Predetor system/initnation
CM Version (alpha or Regular): Alpha
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Reworking/expanding the predator system to encompass more.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It would make predators a way more fun and intuitive role as well as allow for more properly handled events based on this.
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Firstly what we would do is have it so you do not only need to be white listed but also complete a trial , once you are white listed for predator you will be put into a pool, once 3 predators are white listed or one week has passed and no one else has been white listed the currently white-listed predators are brought on in a friendly time (a good time for all 3) as young-bloods with a admin overseer for a Initiation event.
The event will start out on a predator ship only used for this type of event, the round population will be alerted to this event and special rules will be in place to assure the Predators have a fair trial, (Extra hard punishment on murderboneing marines and permeate banning from pred for dishouonerable youngbloods).
Once the event starts the overseer will give a briefing to the youngbloods and send them onto the planet with a one way ticket (the overseer will be able to teleport the youngbloods back only once and they must be in a temple) the youngbloods will need to successfully hunt at-least one xeno each and bring it's trophy back to the temple before being teleported out, however it is encouraged for the youngbloods to kill more then one xeno but not required, if a youngblood steals another kill or breaks the honour code, they will be killed (Permanently banned from pred).
in order for the players to get fully white listed to play as a predator they must first complete this trial, this way staff can specifically oversee them and judge if they are fit to play the role, also to see if they can even play without dieing on there first run (like me).
if a player fails and dies he will get one more chance in another trial, and if he fails again he will need to resubmit a different Predator and be accepted and trailed again.
if a player completes the trials he will be reworded with a white-list to play as predator without needing a event and regardless if he dies his white listed pred will remain, the only way for it to be removed it either breaking the honour code or special desecration of headstaff.
I personally think this will greatly help with making sure players are ready to be a pred and to make a more fair and fun system, with this we can have periodic Initiation hunts that would be admin observed entirely allowing for Higher RP and a fun event. moreso it will make predators more unique and actually have them complete a trial first (bragging rights!) the trail will become part of there back story and they will need to put in how they reacted, how many kills and how well it went, they may also inculde the names of the failed and or succeeded predators and use cross information if they remember a name from there trial.
(EDIT) Of course something i recently realized is that all preds must start unblooded for this to work, that inculdes lore, HOW EVER this wil be grate for them to make lore in about there first hunt
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): really this is extremely simple, make a list and a ship and put people on the list untell enough are ready for the event then boom, no coding really needed

Sounds cool, but a bit hard to moderate honestly. Might be able to make it work though.

Good idea but instead of kicking people out of Predator make it more of a ranking system and based on RP. They should rank from Un-blooded, blooded, elite and so on.
This will display actual rank in-game and have a form of leadership.
Also un-blooded wouldnt have access to Plasma weapons from the start, they'd have to find them or get them from a fallen member.
It's silly to just kick people out because they die in the game, especially considering how funky the BYOND engine is and let's not even forget the lag.
System should be more based on RP, rather than who is more robust in a round.
But good idea Allan.

they are not kicked, they are just told to make another predator, also it would make no sense to give unblooded no castors as they use it in first hunt's for unblooded all the time, actually in AVP1 they had specifically 3 already waiting for them in the templePink wrote:+1

Lore wise they don't use casters as un-blooded, but it's different in the moviesHeinrick Archsider wrote: they are not kicked, they are just told to make another predator, also it would make no sense to give unblooded no castors as they use it in first hunt's for unblooded all the time, actually in AVP1 they had specifically 3 already waiting for them in the temple
I see what you mean, that's not a bad system actually.

You got my approval, and my volunteering. Sounds like fun.

Re: Predetor system/initnation
There are a LOT of logistics that would need to be involved with this, to get it to work properly. In fact, I believe there are probably TOO MANY logistics, to get it to easily work.
Originally I was opposed to this, but I'm thinking *maybe* I might work something out with this.
There would need to be changes, since Yautja are canonically "restricted" from using certain weapons (like plasma casters) during their first hunt.

As the server grows it might be needed to open up different branches of staff. Perhaps Event Staff or a actual community manager?apophis775 wrote:There are a LOT of logistics that would need to be involved with this, to get it to work properly. Would definitely help to minimize the logistic end of things when you have certain individuals already planning it out.

I'd gladly be an elder who oversaw youngblood learning the ropes and going through the trials.
I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

+1. When donations open up again, I will be apping after shoving money into Apop's face. I look forward to having to complete this trial in the future.

Re: Predetor system/initnation
This would be a GREAT idea, but we don't have the staff numbers to be able to handle it.
