Combat Engineers Should Wear Engineering Backpack

Post by Steelpoint » 02 Aug 2015, 11:33

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Combat Medics currently get a Medical Backpack and a medical jumpsuit, yet Combat Engineers get no unique clothing aside from a toolbelt, meaning aside from the belt they look identical to a standard Marine on first glance.

I suggest Combat Engineers be given a Engineering Backpack, and uniform, to better distinguish themselves in the field.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): It would not only make the role slightly more unique looking, but it would make it easier to identify who is what in the field.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): A few lines of code changed.

Uniform is naaaah while we do need to distinguish from a regular marine from an engineer so +1 unless it's already there......

I thought engies could get Industrial Backpacks? Maybe that was only in the original source. The insul gloves are usually a giveaway, but I guess since they're not bright yellow anymore its not as easy to tell. +1 if they still don't get the backpacks.

Squad Engineers can get engineering jumpsuits and industrial backpacks alike from their vending machines.

The thing is I propose that its the only uniform option they get instead of it being optional.

Ehm... People, actually, in engineer vendor machines there are three industrial backpacks. I always wear one when playing as engineer. (Also, I always wear engineering uniform.)

So I don't understand what the whole post about.

To me... It seems like it can be changed/renovated throughout RP. No need for us to force it on them.

It's the engineers choice whether they should or should not wear the industrial backpack..

Also the engineers do get specific clothes and backpacks which they can wear or not but you can usually tell an engineer apart via the belt they wear.

-1, while I personally think that all marines are better off using the industrial backpack, I think the engineering uniform with the combat armor looks horrible. Though I WILL say that, in the engineering prep room lockers, the marine backpack should be replaced with an industrial backpack

Pff... Engineer uniform with industrial backpack looks very good. And if you in Bravo, it is combo at all.

What kind of marine wears a bright yellow jumpsuit? As a SQUAD marine you are taking place in combat situations. This means that you go in the field, where high visibility might be a hindrance.

I wear. Always. It's pretty good for marines to see, that I'm specialist and need cover all the time.

Maybe we'll make them a new backpack, but the engineer backpack is too "different" to fit their uniforms.
