Make Attachment Acquisition Automated
Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):
Currently the system for acquiring weapon attachments is a cluster fuck. It causes problems, and is generally not fun.
Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):
Prevent incidents like this: http://gyazo.com/c968228dc858c80e16b61944cc164b65
Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):
Perhaps put a vending machine in the loadout area that offers attachments, or allow players to select their own attachments when spawning in.
Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):
Add similar machines to the one in the RO's office around the readying areas.

I'm stressing way too hard about what to put here, so I'm just gonna leave it blank.... or....

Fun fact about this line.

Well, it really depends on the RO's. With Hal Harshman we've managed to keep a crazy long line stable and process it fast enough to prevent riots - the fact I've been handing out attachments at the second, Cargo window helped too. It split the mass of angry marines before it could reach critical levels.

Re: Make Attachment Acquisition Automated
The only problem I see with all of this is having a bad RO.
The way of obtaining attachments isn't a brutal one if someone who knows what they're doing is in play.

Re: Make Attachment Acquisition Automated
Personally, I just limit one of each attachment per marine for most attachments, except rail flashlights and maybe some of the less used ones later on into the round.
At roundstart I order 1 Rail attachment crate and 1 Underbarrel attachment crate, along with 2 webbing crates.
If there's a ton of players I just order 2 Rail crates and 2 Underbarrel crates, and tell everybody that webbing will be here later.
That's usually enough for me to hand out whatever attachments each marine wants.
Having Cargo Techs at this point is super useful - while you're handing out attachments they can drag attachment crates over to your desk for you and load the shuttle with empty crates, so you can get the points to order more attachments as needed.
Main thing here is to be quick. Don't let a line build up and you'll be fine.
Mainly a requisitions thing. Automated attachments dispensing would take a lot of the work away, but part of the RO's job is constant constant work so whatever.

+1. Marines already have more than enough organizational issues to worry about; they don't need giant line ups and yet another riot provocation on top of that. Initial distribution of attachments should be automated via vendors that each machine has a limited number of credits for on their ID card (Requisitions/Command may be able to put more credits on a card in the event of reassignment).
- Select your attachment(s) at the vendor.
- Swipe your card; credits are deducted.
- Get yo shit.

I tell you, man. There's something about the RO and attachments that make marines bloodthirsty. I've seen six marine deaths, three arrests, two riots, one Powerloader destroyed, and a rogue Specialist redecorating the area with 'nades, all at the QM/RO desk. Automating the process of acquiring attachments would make everything a lot less tedious and lessen the casualties marines get before they even leave Sulaco. +1

-1 RO's job is to provide logistical support, including attachments.

I don't have such lines at all, when I'm playing RO It's really depends on RO.
Process Shouldn't be automated, -1.

Please don't base your stance purely on self-anecdote; it's like those doctors who take a shift during a marine curbstomp then talk smack about how Medbay wasn't drowning in bodies while they were manning the place.Jeser wrote:I don't have such lines at all, when I'm playing RO It's really depends on RO.

Clearly there are issues here.
