravager.

Details: The mobility for the Marines would be the best advantage, as is the fact that 4 Marines in a single vehicle combining small arms fire would be devastating for any Xeno. To balance out the obviously unfair advantage, the vehicle should be somewhat vulnerable to attacks and objects, perhaps damaged if the driver crashes into a stationary object, or only able to take around 10 or so slashes from a Drone. The Ravager's charge could also do additional damage, and even knock the Marines from the vehicle. In addition to that, the vehicle should also rely on plasma tanks as a fuel source and guzzle said plasma prodigiously, requiring the occupants to keep said vehicle full of plasma. Lastly, the vehicles should require the usage of a key, which must be searched for in nearby buildings.

Implementation: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=2522 <- A fellow has begun work on sprites. The vehicles should only number 2-3, and spawn in different locations around the colony. The keys (specific for each jeep) should spawn in nearby buildings.

APC is in the game already, but not functional yet. I think this is a planned feature.

I've discussed something similar to this with the idea of about one quad bike per squad for a new role if possible........

Also couldn't we, well to make things easier just re-sprite the cargo tug to whatever vehicle you want then just change the speed to what would be suitable for said vehicle ?

A good idea, though I think it would be awesome if it could hold multiple people. On Goon, the clown car could hold more than one person.

Regardless, the APC wouldn't be very effective unless you were in a more expansive area. Thanks to the dense jungle walls, the aliens could flank the APC and tear that fucker up. The jeeps would be much more maneuverable through the terrain. I could however see the APC being effective when assaulting Xeno fortifications positioned on the exterior of the caves.

Jeeps don't really line up with the playstyle of marines at all. Jeeps basically encourage very small groups of marines to go flying around the map driveby-ing aliens.

It would basically break up squads and encourage some absurd messy ramboing.

What Joshuu said. Marines have to stick together and I don't see this being very good for our lore seeing as marines are a team and need to stay together to stay alive. This takes away that purpose

Have a Quad Bike? There's already a vehicle you can operate on Alpha. Yet, it's becoming Grand Theft Auto.

I just witnessed Apophis stealing a cargo train as Predator by shoving a marine off and driving off without killing his prey... (Or did he run him over?)

I like this idea, as long as the sprite is obvious and it's loud.
